Don't want to hear about undersized PF. Kevin Freeman was one of the best.
The AAC was considered the best conference outside of the AAC up until this year. They committed when Louisville was here and the league was doing good. Even though they knew UL was leaving, the appearance of the league was better. Now we get 1-2 bids per year. You really missed the point he was making. We all know our conference situation, but so did RP and Dan Hurley and they still came here
And Jalen Adams, who is literally the coach's son and was never going to any other school.Like Daniel Hamilton and Rodney Purvis - top 25 kids who grew up in the shadow of Gampel and were ours from birth.

you take kentucky out of the SEC and I'd say the AAC is better than the SEC... the teams you mentioned had a down year but i believe that's a fluke... i like tulsas guards and i think they'll be good next yearGive me a break. The league has been around for 2 years. Last year, we got four bids, this year two. Each year there were some questionable omissions. The league has had the defending national champion in each of its two years of existence. UConn, SMU, Memphis, Cincinnati, and Temple should perennially be in NCAA discussions. And Tulsa, who was good this year, has every player returning next year and will have eight seniors on their team next year.
This was a down year for the league. But to act like this league is no better than some of the dregs of D1 is disingenuous. We got one fewer bid than the Pac 12. The bottom half of the AAC needs to step it up, but the top of the league has some good programs that should be competitive for years. Would we prefer to be in a P5 conference? Of course. But UConn is a national brand, and this conference isn't as bad as some make it out to be.
If you saw him last year, he was a 15 year old Soph. Now 16 years old, next year 17 on the way to 18.
For PFs, especially undersized as he is, this makes all the world of difference. 15-18? Boys' bodies to men's bodies.

I'm on your side matrim, but let's be honest, Purvis was a transfer...... Out of high school he chose NC State, not us. If things had worked out well in Raleigh, he would have never became a Husky.Like Daniel Hamilton and Rodney Purvis - top 25 kids who grew up in the shadow of Gampel and were ours from birth.

Because there's a difference... If you wanna compare our program to Iowa St, so be it..... Last I checked, they don't have any championship banners hanging from the rafters either. Personally, I'd like to think our peers are more of the Duke NC KU UofA variety, but that's just me. Maybe our peer is Iowa St now, but I refuse to believe that.Goodman's yearly transfer list exceedes like over 300 players, getting transfers is another element to recruiting. Iowa St wouldn't be where they are today as a program without mixing in transfers with recruits out of high school. I don't see the point of making a distinction b/w a transfer and a HS recruit.
That's true Bruce, that was such a weird movie by the wayThat's true, but that doesn't change the fact that Purvis decided to come to UConn despite having no ties to the area.

I'm not knockin the ability to get Purvis on campus, but we still couldn't pull him outta high school (we ended up being his 2nd option like so many recruiting fails this season) and to go and lump him with DHam isn't "entirely" true..... that's all I'm trying to say.
Big 12 "tourney" championships, but yes respectable, I guess maybe I've become a bit of an elitist the past 25+ years, but to compare us to the cyclones (I feel) is a disservice to our program and what Calhoun has builtNot for nothing, but Iowa State has won the last two Big 12 championships. That's not a program I'd mind being compared to. They don't have our history, but they're definitely on the rise.
they're not even in the same galaxy as us...they can't be compared to us... if we go through a drought like UCLA, Indiana, etc, then people should start worryingNot for nothing, but Iowa State has won the last two Big 12 championships. it did say that rodney was a recruit for last year... either way he realized that he made a bad choice and corrected it, did we have any guards at the time that committed that might have turned him away? and yeah there is no way that ISU is in the same realm as us, UNC, Duke, UK, KU,Because there's a difference... I agree Aceboon, transfers are part of recruiting.....however, we can't rely on them (we were lucky with Purvis, and his eventual disconnect with NC State) but having a McAA transfer to us is not the norm either. We need to secure'em outta high school. Ultimately, it was a great get for us, but it's a lil misleading clumping him with DHam who we were able to acquire outta high school.I wasn't comparing the programs, I was using them as a reference point for how getting transfers is a part of recruiting all across college basketball.

Good for them, they still should never be compared to us. Didn't realize a team who's only sniffed the Elite 8 once (2000) in the last 70 years should be one of the strongest programs..... But different strokes for different folks I guessThe tournament is called the Big 12 Championship. They've won the last two of them.
Iowa State doesn't have our history, but they're on the rise, and one of the strongest programs in the country right now, yesterday's loss notwithstanding.
.94 Hilton Armstrong units.Quite frankly, do you know how tall Jeff Adrien was?

Blue Devils land transfer Sean ObiPersonally, I'd like to think our peers are more of the Duke...
Did I ever say that any of those "peer" programs don't bring in transfers? Because that would obviously be false... Unlike Iowa St who relies on transfer, I didn't feel it was proper to compare us to them (not to mention past successes), but rather compare us to duke, etc who bring transfers in to supplement an already good recruiting class. But go right ahead and use my words out of context
