Borges: UConn not done recruiting 2019

It’s not Springs. He just transferred to Brewster. It’s most likely a center but have no idea who it could be.

With zero inside information, this makes the most sense. It'd be a solid late addition.

His one and only Crystal Ball pick is to UConn and that happened on 7/11

Agree with you on this. Between Akok, Polley, and kind of Sid we're pretty set at the PF spot. Springs would be a luxury.

We desperately could use a serviceable center though. Unless Hurley thinks Springs could play the 5 a little bit. I don't know his game well enough to know.

Just no 3* reaches. We're on too many good players in 2020 to have a roster spot used up.

I think Polley's gonna play a lot of the 3 and Akok may have to play some minutes at the 5 so there would be room.

No. He just announced he was transferring to Brewster last month and were already loaded at that stretch 4 type spot he would play. Just doesn’t make any sense.

Fair enough!

If anyone from UConn let that information out regarding still looking for long-term big without having this a done deal, that's asinine.

All of this is far too specific for Chief to be involved. Chief deals in paradigm shifts and other platitudes. When it comes to some specific info about a particular situation, he’s quiet until he can retroactively predict the news that has already been announced.

I'd be so over the moon if Springs reclassed
Really? Why? He's a solid player with decent size but it's not like his addition changes the 2019-2020 season all that much. I'd like to have him and he'd be a good 4 year player, but over the moon? What am I missing?

I just love the idea of bringing in top 150 kids with northeast connections. I mean he'd basically be a rotation piece this year but yeah I think he'd be a good four year guy and keep growing our connections.

Akok will have to play some 5.

I just don't see how Polley plays many, if any, minutes at the 3:

We are guard-heavy and will need to play 3 guards a lot to get our scorers minutes.

Our 2-4 basically play the same position on offense, except for occasionally in our horns sets when the 4 will screen. BUT Polley was unable to guard the 3. Your average 3 in the AAC is basically a big guard. 6'9 Polley can't guard other 6'9 power forwards off the bounce--he will get lit up vs any kind of 3. It just won't happen.

Springs seems like the logical option. Cliff seems highly unlikely

that doesn't seem like a bridge too far. it's still the middle of summer break whereas akok dropped out of highschool mid year to join the ranks

I agree. Springs would bring a different dimension to the 4/5 position with his athleticism paired with his strength/rebounding/low post game and would allow guys like Polley and Sid to play more 3. Plus, he loves UConn. Good 4-year "program" guy.
Agreed on everything but Polley. Him at the 3 will be a disaster, he'd get burned by even the mediocre 3's in the AAC.

Springs would definitely be useful in having here, even if it's a wait and see situation where he just practices/redshirts unless there's injuries and he's needed

He’s not that athletic
