Our 3-point shooting took a hit tonight, especially from Azzi and Blanca. Post-ND update:

Azzi: .492/.455/1.000

Sarah: .603/.411/.900 Incredible!

Blanca: .556/.419/.750

Kayleigh: .533/.385/.545

Allie: .500/.431/.667

Team: .525/.398/.738

Kneepkens, Ciezki, and Prince are still all over .500/.400/.900.

When I originally wrote it, I had 100% in there. The only reason I changed it, was I did not want to jinx her. You know, the sports superstition, and all.
She's still going strong....

Azzi's surprising inability lately to make layups or mid-range jumpers will hurt her 50/40/90 goal. She's so fluid and her mechanics so tight, I wonder what is going on with her...
Watching the tape, she appears sometimes to be a bit off balance on her midrange shots. My guess is the intensity of her full court defensive efforts cost her some shots during the game (I think Ash struggled with this as well because she wasn’t using her legs well when she was shooting g earlier this year). It’s takes more than a few games to figure out what your legs need to do differently as the games goes on. Azzi just needs to stay aggressive and keep shooting at all three levels. She will have a monster game soon.

Azzi is slipping a little, and Sarah is moving up. After G'town:

Azzi: .487/.436/1.000

Sarah: .602/.413/.905 Amazing!

Blanca: .561/.409/.778

Allie: .500/.435/.667

Kayleigh: .533/.370/.545

Team: .525/.390/.749

.-.
After Seton Hall, Sarah slipped a little.

Azzi: .491/.445/1.000

Sarah: .596/.393/.911

Blanca: .574/.404/.750

Allie: .500/.435/.667

Kayleigh: .541/.370/.583

Team: .527/.390/.756. Improved FG% and FT% today.

In the Xavier game, Azzi slipped a little, Sarah maintained, and Allie soared. All did well today. Season stats:

Azzi: .487/.441/.971

Sarah: .599/.391/.925

Blanca: .574/.404/.750

Allie: .531/.477/.706

Team: .530/.397/.759

For the first time in several games, our cumulative FT shooting is better than that of our opponents.

Feb. 1 update on other players:

Kneepkens: .527/.471/.958 (56 treys)

Ciezki: .536/.460/.911 (57 treys)

Prince: .562/.500/.930 (32 treys)

Azzi has 67 treys

Updating the cumulative box score, reflecting the DePaul and Butler games:

Azzi: .489/.448/.949 (needs a couple of layups or middies)

Sarah: .601/.394/.909 (needs a trey or two)

Blanca: .574/.404/.750 (no change in a while)

Allie: .544/.467/.750 (now our 4th leading scorer)

Team: .531/.397/.751 (I'd like to see us at .400 from the arc) National rankings: 1st/2nd/50+

Shame Allie struggled so much with her free throws early. She seems to have worked that out now but unfortunately she’s so far down in her % , I’m not sure she has time to catch up. Perhaps next season?

I’ll also highlight Tessa Johnson whose splits are very similar to Fudd’s aside from missing 5 more FTs this year:

.486/.464/.821 and 65 treys.

Every time I see SC play, I think that Tessa is an excellent shooter. Is she better than PaoPao?

I think comparable, different skill sets though. Pao is more of a combo guard where Tessa’s a true wing. I think Fudd is a better comparison as they’re both wings and deadeye shooters with a quick release. Both have high IQ, neither excels at attacking the basket or getting to the line. Fudd is higher use and a bit more dynamic/explosive moving off ball but Tessa is similarly efficiency wise and capable of putting up big numbers.

Update on other players:

Kneepkens 53/46/92 13.1 ppg

Cieki 54/47/91 24.1 ppg

Prince 55/49/94 17.5 ppg

All remain above 50/40/90.

Update after Marquette:

Sarah: .591/.396/.905.

Azzi: .495/.463/.949

Azzi doesn't have quite enough attempts, but she would be 2nd in the nation in FT shooting. She jumped from 10th to 7th in 3-point shooting percentage. She's now ahead of Kneepkens, but behind Wright, Ciezki, and Tessa Johnson. She jumped into a temporary tie for 2nd in 3-pointers made.

Azzi doesn't have quite enough attempts
Actually nowhere close. Assuming she plays 40 games, she would have to make 100 free throws. She'd have to average almost 5 makes per game the rest of the way, when she's averaging less than one and a half.

After a tough Villanova game:

Sarah: .595/.400/.892 Needs 5-5 on FTs

Azzi: .497/.470/.950 Needs 2-2 on FGs. 4th in the nation from deep, 2nd in treys made.

Allie: .550/.476/.762

Blanca: .572/.404/.750

Team: .529/.404/.749 1st, 1st, middle of the pack

Well, today's shooting wasn't great. The emotions of Senior Day always seem to be a factor. Both Azzi and the team dropped a little. Current stats:

Sarah: .600/.406/.892 Needs 5-5 on FTs

Azzi: .490/.454/.950 Dropped to about 13th in 3-point %, about 2nd in 3-pointers.

Allie: .536/.460/.762

Blanca: .563/.380/.727

Team: .526/.397/.750 1st, 1st, 50+

Not UCONN related but was looking at UCLA stats, their guard trio has incredible splits considering they're all big scorers too:

Kiki Rice: 50.7/40.8/88.9 and 15.3 ppg
Gabriela Jaquez: 54.7/40.6/.859 and 14.1 ppg
Gianna Kneepkens: 53.3/45.9/93.8 and 13.2 ppg

Gianna Kneepkens: 53.3/45.9/93.8 and 13.2 ppg

Kiki has become a much better shooter. From the arc over 4 years: 22/31/37/41. The team is top-10 in 3-point percentage.

In addition to Kneepkens, we have Prince and Ciezki:

Prince 55/46/92

Ciezki 54/46/90

They will be our toughest match up if we meet in the NCAAT. Their problem in a game vs UCONN is that they only go 6 deep - their starters plus "Litl Betts so they might wilt late in a game when Geno can run a group of nine. A last factor in a game against them is, Close, as she showed the world last year, gives the Huskies a 10 point "home court like" advantage when matched up against Geno and his staff.

Milford, who is the "we" you refer to? I don't see them them on the UCLA roster on their website.

They'll go 7 deep as Dugalic comes off the bench too. She's much improved from a year ago as 6-4 stretch 4. Their well built with 2 solid options at PG (Leger-Walker and Rice), a couple of elite wings in Jaque/Kneepkens and a trio of front court players with the Betts sisters and Dugalic.

Geno also shortens his bench in big games. I don't think we'd see more than 7 players play 10+ minutes in a Final Four or Championship meeting.

Dugalic brings advantage that she is a true 'stretch forward', deadly from 3pt land.

Still as another poster noted, UCLA have Coach Close and they still are slow. I actually like this matchup for UConn even though they are 27-1.

SC for me still toughest. Johnsons plus Latson perfect backcourt, Okot and Edwards perfect front court. I know they have injuries and are not the usual SC deep, but the starting 5 is very good...and fast.
