They did?For years, ND skipped bowl games outright unless the game had, or at least close to had championship potential.

Alabama also had 4 top 15 wins. How many did Notre Dame have? Oh, zero?IMO ND’s gripes are legit. The CFP committee created a false narrative that it was ND or Miami. That is nonsense. Alabama lost by 2 TDs to a FSU team that went on to finish 2-6 in the ACC, and they got freakin pants’d by UGA in the SEC title game.
My guess is the ACC realized they needed to go into attack mode against ND (to feed the false narrative the CFP committee was providing in that CFP propaganda hour it ran on ESPN the last month of the season), because in no small part they realized their conference championship game tiebreaker system would allow for a FIVE LOSS Duke team to play for all the marbles. That’s just bad leadership, vision, covering your assets, whatever you want to call it. Miami should’ve been in that title game to punt UVA into the sun, and then none of this is an issue.
You’d rather see Tulane in there as opposed to ND as a college football fan? Stop. I Still don’t understand why Tulane and James Madison both got in —waiting for an explanation. I’m ok with 1. But both in is beyond dumb. And if I’m Texas, why would I ever schedule an out of conference matchup at Ohio State in September? Why not stay in your conference lane and run through the schedule at 11-2? Why even risk it if you’re not gonna get rewarded , actually penalized with a loss for losing that game? And to your other point, the reason why the playoffs went from four teams to 12 was primarily because they fans wanted to open it up a little more to the next tier of top teams not really because of the same four teams getting In. Anyways, let’s get ready for Uconn Hoops in 10 minutes. Let’s go!!!Those are the terms they agreed to in order to keep their independence. Additionally, the reason why the 4 team playoff was so reviled was because it was always the same 4-6 teams. Now that we have non traditional schools being involved, we are going to complain little poor ND was left out?
Alabama also had 4 top 15 wins. How many did Notre Dame have? Oh, zero?
You can’t be serious
ND best wins were @ home to USC and Pitt.As a heart attack. And it's 3 top 15 wins. Not 4. Get your facts straight or go home.
Let's talk some more about how Alabama didn't lose ground after getting face-planted by UGA last week. Or how they lost to a team that finished 2-6 in the ACC this year?
It's stupid. The ACC messed it all up for being an unserious bunch of buffoons to allow Duke into the title game, so that you could have a decrepit corpse of a blue blood run it back one more time.
Alabama is going to get trucked. ND is probably one of the 4 or 5 best teams in the country.
Make that make sense.
Too bad it's not the SEC that wants us, but realistically THAT will NEVER HAPPEN.I have a similar one, but it's the Big 12.
They got in because both deserved to get in over the ACC conference winner Duke. They were among 5 highest rated conference winners, which is the rule. I’m not going to miss watching Notre Dame at all because had their chance and blew it with two early season losses & then didn’t play a tough enough schedule after their losses. You’d rather see Tulane in there as opposed to ND as a college football fan? Stop. I Still don’t understand why Tulane and James Madison both got in —waiting for an explanation. I’m ok with 1. But both in is beyond dumb. Or you know…maybe having a bunch of players declaring for the NFL, a bunch of players rehabbing injuries, a few players hitting the portal, and starting their B or C team in a meaningless bowl game with no upside and only downside like getting their starting QB into next season had something to do with it.Wonder what did more permanent damage, the ACC backing up their full time member or Notre Dame throwing a tantrum and claiming bowl games are beneath them...
How did being in a conference work out for Duke or BYU? It sure worked great for Alabama though.ND is taking this CFP snub pretty hard. Well at least they aren't in a conference and can keep all their own media money.
Not favoring Miami over ND. Actively bashing ND even though they’re an ACC member in 24 sports. This is a non sequitur (he was saying the relationship between ND and the ACC was damaged by the conference favoring Miami over ND—zero relation to basketball) and completely irrelevant vis-a-vis UConn if it were to become a full member.
Our basketball program would be fine in the ACC. The concern with the ACC is its long term viability.
They were actively blackballed by the Big 10 because they’re a Catholic school. They tried getting in MULTIPLE TIMES. People don’t know their history and WHY independence was Ian’s is important to them.I'm a huge Notre Dame Football fan. My grandfather was a huge fan starting around 1915-1920 until his death and I was indoctrinated into the fold before I could speak. I still root for them. They are MY team despite being a UCONN Alum however, Notre Dame has ZERO right to complain. They can't have their cake and eat it too. They are a member of the ACC for all sports except for Football because ND has their own Football network and they didn't think that it makes sense for them to join a conference when they can do their own thing and make hundreds of millions of dollars in doing so. It is their right to make decisions in their own best interest but then they can't go and cry when a School who is a FULL member is promoted to go to the BCS and ND is not. They could join pretty much any conference that they want but they don't because they thought because they are Notre Dame they will just automatically be invited every year because of who they are. It doesn't work that way. I thought Notre Dame had done enough to get in but obviously the decision makers made their decision. Notre Dame is stomping their feet like a petulant child because they didn't get their way. They need to look in the mirror if they want to point the finger at anyone.
They should use the playoff standings or the polls as the tie breaker. Also, if you look it up, Virginia’s loss to NC State didn’t count as a conference game. Virginia lost to NC State and Wake Forest, but only have 1 conference loss in the standings. The schools apparently mutually agreed to not have that game count as a conference game beforehand. That’s like UConn and St John’s playing and not having the game count in the Big East standings. It’s not a serious conference. What's particularly wonky about the ACC's tiebreaker system is their conference season is only 8 games. There are 17 teams in the ACC.
So, the chances of a bad Duke team sneaking through is quite high. It makes the ACC appear to be an unserious about anything conference.
Until the late ‘60s they did, yes. They did?
Go back to the ND boardOr you know…maybe having a bunch of players declaring for the NFL, a bunch of players rehabbing injuries, a few players hitting the portal, and starting their B or C team in a meaningless bowl game with no upside and only downside like getting their starting QB into next season had something to do with it.
Youre probably one of those people that would prefer a 48 P4 invitational for march madness. You’d rather see Tulane in there as opposed to ND as a college football fan? Stop. Aww someone hates logic and alternative perspectives. No thanks I’ll stay right here, sport,Go back to the ND board
Youre probably one of those people that would prefer a 48 P4 invitational for march madness.
Based on what? Because you say so? You have NO argument. Bamas schedule was way harder and they actually won their games. As many as ND did. ND is not a top 4/5 team on any objective metric..,,,you saying they are doesn’t make it so.As a heart attack. And it's 3 top 15 wins. Not 4. Get your facts straight or go home.

And that is relevant today how exactly??Until the late ‘60s they did, yes.
Logic? You don't think it was logical for the committee to put Miami ahead of ND due to head to head? You don't think it was logical for the ACC to advocate for their full time member over their half and half member? You don't think it was logical for ND to accept the bowl invite to get more practices for their young players?Aww someone hates logic and alternative perspectives. No thanks I’ll stay right here, sport,
Funny how you bring up more practices for young players but not the risk of CJ Carr tearing his ACL or blowing out his Achilles in a meaningless game and destroying their chances for next year too.Logic? You don't think it was logical for the committee to put Miami ahead of ND due to head to head? You don't think it was logical for the ACC to advocate for their full time member over their half and half member? You don't think it was logical for ND to accept the bowl invite to get more practices for their young players?
Seems to me the only ones not using logic are ND and their fans.
you're not even a full member of the conference, so your (and your school's) complaints don't carry much water. Why would the ACC advocate for a one-foot-in-one-foot-out "member" school over a full invested member school? They should use the playoff standings or the polls as the tie breaker. Also, if you look it up, Virginia’s loss to NC State didn’t count as a conference game. Virginia lost to NC State and Wake Forest, but only have 1 conference loss in the standings. It’s fine to promote Miami and pump them up. It’s a different matter to denigrate and tear down ND. While they’re not a football member they are a member in roughly 24 sports.you're not even a full member of the conference, so your (and your school's) complaints don't carry much water. Why would the ACC advocate for a one-foot-in-one-foot-out "member" school over a full invested member school?
Maybe it doesn't, but it should. These schools pretend they're very concerned about climate change, then form a conference that ups their travel mileage two or three times. The concept of too much travel no longer applies to the major conferences.
This is the craziest part to me. How do you, as a program, turn down those invaluable practices that are opportunities to improve your team because you want to throw a tantrum? You don't think it was logical for ND to accept the bowl invite to get more practices for their young players?
Seems to me the only ones not using logic are ND and their fans.
In the 1920’s when they still played with leather helmets. Things have changed a bit since then, and the big ten has made several overtures. They were actively blackballed by the Big 10 because they’re a Catholic school. They tried getting in MULTIPLE TIMES. People don’t know their history and WHY independence was Ian’s is important to them.
