2025 Transfer Portal - UConn Interest Only

What is the possibility that we have 3 five stars and one of them is not a major contributor with a lot of minutes? I mean none of them is as highly rated as Liam but still.

There are McDs AAs every year who don't get minutes other than garbage time. Not A LOT of them but it happens.

Out of 3? One not contributing us completely normal even if disappointing.

You can't have enough PGs. You need 3. 2 who play all the time, one more in case of injury.

Teams can get by with injuries at any other position.

I know all about positionless basketball, but any team that takes your best ball handler out of the game can beat you.

We’ve never had 3 top 30 in one class not even close

Realistically there's 3 guys there out of the rotation, we're not playing 12 guys. The transfer C and Ross are the easy cuts, after that I'm not sure
One of the freshmen won't play.

Mullins is rated higher than Liam.

Adam’s strikes me as an interchangeable big PG/SG. Newt profile once he gets stronger. I’m excited for the kid, based on height/skill, just think it’s going to be uphill first year given his strength.

247 composite - Mullins 15 and Liam 18.

Splitting hairs and relative to class and with subjectivity, basically they’re close.

The composite on On3 has McNeeley ranked higher. But you're right, splitting hairs.

Don't both of them use the same 4 services - 247Sports, Rivals, On3 and ESPN, for their composite ranking? I'm starting to wonder what kind of math they use on the composite.

If this is the case apparently, then Mullins has to play. You know it’s not only about next season. Talent this good can’t be allowed to portal for lack of playing time. Solo was a 4 star right? Adam’s could eventually be as good?
But I just checked ESPN rankings and we don’t have 3- 5 stars in 2 surveys.
Mullins is 14- 5 star
Reibe is 22-4 star
Adam’s 27-4 star
247 Sports
Mullins 13- 5 star
Adams 26-4 star
Reibe 32-4 star

So being a McD does not make a player a 5 star, and of course these rankings are subjective.
The one thing that pops out is that Reibe is coming to UConn higher rated than Clingan, a better shooter, but maybe not better shot blocker. Clingan Played 15-20 a game his first year so you have to figure Reibe gets that.

I have no idea who is going to pan out next year and who isn't. But my gut tells me the following:
  • Mullins will not be on the bench for long stretches. When you shoot 45% from 3 on high volume, your rear end is on the court
  • Reibe will have to have a real high BBIQ to not get in foul trouble while he is so skinny. I think he will be find offensively, but as a back up to the Bear? I think we need another body.
  • No idea about the Aussie
  • But my intrigue is with Adams. There is something about him. A quite killer type vibe I get with him. I dont know if he will be another Aidan, or another Rip. You know, skinny kid whose engine does not allow him to fail. We shall see!

I don't expect Adams or Furphy to play much.

I think long term, Adams will be a player, he just might have the toughest transition mostly due to his body. Good friend of mine that isn’t a UConn fan has raved about Adams for years, I remember he was talking about how good he was when UConn originally got involved with him. He’d seen him live a bunch and kept talking about him. Hopefully we see it pay off for him, but exciting things ahead with the talent level we are bringing in (and still more to come)….

On3 if you are a paid member will show the breakdown by 247 / ESPN / On3 / Rivals

247: probably the best feel for HS recruits
On3: aggregates all others
ESPN: makes 1-2 updates after publishing the initial list..barely does any real research
Rivals: Not even sure they are legit anymore

Basically use 247's and you'll have a better feel; pay for On3 if you want aggregated information, and avoid ESPN as that is for casual to homer type fans.

I think Adam’s will be in the rotation…he’s 6’5” a great shooter and he’s just a smooth player who has a calmness to his game.. and doesn’t force anything ..I think Hurley has to play him, I would hate to lose this kid to the portal because we didn’t play him…

It's possible you're getting just a little bit ahead of yourself here
