Creighton/UNLV is why you don't pick teams to go 18-2 in conference. There are a lot of good players out there, and players are sticking around in college a lot longer because they are getting paid. 10 years ago, Kalib Boone might have been in Turkey or someplace earning a living, but he can make more at UNLV so he is playing in Vegas at 22 or 23. Even the players that are a step down stick around now because even $20 or $30 grand a year plus getting a degree is better than whatever else they were going to do. A bad Chicago State team took down Northwestern last night, and Arkansas State cruised over Louisville. I suspect that both those low majors are both old teams too.

Teams that are still going all in on big high school recruiting classes are just stupid (looking at Calipari). College basketball is becoming a men's game, not a boy's game.

Beating Creighton doesn't mean UNLV is a great team or that Creighton is terrible, it just means that a veteran UNLV is good enough that they can put a game together to beat Creighton on a given night. That is why they play the games.

This is why these numbers, polls, and early results in December have little meaning when it comes to rankings and seedings in late Feb. But we’re still obsessed with it. Creighton can very well live up to their current number or they won’t and as bullet proof and unlikely as it looks right now it can be similar for UCONN. I wouldn’t shovel dirt on Creighton.
These out of conference games can have a big impact on seeding later on. Big East teams are only gonna move from quad to quad by beating up on each other now.

Hah, know your audience. Ideally, BCU goose eggs the rest of the season, rumored pugilist Juwan Howard blows up Michigan under Warde Manuel’s monitoring, and Slick Rick and St. John’s fester their way to the NIT.

haha, yeah good point. I only meant "hopefully" in relation to what it does for the conference as a whole (which just helps improve everyone else's resumes)

My 12-year old daughter on listening to Pete Gillen’s color commentary- “This guy’s voice is terrible and he kind of seems like an idiot”. Ouch

Wait until she turns 14. The list of idiots in the world is going to get long, with dad right at the top. Speaking from experience.

Marquette going down to whatever this team is would officially be a terrible loss for the Big East.

I just turned the TV on. Who the hell is St. Thomas and why is Marquette, at home, struggling to put them away?

Apparently St. Thomas moved directly from D3 to D1 a few years ago.

Apparently because they are shooting the fukk out of the 3s. This game is actually in doubt.
