Ejiofor did nothing the last 8 minutes again like in the Bama game, badly outplayed down the stretch by some 7 ppg transfer from Virginia.

St. John's should be ashamed of themselves for losing that game. Two years in a row they don't get it done out of conference.

Some god awful closing possessions by StJ. Absolutely gross. I’m not impressed at all by Jackson. He’s just a wild player, totally unrefined.
Sanon has looked like dog doo doo as well. I thought he would be a lot better than this.

so is St Johns going to a redux of last year, lose all of their big non-conf matchups but feast on the big east
I think they’ll be good. Just not as good as their preseason hype. I feel vindicated. They’re a 5,6,7 seed. Unless the just go ape s*** in conference.

I think they will have a gaudy record again in the Big East. Reminds me of last season but this team has a lot more talent.

They feel like a top 25 team, just towards the lower half. Tarris will dominate Zubi this year.

.-.
Definitely more talented. Just not built as well.
Some of the talent feels very unrefined, more athlete than basketball player. Maybe Pitino polishes it up, maybe not.

Sellers was their leading scorer. Not sure that was in the plan. Last years team just bullied you with size, speed and length. This team does not have that make up, at all.

So is Pitino not one of the best coaches ever? Or was it someone else who kept saying that all offseason?

It felt that way but last years team was physically smaller. The big difference is they had a big point guard in Kadary.

They may have a gaudy big east record since the league is down but this team is not put together nearly as well as last year.

If they had Richmond, smith, Scott, and rj Luis instead of Jackson, sanon, hopkins and darling they’d be much better

You think the league is down more this season than last?

Richmond, Smith, and Scott all graduated and they didn't win out of conference last season either.

Yes to your first question. Pretty much undeniable so far.

I realize they graduated. The question was were they a better team last year. Last ooc they lost a couple games they should have won including being up 20 on Baylor and blowing it but they were pretty clearly a very good team to anyone who watched them. This year, zuby is great but beyond that it’s not clear there’s a formula that equals a dangerous team. The things that characterize good teams—playing off each other, getting easy looks, playing disruptive/tough defense—they did last year and don’t really do this year.

Are you disputing Pitino being one of the best coaches ever?
He's definitely a great coach. But he's not a miracle worker. Your posts during the offseason about St. John's and Pitino bordered on worship. Kind of made my stomach turn. 😀

I'm sure they will get better because he's done it before with less.

Most of the StJ faithful are wishing they saved their money one of Sanon or Jackson and purchased a PG. It’s clear as day Jackson has no PG skills at all. The kid from Idaho is more of a back up PG.

The season just started. The group hadn't played much together last season and they've played even less together this season. They lost their one game against a ranked team before Big East play last season, they also lost to Georgia, and beat a terrible Virginia team. Do I think they'll go 18-2 again in the Big East? No. I also don't think they'll lose second round in the NCAA's again.

I just wish they would gel before they become so difficult to play in the Big East. It doesn't help us or the conference and I think it's going to happen again.

Yeah the question is do they have pieces that could even gel cohesively together…seems to be a pretty big leap of faith at this point

Do I think they’re definitively better than whoever is the third best team in the big east? yeah probably. Do I think they’re going to have a real shot to contend for a final four like people thought might be the case based on their offseason?…I’d have to say no

Last year , despite a brutal performance in the tournament, they entered the tournament as a real threat to go to the final 4

Why are you so confident in this team Soley based off of last season? It's a completely different team.

Do Vegas strip clubs accept unused timeouts?
Good question. The last possession was lousy for St John's.

This Houston- Syracuse game is exciting. Syracuse just tied the game from 3 with 54 seconds left

Gary Parrish of CBS Sports bought the St. John's hype hook, line and sinker. He had them #1 in his Top 25 and 1 preseason poll. It's early. We'll see what happens.

Sanon has been lackluster in all the games I have seen whether it was today against Iowa State, against Alabama, and wve the cupcakes.

.-.
It's so early but I don't think the top teams are going to be as good as last season. Houston offense is cr@ppier than it was, they don't have that guy who can just create you a bucket like they did last season and they are less active/athletic than they were last season in terms of defense and offensive rebounding.

Florida isn't anywhere close to as good as they were last season, they lost all their guards.

Duke should be really good but nothing like last year, it's ridiculous they found a way to blow it last season.

Auburn was great last season and they won't be anything like that this season.

Alabama guards are electric but they're a little light in the frontcourt. Bol Bowen was a great pickup for them though and I really like that team.

BYU is really good but I don't think they have enough.

I just don't believe in Arizona.

Louisville is too young.

I liked Michigan more last season

St. John's I'm not counting out just to piss some of you off. Yes, point guard is a problem.

A healthy UConn and a healthy Purdue. Those are going to be the two best teams, IMO. I like UConn's chances over everyone.

I love the pettiness lmao

Great performance by Cuse outside of the worst ft shooting I've ever seen.

Really wanted them to win that one.
