Any word on a new HC @ UConn yet?

The only possible defense of Moorehead's time at Akron is that there is little Akron has to distinguish itself from the other five Ohio MAC schools who all draw from the same recruiting pool. Adding to that challenge is that the other five were in the MAC for more than four decades longer than Akron.

I will go on record now stating that I will be very disappointed if he lands the job (not the punch in the gut that Pasqualoni was, but still bad), but as I had done with all prior hires, I will hope for the best and be sure that there is sufficient alcohol to temper my dissatisfaction.

Very true, but isn't it the job of head coach to run his program so that it can be distinguished from its peers? If Moorhead can't outperform Toledo, Kent St, and a bunch of directional Michigans, then is he the kind of guy we want?

Moorhead's record at Akron is the one reason why I wouldn't be thrilled with a Moorhead hire.

13-35 as HC at Akron. Are you delusional?
He actually didn’t do badly at MS State and was super at Fordham. Akron obviously didn’t pan out. Good OC credentials.

Good body of work. Knows UCONN and Northeast recruiting.

He took over a team that was 34-18 in Dan Mullen's last 4 years at Mississippi State and got fired in 2 seasons. He's been a disaster at Akron.

CandidateCurrent RoleKey HighlightsWhy UConn?
Ryan CartyHead Coach, Delaware32-17 record over 4 seasons; 6-6 in Delaware's 2025 FBS transition; beat UConn this year. Age 42.Young, rising star with recent FBS exposure; fits UConn's goal of becoming a top independent/G5 program. Strong recruiter from Northeast.
Joe MoorheadHead Coach, Akron8-28 at Akron (MAC); prior success as Fordham HC (20-4) and Penn State OC; UConn OC (2009-10).Northeast familiarity; offensive innovator who could leverage UConn's improved facilities and talent base.
Pete LemboDefensive Coordinator, Buffalo41-31 as Ball State HC (2011-15); prior UConn candidate in 2014/2017; 30+ years coaching experience.Regional ties; defensive expertise to balance UConn's offense; proven at MAC level.
K.C. KeelerHead Coach, Temple2x FCS national champion (Delaware 2003, Sam Houston 2021); 2016 Eddie Robinson Award winner.Program builder with 200+ wins; Northeast recruiting pipeline from Delaware days.
Lembo is the head coach at Buffalo, not DC. 9-4 last year, 5-7 this year. He tends to have the ability to win where it is tough to win. Ball State, first Elon Coach with a winning tecord in his career.

1. I don’t think so. Wouldn’t be bad.

2. Not in play.

3. Oh my god no. He’s a special teams coach, maybe we can get him to be our special teams coach.

4. Maybe 10 years ago. Just signed 40 guys to Temple said at the Presser that this would be his last job. Not in play.

Nice.

He did very badly at Mississippi State.

He got fired for like 23 different reasons there.
Going 8-4 his first season and winning 2 Egg Bowls. That must have been it.

Second season 10 players suspended. Starters.

Admittedly. Not a good fit.

Do we root for any possible candidate to lose in a bowl/playoff game to speed up the process ? Haha

Why UConn Report???? Why????? I mean, come on... Why is UConn Football HC speculations behind a pay wall???? Why??? Enough already... We ain't that proven....
To that drivel of an article I would say relax, it seems to indicate Moorehead and Reno, and those apparently aren't high on the list of people being looked at. So take it with a grain of salt, lick of lime, and shot of your favorite spirit (or soda for those who abstain from alcohol).

Those would legit be the two worst options. I can't imagine we would go in that direction, Benedict is smarter than that.

Only Rutgers could mismanage getting into one of the two premier conferences. They needed to dramatically upgrade facilities, and still do, and borrowed against future payouts. That put them in a hole that they are still working to dig their way out of.

but they're all quality followers...
I’m sorry that’s incorrect. The correct answer was, Who is Boston College. Select again.

Well, I am completely convinced that neither Moorehead nor Reno will get it. (Which of course means that one of them will probably be announced on Monday.)

But if it doesn't happen, and we all agree that Dan Mullen makes more than UConn can afford, and Ryan Carty is in the middle of a rocket ride like HCRE1.0 and has already beaten UConn on his first try, and the Delaware AD is likely to raise until UConn folds, then who? Kevin Cahill or a P4 Coordinator of which there are many who might fit?

I think Moorhead was fired because they knew they could get Mike Leach.

Moorhead had Top 25 classes and went 14-12.

His team suffered disciplinary issues, the QB into a fight with a teammate and had to miss a bowl game.

Supposedly he never “bonded” with the fanbase.

The reasons for his exit may have been manufactured But really I just think they wanted Mike Leach.

Also apparently he isn’t in the mix so we don’t need to talk about him.

Some info!
