Yep, Butler had their chances but let this one slip through their fingers. Too bad because it was a nice comeback.

Butler lost the game by fishing for fouls and hero ball in the last 3 minutes.

Telfort’s last two touches were stat padding garbage.

McCaffrey sucks. Why play that guy at all?

Why didn’t Screen play in the second half? NDSU’s center was lighting it up.

DePaul on 19-3 run, up by 6, 24-18.

English needs to put Oswin Erhunmwunse back in the game. Essandoko is playing deep drop coverage on DePaul's pick and pops for 3s with Skogman.

When the Big East gets two bids in the NCAAT you'll see how fast the public narrative shifts from the Big East being a "power conference"

We need to get out of here

DePaul & Providence a combined 4/12 from the charity stripe so far. And that’s after a guy just sank 2/2. Some ugly ball on display to start 2nd half

ASAP. Conference makeup in today’s world of college athletics relevancy is that of the dodo bird, becoming extinct fast.

It’s not going to get better and look where it’s gone from last year to this year. Atlantic 10 on steroids by 2030.

If the conference has a single bad year it will take years to undo the damage

Everyone needs to calm down: we will get 4-5 teams in.
I'm not overly concerned about this season as the path for us to make it into the dance is right in front of us and whether the BE becomes a three bid league or not won't bother me if we are one of the three.

I am concerned that we won't have a shot at the dance after a less than stellar season but if we take care of business, other BE members will need to worry about that, not us.

Finally while I no longer have close to the affinity for the other conference schools that I once had, I wish them no harm.

I do however find it amusing that after URI knocked off PC, the Rams were knocked off by Brown (the school, not the color). Maybe PC can take Bryant and claim to be third best in their tiny state.

You have convinced me, we should join the Big 10. Why hasn’t the UConn Administration thought of this?

I'm not saying (or expecting) UConn to join the B1G but I hope Benedict is still in talks with the B12. If we had a Pac FB invite and rejected it I'm expecting a better alternative on the table

So you are saying we should go back to the AAC? Interesting.

DePaul has SHOOTERS
SEVEN of DePaul's incoming transfers shot 36%+ from three last season.

DePaul might still be the worst team in the Big East (them or Seton Hall) but even though the conference is down in terms of a top-end talent, it will be more of a gauntlet this year with DePaul and Georgetown much better and Seton Hall always pesky w/ Holloway at the helm. No easy games.

Fun fact: How far do you have to go back to find TWO different schools from a conference that have won a national championship?

Big 12: 2021 - Baylor (Kansas in 2022)
Big East: 2018 - Villanova (UConn in 2023 and 2024)
ACC: 2017 - UNC (Virginia in 2019)
SEC: 2007 - Florida (Kentucky in 2012)
Big 10: 1989 - Michigan (Michigan State in 2000)

This is a unique problem for UConn because most of the BE schools don't shoulder the burden of a mediocre (at best) FB program. The vast resources garnered by a P4 FB school are spent on... drumroll... FB. The basketball resources of most B10 and SEC schools are in line with what is spent on basketball at most BE schools.

If UConn can't get an invite to B10/SEC/B12, their best bet is to drop the deadweight that is FBS FB. That's not unique... there are a LOT of cash burning FB programs across the country that should consider this idea.

Consider that all these B10-BE rival programs match quite closely in basketball budgets:
Wisconsin / Marquette
Nebraska / Creighton
Purdue / Butler (but not IU - they're way higher. although Butler has quickly been growing their budget yr over yr)
Cincinnati / Xavier
Northwestern / Depaul

I think it goes beyond just this. Some of this is about brand as a whole, and the gravitation pull of where the star talent is going, which then has a trickle down. Take for instance AJD going to BYU, Darryn Peterson to Kansas, both considered top 3 picks in the NBA. There is already hype around those two playing each other next year. Fans want to see star power, and money will follow.

Thoughts about the overall BE talent after next year once Marquettes 3 seniors graduate, Dixon goes, Kalk goes? How does the next generation of BE talent look?
