URI is the king of Rhode Island this year. The Friars will obviously get better as Hopkins gets back up to speed, which makes it even more frustrating for BE teams when they drop a game to PC. Lot of resume killers in the BE right now

I'm very curious as to how the deals would be structured if they do happen.

I don't see how it could be legally possible for a school to sell an athletic program so the consideration returning to the PE firm would have to be a portion of the future cash flows. This is the first part of the arrangement that could be very dangerous for the participating schools as the structure of the waterfall will greatly benefit the PE firm, especially if early returns fall below projections (they always do).

The second part of this transaction that could be very dangerous for the school is the amount of influence over decision making the PE firm would have over the athletic program. Could they force or prevent coaching changes? Could they be involved in recruiting and/or acceptance decisions? Could they be involved in decision making of allocation of NIL money?

I could write paragraphs on how each of those items could lead to severe negative consequences for the school depending on the outcome of the decisions.

A massive influx of cash (hundred of millions of dollars) may appear to be too good to be true on the front end but these firms are very good at receiving a far better return on their investments than most of the general would expect.

Really thought DH was gonna make a move on Hausen after lauding him in Storrs openly. He is a Hurley type of kid, plays like he has a rocket up his @ss and has dawg. I honestly think him not making a play was more about BE sportsmanship and not poaching from your own.

Coleman Hawkins a clear case of a kid that had his payday and now feels like he’s operating at 60%. These are the types you have to evaluate hard and avoid like the plague if not top flight work ethic. How could any 5th year portal after senior year to a lesser team after getting to the E8, be motivated?

Hopkins is a one-trick pony, play him to drive left and try to draw fouls. Let him jack threes.

PC board ready to punt on English as the feeling is he doesn’t know XOs. His team last year was a lottery pick Cooley leftover, and a couple of guys he dragged with from GM. Now that he has to buy his own groceries, it will be interesting.

The 9.5 points Villanova is giving vs. Temple are looking tasty. This game has “Neptune Special” written all over it. If any coach is capable of following up a convincing win over a ranked team with a really close game again a mediocre mid-major, it is Kyle Neptune.

FWIW, Wisconsin was not fouling in a game that was likely lost but not completely out of hand. A lot of coaches are trying to manage margin of defeat rather than reflexively foul in games that are out of reach.

Marquette wins by 14 over Wisconsin. They are definitely best of the big east at this point of the season.
And a matchup nightmare for us.

Xavier has a big game in the Cinci showdown next Saturday. They don’t win that one they are also bleeding going into BE play - that home game vs Wake is a really meh win as your top OOC win, against multiple losses.

The Big East is representing more recently, after a cold start

We'll be fine, and I'm happy the competition is looking better

Butler looks completely mismatched. Houston is so much physically stronger than Butler. You can tell just by looking at the two teams, the Houston players look like body builders compared to Butler’s.

Forgot that Brendan Hausen went to Kansas St, looks pretty good early against St Johns
He wanted money and guarantees of playing time that his skills…..although impressive when on..didn’t justufy

he is a poor defender but if he is shooting threes he can get rolling…today was his big day. he Will have a few of them.

The home cooking officiating is pretty bad in this Houston game. There is physical, and there is whatever is happening in this game. I am a pretty good defender when I can just hammer the other team with impunity.

Interesting with the Johnnies thought they might lose it second half when they stopped driving and started jacking 3s, which they are not as good at. Luckily for them KState shoots 3s worse

I would hope Sha could at least not have his team quit on him.
Unskilled players with no coach. Scotty Middleton has looked like one of the very few bright spots. If he knows what's good for him, he'll get out of that dumpster fire program the second their last game ends

That was easily the best 20 minutes of Seton Hall's season. Scored 50 points, energized defense down the stretch, won the last 10 minutes 30-19. Scotty Middleton breakout game with 16 points off the bench on 6-7 (4-4 3P). Seton Hall shot 50% FG and 37% on threes while setting a season high in scoring

Anyways, Oklahoma St won by 9

Poor John Fanta (Seton Hall alum). I wonder in the NIL era if Seton Hall becomes the doormat of the BE.

I didn't look at the Seton Hall-Ok St game results while reading this thread and your post in particular. You had me going and my hopes up the Seton Hall won, until your last statement pulled the rug from underneath my feet.
