Brandon Austin could decide this week-Zags

Now that I think about it they must be talking about 4* Tyler Roberson out of Jersey.

That's who they are talking about.

From Jeff Borzello of CBSSports: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebas...cruiting/20974335/early-signing-day-live-blog

As you mentioned, it's between Providence and Connecticut for Austin. Georgetown and some other schools have fallen out of consideration, while Texas has too much ground to make up on the Big East schools. The former Penn State commit is likely to decide in the coming weeks, and I think the Huskies might edge out the Friars. Austin likes Kevin Ollie, and Connecticut has plenty of momentum with its impressive start to the college season. Could that momentum carry over with Austin?

That scout report is strange. Nova, Quse? I had not heard they were even in the running let alone his two final schools.

haha - i was the one who asked him that on twitter... hopefully his prediction is correct

How can scout (pe-toowey!) suggest that it is down to two totally different schools? So wacky.

.-.
@Coast2CoastHoop: According to his AAU coach, 2013 Imhotep Charter (PA) guard Brandon Austin won't commit and sign today.

Someone should tell Mr. Austin the saga of Billy Curley.
I bet he wishes he came to UCONN instaed of changing his mind and going to BCU.

If you get an offer from UCONN and PC take the team that has 3 NC and a coach who played in the league for 13 years and run(the stairs).

I actually agree with this. The delay favors UConn. :(

Can someone explain to me what the big hype is with Providence? I understand the Cooley has been positive so far, but nothing about Providence seems spectacular. Program hasn't been to the NCAAs since 03-04 (and only four times in the past twenty years) . Ledo and Dunn are both great recruits, but Ledo is from Providence and Dunn is from just over the border... applaud them for getting those guys but its not like they got two top twenty players from Chicago and Phoenix. Anyway, Ledo is not eligible and Dunn is out til around January. Now I understand UConn has some baggage, but I can't see how Providence could ever be more attractive. With JC leaving and the NCAA ban, sure it can be scary, but that ban is only one year so incoming freshmen won't even be affected by it, we have a better roster (assuming Shabazz and/or Boat don't declare, which I don't think either will), we have a better fan base, and we are working to build a new practice facility. UConn is still UConn and Providence is still Providence. It's not like if he comes he's going to struggle for playing time (something one of our recruits might usually fear), he'd probably at least get a pretty good shot at playing right away.

Ed Cooley is in his eighth season as a division 1 head coach, and never made the NCAA tournament. If a kid wants to play for someone with that track record go right ahead.

And yet he beat UConn out for Dunn, Ledo and An assistant coach no one thought would leave. EC can close!!!

Can't believe it took you this long..........

Not to sure how hard UConn went after Dunn and I am sure with Ledo's history they had little interest despite his ability..........They were PC's to win.......Andre's a good coach but the writing was on the wall there too.......

Now Austin is someone they both want so this one would be a great win for PC let's see how it plays out...........Try not to lose to UMess ok?

Dunn and Ledo wouldn't have seen the floor for us this year.

People keep asking why these kids would choose to go to Providence over Uconn...playing time is an enormous factor, and when you have a crappy team, you usually have plenty of it to offer.

The kids love Cooley.

Cooley was recruiting Dunn when he was HC at Fairfield & Dunn wasn't considered a major D1 prospect. When Cooley moved to PC and Dunn exploded during the summer after his Jr year, the bond was already formed.

Most major programs recruiting Ledo backed off due to eligibility issues. We can now see why.

PC landed Ledo by default, because UConn and every other school knew he wouldn't qualify. After Omar Calhoun committed Rodney Purvis is the other guard we really wanted and just missed on. I'm not sure what you're getting at comparing assistant coaches? UConn has 3 former division 1 head coaches on staff.

Let's not kid ourselves. Rick Ledo would play for every school in the country if he were eligible. Dunn is really good too.

Your assistant coach left after he was leapfrogged by Kevin Ollie. What a horrible decision UConn made!!!

No doubt, "if he were eligible"........do we think our standing would allow for our coaches to recruit him? I'm sure they backed off and with Dunn I'm not sure they recruited him as hard prior to his breakout summer, so in that case kudo's to Cooley for the recognition!!

Ledo would not see the floor for you guys? I can't even begin to say how FOS you are.

each one of those former division one coaches all have something in common...

Let's not caste stones.. JK. I have to agree that it should- still be an easy choice between UCONN and Pc. But they are definitely making progress and we or almost any other school would take Ledo in an NYC minute (30 sec).

Their time at their former universities were high water marks for the programs n the last 3 decades?

George Washington, Brown and Holy Cross have not seen better days. In fact, DePaul under Leitao had its best season since Ray Meyer's Mark Aguirre teams. What are former PC assistants up to these days?

Ohhh I'll play:

  1. They all have more NCAAT head coaching experience than Ed Cooley? Two of them actually brought their own programs to the dance (Miller at Penn and Hobbs at GW) and Blaney has filled in for Calhoun at least once (I refuse to put any effort into this and look it up when he was a head coach).
  2. Or maybe it was simply more post season experience?
  3. All were better college players?
  4. None of them were assistant coaches at BC (yuck)?
  5. Each has a nice shiny NC ring, or two?
I think 5 is enough.

Come on, you are missing the important one here that should be put out there before anybody starts parading their staff of former HC's around as some kind of staff for the ages, something that Calhoun, Ollie, and Cooley do not have in common with them.

That was silly, except he isn't likely to see any time for PC either. The poster you responded to didn't say he wasn't good enough, though it was implied. Ledo isn't seeing the floor for anyone this year.

Dunn would have gotten run also, but he would have been the 6th or 7th man. He wasn't beating out Napier or Boatright and likely would have been behind Calhoun due to skill set.

However, anyone bringing up your assistant coach as a great steal for PC is just talking out of their butt. He wasn't moving up at UConn and all of the guys who are assistants now are better. There is a reason he never got a shot at a D1 program. Don't get me wrong, he's a fine assistant but he wasn't moving up here.

Do you really want to compare success of assistant coaches that have left the schools? Think about this, because I don't think you do.

Listen, I don't know the situation with Coach Andre, nor was I commenting on it. I also agree with you on Dunn

If you think he was alluding to Ledo's ineligibility then I have a bridge for you. Ledo plays big minutes on ever team in the country and he would be the best player on UConn's team the minute he ties his shoes.
