Big East OOC thread '25/'26

The season just started. The group hadn't played much together last season and they've played even less together this season. They lost their one game against a ranked team before Big East play last season, they also lost to Georgia, and beat a terrible Virginia team. Do I think they'll go 18-2 again in the Big East? No. I also don't think they'll lose second round in the NCAA's again.

I just wish they would gel before they become so difficult to play in the Big East. It doesn't help us or the conference and I think it's going to happen again.
Why are you so confident in this team Soley based off of last season? It's a completely different team.

Gary Parrish of CBS Sports bought the St. John's hype hook, line and sinker. He had them #1 in his Top 25 and 1 preseason poll. It's early. We'll see what happens.

Sanon has looked like dog doo doo as well. I thought he would be a lot better than this.
Sanon has been lackluster in all the games I have seen whether it was today against Iowa State, against Alabama, and wve the cupcakes.

It's so early but I don't think the top teams are going to be as good as last season. Houston offense is cr@ppier than it was, they don't have that guy who can just create you a bucket like they did last season and they are less active/athletic than they were last season in terms of defense and offensive rebounding.

Florida isn't anywhere close to as good as they were last season, they lost all their guards.

Duke should be really good but nothing like last year, it's ridiculous they found a way to blow it last season.

Auburn was great last season and they won't be anything like that this season.

Alabama guards are electric but they're a little light in the frontcourt. Bol Bowen was a great pickup for them though and I really like that team.

BYU is really good but I don't think they have enough.

I just don't believe in Arizona.

Louisville is too young.

I liked Michigan more last season

St. John's I'm not counting out just to piss some of you off. Yes, point guard is a problem.

A healthy UConn and a healthy Purdue. Those are going to be the two best teams, IMO. I like UConn's chances over everyone.

I love the pettiness lmao

Great performance by Cuse outside of the worst ft shooting I've ever seen.

Really wanted them to win that one.
If they shot even decently they’d have won. And yes that foul they called on George guarding Uzan was awful. Blown call.

You think Vlad and Wolf are better than Yaxel and this UCLA transfer?

I do but they also have Morez Johnson this season, big team. They're probably very similar to last season, very good team but I don't see them being any real threat to win it all.

Looking forward to Bama Gonzaga. They feel like the two most overlooked teams heading into the season. They were both ranked but I didn't hear anything about them. They're both probably top 10 teams.

I do agree that the top teams this year won't be as good as last year. The top 4-5 team last year were really, really good. Duke had the two NBA ROY candidates, Florida was loaded, Houston w/Cryer & Roberts had two kids that lived the KS way, Auburn was super old and had Broome.

Purdue is really, really good. To go win at Alabama will be the best win of the early season. After watching them destroy Texas Tech, I see them as the best team. Cluff is a brute - I didn't realize what he was all about until I saw him against TT. He's the kind of toughness that team needed. Painter, who is a top 3 coach, calls this his most talented team overall.

1-2 today. Not great, but not terrible.

Winner: Seton Hall

Losers: St. John's and Creighton

47-17 (8-13)

Big games tomorrow for St. John's, Creighton, Seton Hall, and Villanova. We really need to go at least 3-1.

I Just finished watching the St Johns game. Whatever they are paying Sanon and Ian Jackson, its too much. Jackson in particular is hard to watch. He would have been the worst defender on last years Huskies by a wide margin.

If Seton Hall ends up one of the better teams in the Big East somebody has to hire Holloway out of there ASAP. He deserves better.

That's not Seton Hall's NIL budget. The ESPN guys should shut up because they don't know what they're talking about.
