Yeah I didn’t see it so I was just reacting to the commentary. Thanks for the additional details!I am not agreeing with your assessment....the not so good....a botched snap but that is going to happen from time time...never know if it is on the center or the QB.....he had a couple balls batted down....one was a really good player by the outside LB making a play.....the pretty good......thought he had a nice release and had a nice tight spiral on the curl routes......he had a great throw to the left corner of the endzone that should have been caught by Marion....he had some nice throws over the middle about 20 yards downfield....he can definitely scramble and is very quick.....
I thought he was pretty good overall....still early.....
How about Langston Hardy? Was hoping to hear some good things about him.Our improvement will most likely be incremental the next few years. Last night's practice didn't reveal very much. The wide receivers and all of running backs all looked good. There was no way telling if the offensive line is any better. Krajewski made the best throws of the quarterback in this controlled practice. Roberson looks like he has a very strong arm and is very fast with his legs but did not throw the ball as well as Steve. The only thing that I will remember about this practice is that Sokoya McDuffie is one big lineman. I am hoping for some big things from him in 2022.
If you had to do odds right now we will be double digit underdogs to 6-7 teams, including a team that beat us by 30 that could have won by 50.Once they hit the field Mora starts to repeat the same things we've heard from the previous three head coaches. "work in progress", "a lot of work to do", "good attitude, willing to work for it". You hear the same thing, not in the same word phrasings, from every coach that comes to UConn Football. I have my fingers crossed that this guy will be able to get more out of these players than the previous three could. I love UConn Football. I am praying Mora can mold this into a legit top 25 program. Obviously not this year, though I am still holding onto the hope of a bowl game, but there needs to be damn close if not better than a .500 record this year. One or two wins just isn't getting it done vs the competition UConn faces this year. Five wins this year as compared to the previous couple of years you can almost live with. But no matter how you try and whitewash it anything less than a bowl game is NOT a successful season.
RE 2 was a disaster, no doubt. But I’m not sure his heat was in it after the New Big East move. From what I heard he wasn’t consulted about it, just informed, and as a football move it made things very difficult. And indeed the NEWBIE went out of its way to knock football. Then his first INDY year was Covid cancelled. And FWIW, I also heard he wanted to play when the Big 10 reopened, but wasn’t willing to not know until Tuesday who the opponent would be and where. After those 2 things, he basically gave up. Probably should have walked away after the NEWBIE decision.4 to 5 wins and competitive game in and game out and I'm sold. The 2nd Randy era was worse than P and Diaco. If we get close to where we were in Ps 1st year I'll be happy.
The QB situation will be okay. We finally have some depth. And if the worst we can do is an improved SK behind a modestly better offensive line the step up in talent of our receiving corps and our running backs should make us competent on offense. But there are other quarterbacks yet to be heard from.I hope Roberson figures it out, but I told you guys he might not be all that. At least we have Puma and Zion Turner coming in or back to full health.

I wasn’t there but I heard that he played better later and has a huge arm. As to the bungled snap, my friend who coaches high school oline Says lt is always the quarterback’s fault. Tom Brady says it is always the center’s fault.I hope Roberson figures it out, but I told you guys he might not be all that. At least we have Puma and Zion Turner coming in or back to full health.

It was very hard to evaluate any of the players other than watching the quarterbacks throw the football because of the format ( two hand touch) and the lack of a bird's eye view that you can get at the Rent ( I was barely higher than the playing field and was blocked out of seeing what was really happening on a lot of plays). This was not an event for the hard core fans. How about Langston Hardy? Was hoping to hear some good things about him.
I don‘t give a flying flip about an entertaining spring game, I’m more concerned about what Mora can do to get our program back on track. Give the guy a chance, for crying out loud.Well…this to me is the first negative in the Mora era. Certainly not a huge deal but I think they should be playing something resembling a game. I will reserve judgment until after but the open practices in the past while interesting are not very entertaining. As fans we like to see who makes plays in a game setting. don’t care about an entertaining spring game, I‘m more interested in what Mora can do to
I didn’t catch him on the field but there were a few guys that weren’t dressed on Friday night and blended in on the sidelines… Kevon Jones was out w/ the flu, Nick Harris and Chase Lundt weren’t dressed either.Where was Marcus Bembry, the Kentucky transfer? Saw he was quoted in a recent article with some very positive comments about team and Mora, yet I didn’t see #11 on Friday night.
ME TOO!!!!!In this same article, Mora mentions that we "are undefeated".
We finally found a coach that understands me...
Until they get the Athetic Department deficit down, I doubt that you will see any blue white games at the Rent. The new hockey barn is gonna help with that too. Those venues in Hartford/East Hartford are expensive to operate.Well…this to me is the first negative in the Mora era. Don't they just "rent" the space though. So the operating fees aren't even UConn's responsibility.Until they get the Athetic Department deficit down, I doubt that you will see any blue white games at the Rent. I believed him and Durante Jones were very happy about Spanos being brought back this year too. Mitchell is only going to get better and Rante is and will be our best DB until he graduates. After Friday night one player I continue to be more and more excited about is Jackson Mitchell. He didn't get to put his tackling on display, however, his motor is incredible. It seemed like every play he was one of the first to get to the ball carrier. He just looks like a true captain on the field both verbally and physically. Really excited to watch him this season.
At the BB game meet and greet, my brother was talking with Spanos and said, "I appreciate the way you kept the team together after the head coach left." That alone surprised me because my bro isn't one for happy talk, even when sincere like here. Coach immediately says, "They are a great bunch of guys".I believed him and Durante Jones were very happy about Spanos being brought back this year too.
The team really responded to Spanos's energy and Mitchell pretty much credits his success to him. I have a very good feeling the defense is going to be very good this year. I mean look at last year, they were able to play with every single team they played including Clemson. Problem was they got gassed because the offense was so stagnant. If the offense moves the ball and chews up some clock, defense is keeping us in games the majority of the season. At the BB game meet and greet, my brother was talking with Spanos and said, "I appreciate the way you kept the team together after the head coach left." I understand coachspeak but it looks like there is real mutual respect here. The guys are buying in to the staff and I get the feeling the staff is up for the challenge. Of course it needs to translate to the field but so much of this game is player buy-in it makes me optimistic.
