Xavier is not a bad team. They are not on the same page at times, and there is too much 1-on-1 offensively, but that is the reality of the transfer portal era. Defensively, they are OK. The Georgia loss is going to hurt, because Xavier had that game won. WVU is good, not great, and Xavier has to win some of these games.

Two things I am seeing a lot of this season that drive me crazy:

1) Pull up 3's. Unless you are Steph Curry, these are really low percentage shots, and are likely to be contested.
2) Players rarely use the backboard on floaters or turnarounds. The backboard probably adds 10 percentage points to the shooting percentage on shots inside 10 feet. It is just stupid showboating not to use it.

I’m a little surprised that even after 4 years in college CFjr isn’t a full time starter. Corey was very young when he enrolled at UConn but I thought he’d develop into an impactful player
That was actually the first game this season CFJ hasn’t started for PC. He’s been dealing with an ankle injury so maybe it was precautionary, but still played 20+ minutes so clearly it wasn’t that big of an issue..

Wonder if he’ll be back in the starting 5 after he’s 100%

McDermott had other slow starts and then worked his magic but I just have so much trouble seeing it this season. It was going to be really tough to begin with but losing Jackson McAndrew for the season is just a killer for them.
Has ArizonaHusky analyzed Creighton injury patterns? Is McDermott hurting his players like Hurley?

Monday and Tuesday action (P4 games in parentheses):

Monday:

Creighton vs. Baylor (Vegas)
Seton Hall vs. NC State (Maui)
St. John's vs. Iowa State (Vegas)

Tuesday:

Creighton vs. Iowa State (Vegas)
St. John's vs. Baylor (Vegas)
Seton Hall vs. USC
/Boise State (Maui)
Villanova vs. Old Dominion

Next two days are huge. Really need to go at least 2-1 tomorrow and at least 3-1 on Tuesday.

Their last really good year was 2011, but they did have a somewhat decent year in 2023 that ended in a beat down at the hands of Xavier and in 2016 they did drop a ton of points, I think it was 43....(10 seed)

So many of the old big east schools have just fallen off a cliff.
Lville was rock bottom abhorrent a few years ago but I think they are on their way up, not that they could have fallen any further.

I don't think anyone associated with the ACC can be happy about their choices. And they thought they were going to buy their way to basketball superiority, LMFAO

They know they made at least one yuuuuuuge blunder

As far as hoops goes (and every sport except maybe football), I'm happy where we are

BC: garbage pretty much since they left
Pitt: garbage (not quite the steaming pile BC is though)
Cuse: garbage post Boeheim (but wasn't very good last few years of Boeheim either)
ND: 1 NCAA tourney berth last 9 years, 3 straight losing seasons
VT: 3 NCAA berths past 9 years (did make the last 2 though)
Rutgers: they had Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper for 1 (bad) year? Also, seem to randomly own Purdue, but otherwise not great.
Miami: may be the best of the bunch, though they cratered last season.

The Cuse fans will just keep saying, "yeah, but the paychecks". 🙃

WVU?
Louisville?
Cincinnati?
USF?

Put WV similar to Miami, Louisville hit rock bottom before finally recovering lately. Cincy a perennial bubble team, and USF irrelevant.

Seton Hall is improved from last year, don't know what that means in terms of season record but this is a much better unit

crazy that Greer was going to redshirt, he's making an impact here vs Baylor

It's bizarre. He was around the 50th best recruit in the country, played at Montverde, and he's their best athlete.

even with McAndrew healthy McDermott should have been able to find minutes for him

Holloway is my second favorite Big East coach, but their offense hurts my eyes. I don’t think there is much Holloway can do about it given their talent deficit, but it is just grinding.

I love their defense. Great, hard nosed man-to-man without fouling.
