That is as a crock of BSDonny had zero idea of where Creighton was inbounding. That really sucks if Nova loses this, you shouldn't be allowed to call those kind of timeouts
I believe the rule is that if you don't have possession and call the timeout it's a jump ball, which would have gone to Creighton anywayDon't you need possession of the ball to call a TO?
That looked like a couple inches from hitting the top of the backboard. Ridiculous.Ashworth with the bank for the 3 . Wow. I didn't know you can bank a shot from that angle.
I legit didn't even know you could still do that in college ball, the NBA got rid of that in the mid 2000sThat is as a crock of BS
That is a strange rule. So say there's 10 seconds left, possession arrow is in your favor, there's a loose ball and the 2 teams are fighting for it and you call a timeout. You're awarded the ball? That can't be right.I believe the rule is that if you don't have possession and call the timeout it's a jump ball, which would have gone to Creighton anyway
I actually thought the Nova-Creighton game was well officiated, but I still can't understand how Creighton was awarded that timeout. That call makes a huge difference in the outcome of the game. It's not like it was a quick bang bang play- that was easy to see in real time. This conference has the worst officials in the country. Providence had two shot clock violations with a 22 second shot clock and a bucket taken off the board. Creighton somehow gets a TO called with no real possession whatsoever. Don’t get me started with fouling up 3 in a shooting motion.
They brought it back a year ago.I legit didn't even know you could still do that in college ball, the NBA got rid of that in the mid 2000s
That doesn't make sense. If two players from different teams are fighting for the ball, sure that's a jump ball decided by the possession arrow. Green didn't have possession of the ball while he was falling out of bounds, that would not involve a jump ball with a possession arrow.I believe the rule is that if you don't have possession and call the timeout it's a jump ball, which would have gone to Creighton anyway
For those who missed it, here is the play in question. They should not have been awarded a timeout.

No, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that in the specific situation where you call a timeout and it's deemed that you don't have possession that's when it goes to the possession arrowThat doesn't make sense. If two players from different teams are fighting for the ball, sure that's a jump ball decided by the possession arrow. Nothing worse than fair weather city fans.19,166 at the Garden today. NYC definitely knows how to get behind winning teams
"Possession" while in the air out of bounds?I think they made the right call. He had the sense to get the refs attention to call the timeout and I think there was enough there for possession.
Yes"Possession" while in the air out of bounds?
Agree to disagree, if you're an inbounder you need to establish two feet in bounds before you can touch it and possess the ball, the same theory should apply in situations like what happened at the end of that game. I do not see how possession is established when you're midair, out of bounds, and never possessed the ball with your feet inbounds.Yes
Because that's the rule, you can call timeout in the air before you land out of bounds.I do not see how possession is established when you're midair, out of bounds, and never possessed the ball with your feet inbounds.
If that is in fact the rule than it really needs to be changed. Makes no senseYes
He did not even have possession in the air. It's not like he had high hang time. He fully possessed the ball with his right foot on the hardwood out of bounds. Nova fans are pissed about it on SB Nation and IMO rightfully so."Possession" while in the air out of bounds?
