Big East OOC thread '25/'26

Since you posted this, you lost a football game and we beat a top 10 team in bball. Thanks for stopping by!
He's not trolling UConn. He's trolling our conference and the fans that would prefer remaining in the BE instead of going to the B12. His hope is UConn will be one of the Eastern teams that get an invite to that league. It would benefit WV and his Cincinnati.

League records against the P4 so far:

Georgetown: 2-0
UConn: 1-0
Seton Hall: 0-0
Creighton: 0-0
Xavier: 0-1
DePaul: 0-1
Villanova: 0-1
Butler: 0-1
St. John's: 0-1
Marquette: 0-2
Providence: 0-2

BE 4-2 today

Darius Adams had 16 pts, 7 boards, 3 assists for Maryland over Marquette

He's up and down but he's getting tons of PT when he's good. Best case scenario for him and honestly UConn is probably better without him when Mullins comes back.

Gonzaga should effectively count as a P4 member for Creighton tbh

Tuesday through Thursday docket (P4 games in parentheses):

Tuesday:

Seton Hall vs. New Haven
Providence vs. New Hampshire
Xavier vs. Old Dominion
DePaul vs. Gardner Webb

Wednesday:

UConn vs. Arizona
Marquette vs. Dayton
Villanova @ La Salle
Creighton vs. North Dakota

Thursday:

St. John's vs. Bucknell

The league needs to go 9-0 the next three days. I'm mildly concerned about Xavier against Old Dominion and very concerned about Marquette against Dayton. Both have to win.

Interested to see how Seton Hall plays against New Haven. I think there is a good chance Marquette loses to Dayton and Xavier loses to Old Dominion. Nothing is a gimme with DePaul.

Friday through Sunday docket (P4 games in parentheses):

Friday:

Butler vs. South Carolina (MTE)
Xavier vs. Georgia (MTE)

Saturday:

Georgetown vs. Wagner
Marquette vs. Central Michigan
Providence vs. Penn State (at Mohegan)

Sunday:

Butler vs. Virginia (MTE)
UConn vs. Bryant
Xavier vs. WVU/Clemson (MTE)
DePaul vs. Detroit Mercy

Need to go 7-2 here: 4-0 in cupcake games, Providence needs to beat Penn State, and Butler and Xavier must each go at least 1-1 in their respective MTEs.

DePaul will win. The other two are shaky.

Marquette is sitting on 20 steals, and down to the wire vs Dayton. Seems impossible to me.

2-2 tonight

Winners: Villanova, Creighton
Losers: UConn, Marquette

37-14 (3-10).

Is Marquette even an NIT team? Good lord Shaka.
I am not so sure. Right now, I see UConn, St. John's, and Creighton as the sure NCAAT teams from the Big East. I think Georgetown will make it and Villanova be on the bubble come decision time or 9-11 seed meaning just over the bubble.

Marquette doesn't look great and I won't be pleased if UConn doesn't sweep the series against them. Let's wait and see if Smart can get them to gel with more time. The season is still young.

Not so sure why people think Creighton is good. They are incredibly slow and not athletic. Creighton to me is a bubble team.

Let's see how Creighton does against their remaining P4 matchups. They were favored by 30 over NDSU yesterday and won by 15.

Gtown is the only team other than the Big2 right now that are showing anything. Nova has been playing solid too. Those two programs playing well is good to see.

I agree with this:

Look like top-4 seeds: UConn, St. John's

Will probably make the field: Creighton

Bubble teams: Georgetown, Villanova

Wrong side of the bubble: Marquette, Providence, Butler, Seton Hall

Apocalyptically bad: DePaul, Xavier

Not seeing it with Creighton. Big next week for them facing two P4 teams.

They played Gonzaga on the road in Spokane. One of the toughest places to play in the country. I think Gonzaga will be a top 3 seed in March.

Game was not remotely close. They were completely dominated. Based on your thought process that Creighton is a 3 seed then Gonzaga must be a 1 seed. Like I said. We will find out next week.

Creighton is annoying because they typically start off very flat in the non-conference and then fix things up by Big East play. Then it muddies up our resume when we or anyone else loses to them.
Creighton no longer has him. I do not expect them to be that good this year.
