Best Steakhouses

Yes Keenes is good and in Manhattan Sparks is also very good. In Chicago Gino and Georgetta is outstanding but the best is still Peter Luger's IMO.
In NYC The Old Homestead and Gallaghers are good but lag a little behind the others.
There is an Old Homestead in Vegas too that is very good.

There is also a Gallaghers in New York, New York but it was mediocre. Vegas has some excellent steak houses but the names escape me.

I eat at Abe and Louis in boston and had a great meal.
In Tampa there is place called berns which is good.

Did you go to all of those steakhouses since this thread got started, or do you just have pics of steaks on your phone. Both are impressive, but the former would make me a bit scared for your health. My understanding from your other posts is that you slathered these fine cuts with ketchup, no?

My order would be:
- Sparks (don't love their sides in comparison to some others though).
- Palm.
- Lugers (steak is at the top with Sparks, but I'm not big on their atmosphere per my Page 2 post).
-
- Smith and Wollensky. I think they are in that next rung down.

some are years old; all within last 10 years.
Nope just once or twice a year.

I really love BLT. Never gets any love in NYC.

I have eaten at all of them and Smith and Wollensky is way below the others. In fact there is no reason to eat there with The Palm and Sparks within easy walking distance.

I should clarify, that ranking was based on August_West's pics. I agree with you, which is why I left a symbolic spot between S&W and the others.

I'd put a bunch of the national chains in that open slot (Ruth's Chris, Capital Grille, Morton's...). I've had some great meals and mediocre meals at all of them. Very inconsistent, and not just based on location. The same location can be hit or miss. One of my favorites was when I want to Morton's with friends. One guy hadn't been so we let them do the table-side intro of the meats. When he got to the lobster he says "and of course, our live Maine Lobster..." He picked it up and the guy was clearly dead. I brought that to his attention and asked if they'd still be serving it. He said it must've just died, so they would. We didn't order lobster so I didn't continue, but who knew what that guy died from!

It's fantastic for the money. Ive never found it too salty . I think you got screwed. Go back and get the bone in ribeye. But I should've stayed out of this thread as I'm slowly starving myself and havent had a proper piece of meat or over 1000 calories in 10 days. And it's going to be a while before I do. Now I'm hungry .
Down 14 lbs in those 10 days though.

14 lbs in 10 days is mighty impressive sir. Congrats! Other than the low calorie intake what are you doing? Intermittent fasting perhaps? That’s some serious progress in very little time.

And those steak photos you posted above look incredible!

Other than the low calorie intake what are you doing?

Low Calorie, very High protein, high fiber. Eating about 200 cals every couple hours from 7 am to 6 pm (works out to about 5 times a day) nothing after 6. Crap ton of water. Walking.

I have a lot to lose so I probably am dropping the 1st bit pretty easily just by the stricter eating regimen switchup. I used to never even pickup a bite to eat until after 6PM at night for the first time every day. Im sure it will slow. But its nice to feel fast results. its motivating.

Absolutely man. Keep up the good work!

Take a look at intermittent fasting if you haven’t already. It’s a fanatastic weight loss tool. I wish I knew about it when I went through my big weight drop from 275 to 210ish. I’m using IF now to lean out a bit more.

Less Garcia dot dot dot more Hendrix.

I didn't see J187money chime in on this thread, but I bet he would vote for Palm (any and all)!

Tara's on Marco Island. Best bone-in Filet. Did the trip 10 straight years, MIA for the last 2. Miss it dearly.

Wife gave a birthday party for me at Blackstone's Grill in Southport. A sleeper I tell you: Linky

Pretty close to the airport.

4444 W Cypress St, Tampa, FL 33607

Definitely want to try Berns one one of my trips down...

Was staying at the hyatt place down there a couple weeks ago for a couple spring training games. Didn't make it there though

About Berns in Tampa. they actually include some things with your steak so it’s not completely alacarte like so many places now.Had dinner across from Hulk Hogan who was with his daughter and wife pre divorce. He loves the place.

Berns is hands down my favorite. That being my last trip pre-kids and our first NC may have something to do with it, but the Chateaubriand for two was out of this world and the private dessert room where you can retire with a cigar and scotch is the icing on the cake. I floated out of that place.

Been to the one in Norwalk - it was awesome
As I remember there's another also

Arroyo Chop House in LA is pretty damn good.

Lawrey’s in Dallas and House of Prime Rib in SF are out-dated classics.

Wolfgang’s in NYC is great - live in NYC and have been to all of the “name” steakhouses and as much as I was skeptical about Wolfgang’s it delivered.

Craziest damn thing is The Fort in Brainerd, MN where you cook your own steak. They bring it out raw you pick it and cook it.

Berns is real good and I could give you a list of great places in KC.

Thanks for the Tara’s recommendation. My parents have a place on Marco. Will be sure to try it next trip. The Old Marco Pub is excellent too.

Wish I'd know about that place when I used to go up there. Ex's friends had a summer place on a lake up there. Once they even took me out to go chase a tornado that knocked down a few buildings outside Brainerd.

Anyway, if you like picking your own steak, you might like Jax Cafe in Mpls where you pick your own fish out of their stream.

Haven't had chateaubriand in years as we favor bone-in and more heavily marbled. But did have an exceptional one at the Ritz Carlton in Cleveland, however, I think the accompanying bottle of 1987 Silver Oak Bonny Vineyard may have contributed to the experience.

The Gaslamp Strip Club in San Diego is like that too where you cook your own food. I didn't think it was all that great.
