4 ACC teamsFWIW #2 on this site. Probably where we will land. Also odd that it’s listed under “college football news”?![]()
AP Poll Top 25 Projection College Basketball Rankings Prediction Week 7
What will the latest AP Top 25 college basketball poll possibly be on December 19th? We make our best guess prediction before the real poll comes out on Monday morningcollegefootballnews.com
Just for some further context, of the 19 writers that previously had UVA at #1, only 2 had UConn at #2. The rest had Purdue.I am hoping we are pleasantly surprised. 19 voters placed Virginia first last week and I don't think its a foregone conclusion they will all vote Purdue this week
UVA had 19 first place votes. We need 14 of their 19 votes, or more Purdue to UConn flips to secure #1
And my hope for a pleasant surprise dwindles...of the 19 writers that previously had UVA at #1, only 2 had UConn at #2
Seth has us 2 per The AthleticExpecting #2 but first place votes margin will be tighter this week.. What will Seth D do??
Marquette and Xavier should sneak in but my guess is they're still on the outside looking inI'd imagine Purdue retains #1 - they have 4 Kenpom top 30 wins to our 1, and their best win beat our best win this weekend. We do have 5 Kenpom top 50 vs their 4, and have the edge in Q1/Q2 records. However, #2 is nothing to sneeze at and while #1 would be a boost to the program we are still on track for what is infinitely more important - having the #1 in the East so we can play virtual home games at Albany and MSG.
Wonder if Marquette makes it in?
I am shocked LOL.. Poor dude doesn't have any ACC teams to vote ahead of usSeth has us 2 per The Athletic
I don't take exception to your post as a whole, but that second part is a no. Their best win was a road game against Kenpom #83 Nebraska where they barely squeaked it out in OT and didn't cover. Our win was a road game against Kenpom #77 Butler, where we won by 22 and blew out the spread.I'd imagine Purdue retains #1 - they have 4 Kenpom top 30 wins to our 1, and their best win beat our best win this weekend.
My bad - I meant Gonzaga beat Alabama.I don't take exception to your post as a whole, but that second part is a no. Their best win was a road game against Kenpom #83 Nebraska where they barely squeaked it out in OT and didn't cover. Our win was a road game against Kenpom #77 Butler, where we won by 22 and blew out the spread.
Davis: 2 (3)You stole my title lol so I'll just post my weekly update here:
Voters are being extra stringy today. I think us twitter folk scared them from releasing their ballots early. Regardless, here's where we stand so far...
Last week’s ranking in parentheses, and a * means flipped from Purdue to UConn
Borges: 1* (3)
Collier: 1* (3)
Berman: 2 (3)
Rothstein: 2 (3)
Golden: 2 (3)
Assuming we hold all 15 of our first place votes, we’re now at 17. Purdue is at 25. Net gain of +4 for us.
UVA had 19 first place votes. We need 14 of their 19 votes, or more Purdue to UConn flips to secure #1
Hah, it's not going to happen, but I also wouldn't be surprised if a voter's team losing means they maybe take a closer look at the new number one (as opposed to just sliding #2 up). I'd be shocked if we got enough to be number one, but wouldn't be surprised if we got more than 2 first place votes from that group. And my hope for a pleasant surprise dwindles...
2 loss Tennessee ahead of 1 loss Arizona, who just beat Tennessee??Virginia will drop, we'll move up. They're not going to knock Purdue out of #1 without a loss.
1. Purdue
2. UConn
3. Houston
4. Tennessee
5. Texas
6. Kansas
