2025 Transfer Portal - UConn Interest Only

I really only look at the Athletic, because Moore and Vecenie are very good. Coincidentally, they had Newton and Cam much higher than the other sites.

I mean... to accurately rank even the best guys going high-major you'd need to evaluate, what, 500? 1000? prospects. In a month or less. That's not feasible. You get YEARS to evaluate high school kids.

Is it just me, or does anyone have a similar feeling: I treat high school prospect rankings with a lot of respect, but not transfer rankings.
I've noticed that also and mentioned it above. It's kind of strange because you would think it would be easier to rank transfer players because you have more information on them and saw them play against college players. But it's also hard to know how an established player fits into a system and roster. Sometimes it just doesn't work. For example, every transfer Self took for Kansas last year. :)

No movement on UConn portal targets? It seems we still need 2 players even if AK returns. It's been too quiet. Agree?

If Karaban returns the only spot I think we're filling is the 3rd string C spot. And that's likely not happening for awhile until all the opportunities for minutes have dried up and kids are willing to accept a role with no playing time

So much of what we actually need depends on Ross, Stew and the freshman. Until we play quality teams we will not know.

I think it is HIGHLY unlikely that Miller would come here to be a bench big.
I get it but we're not shocked when good players transfer to be role players or come off the bench at the Duke, Kansas, even St.John's of the world. Why do we assume it's impossible for the program who has 6 natty's and 2 of the last 3? We have some $$ too and the Lakers wanted our coach. This is the type of get that can make us favorites.

It's not impossible to come here as a role player off the bench. But it is impossible he's coming here for 0 minutes a game

Almost all these players we’d like have dreams of playing professional basketball. Coming to us to play 10-15 mins a game isn’t going to further those ambitions.

The players in the portal are looking for playing time and/or money. It’s much more challenging to find a reserve player - which makes our landing of Malachi much more impressive.

I'm pretty sure that the portal still has many hundreds of players that haven't yet found a new home. At some point reality will set in for at least a few of them.

Yes, but the priority now is a 3rd C or C/PF.

5 guards, 2 C, 6 forwards = 13 players now and Hurley IMHO has never filled 13, so likely he won't fill 15 this year and stop at 14.

There are the foreigners I guess we were interested that Moore mentioned in his interview.

St. John's heavily involved? It'd be interesting to know what's been promised to those who've already committed.........

You get nice NIL money and compete for a spot in the rotation. Done

What is the current policy on NIL with international players?
With revenue sharing in approval limbo, we don't really know what the current NIL policy is for domestic players, either.

But in general there are enough workarounds known that it doesn't seem to affect the ability to get them paid.

Honestly, Pitino is definitely one of the top 10 coaches in the history of the sport, in my rankings i would have him top 5 and probably the greatest current coach in the whole sport. If I am some kid and he says come to saint johns and i will make you be better, i dont have enough playing time for you now but will do everything i can to get you to be the best player possible. Thats not a bad selling point
