2025 Transfer Portal - UConn Interest Only

I know it's risky to think a freshman (other than someone like Castle) could be the back up PG, but I thought Adams thinks he's coming here as a PG and Furphy plays that role for Australia's FIBA national team.
I really think Solo is the backup-backup PG. He can play some minutes there and Braylon probably needs some minutes at SG as he does not have ideal size to play SF.

Positional flexibility all over is what I think they will try to do. Unless they see Stew as a full time SF, we need a SF that is bigger than Mullins. Furphy perhaps if he's ready.

I think Adams and Furphy are more likely to play PG minutes than Solo. With Adams the case is obvious (as long as he adds a few pounds of muscle), and as for Furphy, he's probably going to be the best passer on the team from Day 1. And Hurley certainly sees him as a guard, not a forward:

Hurley was asked about Furphy on Tuesday during the pregame press conference leading up to UConn’s battle with DePaul on Wednesday.

“He’s going to compete for (playing time next season),” Hurley said about Furphy.

“He’s got a real chance to get on the floor and make an impact.”

“He’d be flirting with (being on the court) this year, just ‘cause he’s tough, and he’s smart and he’s got great size at guard, and the way we play fits him perfectly.”

“But I think his spirit and his competitiveness is something that we’ve lost a little bit in the locker room, and he’s gonna bring that.”

He'll probably be more of a Cam-type of secondary facilitator than a Tristen-type of lead guard, but everything I've heard and seen is that this is a kid who should have the ball in his hands as much as possible, and who's got a real feel for orchestrating the offense.

I think we are saying the same thing. Adams is the backup PG. Solo is the spot minutes ball handler there if needed. I see Furphy as a point forward, more like Castle or even Cam. You play him at SF because that’s his defensive position, but he’s a facilitator in the offense. Also because we have no minutes open at SG between Ball and Mullins. It all comes back to positional flexibility. Lots to like here.

I’m getting Aiden Mahaney vibes with Adams as a backup PG. He is a toothpick and was being pushed all around in the McDonald’s All American game. He is also not super athletic. I hope we can get a better athletic option in the portal to play the backup PG for us. I rather see Adams have a year of strengthening and seeing limited minutes in his first year. He isn’t on the same level as out other recruits from what I have seen and read.

No idea who this guy is or if this is reputable. It was sent to me by a friend who is a Duke fan. I haven’t seen anything else backing this up though

This would be huge if we can make it happen

I thought he was the highest rated of the four and average almost 20ppg against the best highschool comp in America?

Have we ever had a burger boy not start year 1? I doubt we have 3 in one year
Kemba. Villanueva (Boone started instead). Hazelton shouldn’t count. Ray should count - but he was just below McDs cutoff.

Can’t remember if Gilbert did.

Hard to believe would could end up with 2 of the top PG portal targets, but hey, it does seem like Hurley knows we needed to go hard.

After watching Cryer and other point guards lead teams. Having a great PG is very important. We would have 2 like our past championship teams including 2024 which we basically had 3.
