Big East OOC 2.0

Villanova loses in OT, came back from down 15 but they never led in 2H of game or in OT. They need Whitmore to play soon. 2-3 on season now...

Villanova (2-3) loses to Iowa State.

The league has been really disappointing so far OOC. The Big East streak of finishing at least .500 against the P5 OOC every year since realignment is in serious jeopardy.

This is how I would handicap the league right now:

Lock: Creighton

Should be in: UConn, Xavier

Bubble: St. John's, Villanova, Marquette, Seton Hall, Providence

Not looking good: Butler

No chance: DePaul, Georgetown

Don’t count DePaul out just yet. I’d move them to the “Not Looking Good” category.

Villanova needs to figure out their PG situation.

We haven’t played against any p5 teams yet. ;)
 
Dan just said we will press them full court. This is going to be fun. Buckle Up. Jackson coming off the bench again.
 
Pretty tough slate of games for the league tomorrow. I hope the league can have a winning record against the P5 and Villanova beats Portland.
 
Welp. Watching Nova vs. Portland and, unless things change drastically with Whitmore’s return, I see them unranked from here on out. This is not a Jay Wright coached Villanova team. Fingers crossed that Xavier can knock off dook to offset this ugliness. *yes, it’s not over yet
Edit: the good guys just need to take care of their own business…a rising tide lifts all boats. The inverse needn’t be true.
 
Whitmore and Moore will make a huge difference but this team is not in a good spot right now. I thought today was a real big spot for them against Portland to stop the bleeding but they are spitting the bit. Can’t score. Don’t look good.

Good post.

I really like Caleb Daniels, but he is limited as a team's #1 scoring guard. Arcidiancono is not a Big East caliber point guard but getting 31.4 mpg.
 
They don't have the guard play they've had in the past to offset the lack of inside presence. I see Kansas as similar, but not nearly as bad.
 
Villanova is currently 363rd out of 363 in kenpom's "Luck" rating. It's another way of saying that no other team, by kenpom's estimate, has had a worse difference in their expected results and actual results.
 
wtf is going on with Villanov? even post JC, we did damage. they have plenty of players back from the final 4 team

Nova was a 6.5 pt. favorite.

BE starts the day 0-2. Xavier hanging with the Dookies.

So their expected results are predicated on past results, with one variable notably absent.

No PG. No go-to scorer. Guys that aren't great shooters taking too many shots. They never developed some of the high ranked recruit fringe options from the last few years like Trey Patterson, Longino. Their bench went 1/13 from 3 and 4/21 overall today. They didn't utilize transfer portal.
