OT: Best Pizza in CT

It's not a private equity takeover, the fund gets a % commission. Sally's is in charge, but of course rapid mass expansion is always very risky depending on how aggressive the expansion is.
O.K. so Lineage Hospitality are the greedy bastards who are going to run it into the ground. Either way I would not invest in Sally's no matter who is raising the money.

Sally's family sold the business to Lineage Hospitality and they have big plans for the chain. Locations with 45 in Texas, 35 in Florida, 15 in each ACC state.

"Lineage Hospitality, a growing consortium of hospitality investors, acquired Sally's Apizza from the Consiglio family in December of 2017 to pursue the vision of bringing this legendary pizza to everyone."

That's the best way to decrease quality while increasing revenue in the mid-term. Long term, they'll become a forgotten chain. Kinda sad.

If anyone wants to invest in Sally's expansion, Forte Capital Group is doing a raise right now. 50K or 100K minimum.
I’d do it if there was any way to sell the investment short. On the other hand, I’ve been to Consiglio’s Restaurant and the food is top notch.

If you have the opportunity to put your life savings into Sally's pizza you've got to do it.

If Sally’s can do it the way Pepe’s did then there possibly might be some hope. The best pie I had in years was at Pepe’s in Fairfield about a year ago. Pricey though, of course, and parking was tough. Place was packed.

We had a nice pie at Pepe's in Manchester last month. I thought they nailed the crust.

Their Manchester location has been pretty stable since its opening way back (has it been 20 years?!).

EDIT: I looked it up and it's been 18 years.

Why in the hell would they waste good pizza on college kids who would toss a coin between them and Wendy’s drunk on a Wednesday
That's old school thinking. Nothing was better than Pizza Slop late night. Kids today are living large compared to the mac and cheese crowd of yesteryear. Although Sally's is still too pricey for the average student, I would think.

There was one great loss not many will remember. The old grill at the Student Union before they opened that Jonathan's . Great burgers.

This is a great video...

Great peek behind the curtain. I’ve mentioned before but Mrs @StllH8L8ner played softball with Cheryl’s daughter in college and still talk once in a while. She was in charge of ramping up retail distribution and hooked us up with a bunch of frozen pies during the dark days of Covid. I was skeptical that they would taste anything close to the same as in person but the frozen ones held up.

Went to Sally's Apizza in Wethersfield today. First time having a Sally's pizza. Did not care for it. Thin crust, sauce was salty and slightly bitter. There were five of us, and none of us thought it was great. We won't be going back.

Also went there for the first time this weekend. I thought flavor was very good but the crust was not crispy enough. The waitress gave the disclaimer that crust would be charred but it was nothing close to what I would expect from a New Haven style pizzeria.

Went there about few months after they opened and it was uneventful. Nothing like New Havens Sally's.

An update to my Q.

As I was approaching NH on I-95 about 3pm over the weekend, I found that Sallys takes tel orders. I waited on hold for 5-10 minutes, and finally placed large peperoni order. They said I could pick it up at 7:30 - 4 hrs from then! Screw that. Called Modern (opens after 3 on Sundays) 4-5 times, but no one answered phone - busy. So called Pepe. They took order and I picked it up 20 minutes later - just enuff drive time to get there. Amen. Had 2-3 slices in car while wife drove - great!

People are talking so much about Char, “good char”, “bad char”, when talking about pizza, at first I thought they talking about putting fish on it as a topping.

I warned you above, didn't I? 4 hours just like I told you.

Had Sally's in West Farms two weeks ago. Liked the pizza, great flavor, great crust plus a full service bar and sports bar like TVs

Awesome baby

My experience with Modern is that you usually have to call several times to get through with the phone either being busy or them just hanging up immediately. But once you do get a human, it's a pickup in 20 minutes without fail.

yes. Have not had issue w them in past. or Pepe.

My parents are going to Clinton next week and have been trying to get some recommendations for good restaurants that won't break the bank and are looking for a good pizza place for when a friend of theirs visits. They are interested in good pizza and good garlic parmesan wings (I am too hoping they bring some back to VA... where I live, sadly the best garlic parmesan wings are Domino's unless I drive for an hour or 1 1/2 hours)
