Big East OOC 2.0

51-23 (9-17).

Nova loses to Oregon.

Nova is responsible for more than 20% of the league's losses but only 4% of the league's wins.
Sucks but not surprising with new coach and injuries. They’ve held the conf up over the last decade though so they get some patience in terms of impact on conference metrics.

They are learning what every fan base learns after a massively successful college basketball coach leaves. By the time of change it's more about the coach than the name on front of the jersey or the names on the back of the jerseys.
Sometimes (cough … Syracuse … cough) they find out before the coach leaves.:D

Neptune is doing his best Ollie impression. 2-5…I know he is down his two best players but even against cupcakes nova as looked shaky at best and overwhelmed at worst
Ollie won a natty before driving the program into the mud, Neptune is doing this with an inherited Final Four side. Impressive, really.

Neptune is over is head and must be in the depths of depression.

No love for Cuse but they lose early many years and still make the tourney. Maybe Nova comes back it's November.

I always look for bad losses early in the season. Villanova has 2 and Georgetown has 2 or 3 (Northwestern). That's basically it for the conference.

I guess. But the conference is incredibly top heavy so far. Creighton and UConn are solidly top 12 teams. Everyone else maybe outside of Xavier are…meh

51-24 (9-17).

Siena defeats Seton Hall.

Not a good loss. This is getting kind of ugly.

This is getting very ugly for the big east. I really hope teams like St. John’s and Xavier can have good seasons to keep the conference respectable this year (in addition to the two obvious ones in us and Creighton). Maybe we get a surprise team that wasn’t expected to do great like a Marquette or Providence. I’m afraid it may be too late for Nova already with the mounting bad losses. Sucks to say but we may need to go 16-4 or better in big east play to realistically expect a 3 seed or better in the tourney this year.

The Big East is clearly down this year but so is the ACC and Pac, it's nothing to fret about.
This is true, but you can't help but notice this is the second year the Big East is #4, the Pac-12 and ACC are either #5 or #6. It seems like a tier-structure is starting to cement.

This could be a big year for mid-major leagues as the Big East, ACC, and Pac-12 stink and the B1G, SEC, and Big 12 can only get so many teams in.

If the tournament started today, here is how many bids I would give each league.

B1G: 10
SEC: 9
Big 12: 8
Big East: 5 (UConn, Creighton, Xavier, St. John's, Marquette)
ACC: 5
Pac-12: 3
WCC: 2
MW: 2
AAC: 1
A-10: 1
MVC: 1
