Blakes is a high-volume shooter who plays 35+ mpg and shoots 46/36/86, all of which are behind Sarah’s numbers, which is why many of us shake our heads at the idea that Blakes could win NPOY over Sarah.
Don’t get me wrong. Blakes is an outstanding player who’s carried Vandy to a great season. But she ain’t Sarah, particularly when you start looking at defensive stats.
What are KK’s 50/40/90 shooting stats after this weekend when she shot lights out accurate

KK is now at .564/.345/.692. Very impressive FG % for a guard.

Different players with different reasons why they should be considered. Considering the number of shots she takes, Blakes splits are quite good and similar to Caitlin Clark during her final 2 years at Iowa when she was consensus POY. She's also a much tougher schedule than Sarah Strong has. Her splits are on par or better than the 3 previous POY winners.

I didn't realize Raven's splits were that high. Tessa Johnson's numbers have dropped considerably since her red hot LSU game. They'll need her to shoot well to have a shot at winning a title.

- There are 170 such D1 scorers.
- Blakes is 165th (TS%=59.1%).
- Blakes has the highest USG% (32.8%) and the third highest minutes at 34.72 minutes.
- Blakes is 45th in DBPM (an all-in-one defensive stat).
- There are several other notable players (below) who are better efficient scorers and better defenders than Blakes.

i think your number is not correct , I believed azzi has scored 104 3 pointers instead of 107! Out of attempt of 233 trial instead of 234. You need to verify it thoroughly with the help of AI before posting all these numbers . 107/234 is not equal to 0.446!

Tougher schedule? Vandy’s OOC schedule was among the weakest in the country vs UConn’s OOC schedule, which was the toughest. So the schedule is pretty much a wash. This is the same question as Paige vs JuJu last year. Do you choose the scorer or the better all around basketball player. Last year the NPOY’s were split. This year, I think Sarah will walk away with the majority. The one that I want to see is the Wade Trophy, voted on by the coaches, which comes out right before the FF.

Massey has Vanderbilt at 14, UCONN at 29 for SOS. UCONN's faced 1 team that will likely be a #2 seed (Iowa) where as Vandy has played 4 (LSU twice, Texas once, and South Carolina once). I wouldn't say that's a wash. UCONN scheduled well considering their conference but Blakes has faced tougher opponents than Strong has. People can make arguments based on efficiency, advanced stats, per minute stats, per game stats, impact on team success, etc. but both are excellent candidates and either would be very deserving if they win.
And last year Watkins won vast majority, she won 6 POY awards to Bueckers 2. Watkins (and Blakes) are both far more than just scorers. Juju was one of the top defenders in the country and a finalist for NDPOY, Blakes is an excellent creator for others and a strong defender herself. I'm not arguing that Blakes a better all around player than Sarah Strong but to insinuate she's just a scorer is inaccurate.

Call me crazy but I'd consider Blakes a more elite scorer than her 3 teammates who have a higher TS% than her.
I think Sarah will win NPOY. Best player on best team and you just have to watch a few minutes to get why her stats are so good.
The Blakes story is not about stats at all...it's about leadership. The true measure of success in WBB is how many games does your team win, and how far you advance in league, league tourney and NCAA.
Like Ionescu, Plum and Clark, Blakes is elevating her team to a "final four candidate" and doing it with pretty average teammates. (Galvan was not even a top 100 recruit)
In the case of Ionescu, Plum and Clark, they led their teams to final fours, and after their departure...crickets. Jury still out on Blakes, but she still has 3 chances to lead Vandy to a final four.
Stats not perfect, but she is clearly the leader and a monster closing out games. Probably not this year, but I hope they do make a final four.

Watkins won all the NPOY awards voted on by sportswriters, media, business interests in Atlanta & LA, who were all enamored with scoring. Paige won the 2 awards voted on by basketball coaches, whose jobs are all about winning basketball games. Most importantly, Paige won the Wade Trophy, the oldest and most prestigious NPOY award for women’s basketball players, voted on by the WBCA.
Look, I agree that Blakes is a great scorer. But Sarah is a truly gifted generational basketball player that does more things on a basketball court than anyone I’ve ever seen, including Maya Moore. She is also the best player on the best team in college basketball. That will count for something with many voters.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make other than maybe claim she's an inefficient player? If you're using TS% to define elite scoring and have her ranked behind players like Mitchell, Ziebell, Heckel, and Kate Koval, you've lost me. Almost everyone that you referenced is nowhere close to being the scorer that Blakes is.
Top scorers that are heavily relied upon to produce offense aren't going to put up 50/40/90 shooting splits while playing a tough schedule. Opposing defenses focus on Blakes and if she isn't able to produce, her team loses. Vandy needs her to take 20 shots every night and to create good looks for her teammates to make their offense work at its highest level. A lot of those 20 shots will be tougher looks. She has to create on her own and isn't getting wide open catch and shoot opportunities or uncontested layups (a factor that TS% ignores). Vandy's system doesn't have the team shooting splits or talent that UCONN does, but their system works, and it works well. Prior to Blakes Vandy was known for being a low scoring, grind it out defensive team but since Blakes arrived they've emerged as one of the nation's best offensive teams in the country, averaging 83.5 and 84.7 ppg in the two seasons she's been there, and in both seasons the offense is designed to have her take a lot of shots. I'd argue that Blakes being the direct reason why Vandy went from a team that averaged mid 60s ppg to a team that averages mid 80s ppg is a better indicator of how efficient she is and the impact she's had.
Also, it comes off biased and dismissive to ignore all of Blakes' positives and instead focus so heavily on one unique stat like TS%. It also comes off as petty to make a dig about her being a FT baiter. At any rate, I apologize for hijacking this thread so I wont respond further but I hope this helps address the substance of your post.
