Bowlsby: “We have to make our decisions based upon more empirical evidence.”
Bowlsby: “Once you take into account all the data that’s involved with it, there’s also a somewhat irrational process that goes along with it".

“We can’t spend a lot of time worrying about what’s in the chat rooms and what’s on the Twitter feeds,” Bowlsby said. “We have to make our decisions based upon more empirical evidence.”

Please refresh my memory ... how did Maryland escape the GOR?
If my memory serves me, Maryland paid something like $30M to settle its lawsuit with the ACC but that the additional future revenue to be received from the Big 10 more than offset what Maryland paid.
Is my memory correct?
My recollection is the 32 million was league Distribution money that was withheld by the ACC . They just called it even and leftFishy is right...Maryland paid $32 million for the $50 million exit fee....there was no GOR.
There is still a $50 million exit fee...and now the GOR i addition.
The exit fee can be readily avoided by giving a 27 month notice.....the GOR, like all of the GOR's, has not yet shown to be worth challenging.
The exit fee is now more than $50 million. "Upon official notice of withdrawal, the member will be subject to a withdrawal payment, as liquidated damages, in an amount equal to three (3) times the total operating budget of the Conference (including any contingency included therein), approved in accordance with Section V-1 of the Conference Bylaws, which is in effect as of the date of the official notice of withdrawal."My recollection is the 32 million was league Distribution money that was withheld by the ACC . They just called it even and left

The Big 12 presidents and chancellors are scheduled for a board meeting next Tuesday in Dallas to discuss, among other topics, expansion.

Bowlsby/Boren to hold media teleconference afterward. Meeting occurring on 2nd day of Big 12 media days, but at different site in Dallas
It actually does not sound strange, but whether UConn is or is not a right fit for that conference, matters not. This is the last lifeboat for a decade or more. The ACC has made it perfectly clear that they do not want UConn. The B1G has no need to expand ever, really, given their recent TV bonanza. The new AD does not seem optimistic that an invite is imminent during his recent talks to the media and fans. I agree that UConn will try to improve facilities and the football program, but in reality, the CR ship sailed in 2012 and likely won't return until 2026, if ever. We all need to hope that the Big 12 expands and takes UConn aboard. I only hope that our AD and President are doing some behind the scenes maneuvering, unlike what happened back in 2012 with our former AD.This may sound strange but I hope they don't expand,or if they do it's not with AAC teams especially UC. Although the addition of UConn sounds good we are simply not the right fit for that conference and our chances of acceptance are miniscule.
I'm also convinced that UConn can only increase its chances in landing ,not only ,in a better geographical but cultural fitting conference in the next 5 years.
The only chance UConn had of going to the B12 ended the moment they found out that nobody is interested in paying them for a network.
The WV yokels ( are they really different people or just different personalities??) continue to try & spin anything that will make them feel comfortable. They know, just like everyone else in that conference, that they are beholden to Texas. Everyone also knows that Texas will do whatever is best for Texas.
The fact is, ESPN & FOX were saying no to the B12 about paying for a B12 Network while at the same they were coming up with a massive pile of cash for the B1G. That's about as much of a slap in the face as you can get.
The yokels still want to tell you that the B12 has leverage because of the required increase to the conference if it expands. I would bet that the B12 is not willing to play a game of chicken over some short term money when they know that when their contract expires in a few years they may only have facebook or twitter bidding on their rights if they piss off their current partners.
I don't think the situation is all that dire. CR is a new constant. Sooner or later the SEC and Big 10 will want to go and get another school from another P5 conference, and that'll create openings. The ACC doesn't want UConn until the day when they need UConn, and that day will come eventually. It actually does not sound strange, but whether UConn is or is not a right fit for that conference, matters not. @11:50 he says Texas to Big Ten, Oklahoma to SEC.Why does Brian Davis think that the Big 12 will not be extending an invite to BYU to join the league?
