2025 Transfer Portal - UConn Interest Only

I didn't realize Brown was even in the portal. I hope he didn't like Columbia and wants to enroll in a big brain school with similar academics. Your future is not in hoops!

I was skeptical but we do have 10mpg available for a backup PG and 5mpg for a third string C

Silas 25 / Transfer 10 / Adams 5
Ball 25 / Mullins 10 / Adams 5
Stew 15 / Mullins 10 / Ross 10 / Furphy 5
Alex 30 / Stew 10
Reed 25 / Reibe 10 / Transfer 5

30: Alex
25: Silas / Ball / Stew / Reed
20: Mullins
10: Transfer PG / Adams / Ross / Reibe
5: Furphy / Transfer C

The plan is not for Furphy to only get 5 minutes.

We’re going 12 deep?

We play positionless basketball. We need facilitators, and ball handlers, and rebounders and shooters. When I say play PG, that's more about who he guards. He's going to be our smallest player. So he'll have some ball handling duties, some time guarding PGs and obviously will shoot. Is he getting better as a facilitator? Yes, he is, and I think Hurley has told him he needs to (and needs to defend better as well).

We don't have a PG or a SG or SF. We have guys who have roles. It may be that the SF is our best facilitator and starts the offense maybe PG is. The roles will be based on abilities rather than position. That's what we did in our two NC seasons under Hurley and what I think he is trying to get back to. Each lineup should try to ensure enough ball handling, enough shooting, enough passing, enough rebounding and the ability to match up or switch on D.
All the way back to KEA and Ricky.

We have a new entry for dumbest hills to die on as a local man has discovered basketball height measurements
I support his claim. If you’re short, you ain’t a baller.

Realistically there's 3 guys there out of the rotation, we're not playing 12 guys. The transfer C and Ross are the easy cuts, after that I'm not sure
Assumed he’s most likely odd man out Don’t think Ross is coming back to not play

Does Brown walk on water? No. Could there be better portal prospects at reserve PG still available or about to announce portal entry? Of course. At what price? Don't know for us as we await two returnee decisions and look at filling our roster. How many open spots will be filled? Don't know. Doubt if Dan carries 15 players but who knows.

What I do think is accurate. Spreading our NIL resources across our roster needs and satisfying returning players is challenging and critical to what our roster looks like next year. It is hard for me to see Robert Wright jumping at the chance to sit on the bench behind Silas and be happy. Would love to be wrong on that.
Robert Wright is starting anywhere he goes. That kid can ball.

The account that posted the Wright thing is a parody account, so I doubt there is any accuracy there. I did see a Baylor fan on Reddit accuse Hurley of "recruiting" Wright all year and offer 2 million. But, you know, Reddit.
So... that's the one thing that DID NOT happen

Intersting. He shot 35% from 3 and 50% over all. Strong player for sure. Not sure where he fits in as he looks more like a 2 guard than a 1 guard. He is only 6'3" though 225 lbs. Only has averaged around 2 assists and 2 turnovers per game which isn’t great. Didn’t play for Minnesota this past year with a foot injury. I don’t really see the fit.

He definitely has a man's body. Is he quick enough to guard people at this level?

No clue, he hasn't played in a year with a foot injury last Fall. He would be in year 7 in college.

Just a hunch, but it feels like we reached out and would maybe back off him now that Ross is returning. Same role (different body types, but same role). He’s definitely not a point guard - assist to TO ratio is below 1.0.

The same skill set and experience as a 1 or a 4 coming off the bench would be a better fit if a guy like that is out there.
