For real? That is hysterical.
In a past life I ran a package store. The true pros stopped in at 8 am to get enough vodka to get through another day.I had a coworker who went to the principal and said I was an alcoholic.
"How do you know?"
"Every time I go to the package store, he's there!"
She was right. She had a cart full, and I was buying a pt of brandy.

It is important to note the difference between drunks and alcoholics. No, your doctor keeps it real. Don’t ask him or her that question unless you want the real answer though.
The Boneyard is largely populated by drunks.

Drunks go to bars.
Alcoholics go to meetings.
It's more fun being a drunk.
You’re not from Connecticut, are you?Can I ask what a “package store” is? Just a liquor store? I’ve never heard the term until a bunch this thread.
Takillya. Don’t start that at 8am.the early bird catches the (tequila) worm
It's a Connecticut thing, never heard it until I got to collegeCan I ask what a “package store” is? Just a liquor store? I’ve never heard the term until a bunch this thread.

Yes, it’s just a liquor store. “Packy” for short.
It’s not just Connecticut because I’ve heard it in other states, but I believe the origin of the term relates to laws that required liquor to be sold in its original package. I’ve also heard people say that it related to laws that prohibit public consumption of alcohol, which were not enforced if the alcohol was placed in a bag, or “package,” but I think that was a later development. But what does “package” have to do with liquor?

Always knew where my next drink was coming from.In a past life I ran a package store. The true pros stopped in at 8 am to get enough vodka to get through another day.
Man I figured all this package store talk meant you guys were getting bent at the UPS store shipping out people's boxes.
An alcoholic know when liquor stores open, a drunk knows what time they close.
I worked at a place that opened at 8, I spent so many 12 hour days there I would go home and dream about it.I never knew what time liquor stores opened until lockdown.
I dont know what that says.
I will say this though, I looked it up and CT packy's can open at 8 am, but I dont think there is one within 30 miles of me that opens before 10.

I think when they had to close at 8pm they probably took advantage of earlier open.I worked at a place that opened at 8, I spent so many 12 hour days there I would go home and dream about it.
You never worked the opening shift at The Bottle Shop?I never knew what time liquor stores opened until lockdown.
Meh, nothing 40 minutes of cardio can't take care of.Another way to look at this:
A standard drink is about 150 calories. A Big Mac is about 563 calories. (see USDA)
If you drink 3 bottles of wine (5 servings per bottle) per week = 2,250 calories
If you drink two six packs per week = 1,800 calories
Grand total: 4,050 calories or 7 Big Macs
So on average, after eating your usual amount of food and snacks per day, you are also eating an extra Big Mac every day. If you drink mostly in the evenings after supper, it is like having a Big Mac every night before going to sleep.
