when I saw you give her height as 6'3" I did a double take. Last I saw her, I figured her for 6'2" at best. But I just checked the Tennessee roster and they listed her at 6'4". Does anyone have reliable info on her? If she's really 6'4" and shoots as well as she does, a lot of teams will want her.
I'm only going by what I was told by others, last time I saw her in person she was about 6'2"............

New breed of players. Jersey at Arkansas. Shakira at Ole Miss. Even Angel Reese, but she scores inside. Shakira excelled at the midrange game. Jersey and Pissott are 3-point gunners that are not trying to go inside unless they just find themselves there. They will figure it out. And the best to ever do it at this height...Breanna Stewart.

These types of players have been around for a while now...Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne, Jonquel Jones, Azura Stevens, Dewanna Bonner, etc. I think of Austin/Reese more like an A'ja Wilson in that they can beat bigs off the dribble, but they're not going to break a press with their ball handling, nor will they dribble into their own perimeter shot like the players above. It's rarer to find true back to the basket bigs IMO with how valued perimeter shooting has become.

If Horston is 6’2” then it appears that Justine is a legit 6’4”, according to this video. I believe that it was shot before the beginning of last season.

Despite how she was sometimes listed, I think Jordan is a legit 6'1", but Justine looks to be 3 inches taller in this pic. It's hard to tell from a photo like this with no visual clues to show the angle. If Jordan is in front and the camera is slightly above eye level, their height difference will be exaggerated. For example, if Tamari took this pic, the difference may only be 1". But if Powell took it, the difference may be 4". In the video, the difference looks like it may only be 2".

In any event, if Justine is really 6'4", she might be a better fit on UConn than Betts would be. I don't think of her as a rim protector. But as a scorer she'd fit in really well. Of course, if the personalities don't mesh, it wouldn't work at all.

And by the way, Jordan comes off as a really sweet person in this video. It's a little sad that the welcome Justine was looking for didn't translate into playing time and deeper satisfaction.

She couldn't garner any playing time at Tennessee who had a center go down with an injury and you think she'd be better than the #1 ranked Hoopgurlz recruit who played important minutes in USA basketball tournaments. Man, this is going to be a looonnnggg offseason with posts like this.

The integration and successful development of a player involves a lot of variables...existing players, coaching, offensive and defensive identity, and many other things. So just because she didn't play much at Tennessee doesn't mean some other team couldn't figure out how to get her on the floor more. Is it UConn? Probably not, especially if playing time motivated her to enter the portal. But I could see her...as is...at like Arkansas, DePaul, Oklahoma, Villanova, Creighton, Rutgers to name a few. Not sure what her expectations or the TN coaches' expectations were at TN, but sometimes things just don't mesh. Maybe she just needed to be more patient.

You gave no logical evidence as to why or HOW Pissott could remotely be better than Lauren Betts not as a rim protector but as a scorer???. For the rest of the board to understand why I think you are less than sane, Pissott averaged 2 points (and had all of 4 blocks) on a pathetic 20/60 or 33% FG shooting in 27 games where as Betts averaged 5.9 pts on 80/133 or 60% FG (and had 29 blocks) in 33 games. I anxiously await your logic to support your assertion, otherwise, yes on this post, I think you are cuckoo for coco puffs.

Is it really that hard to understand, my logical [lol] friend? Obviously, I suspect Justine didn't show everything she's capable of at Tennessee. I realize that the upside for Betts is significant, and her stats are better. You'd have to be an idiot to think everyone on this board doesn't know this. But is the statistical evidence really so different as to preclude even considering an alternative? Have you never heard of diamonds in the rough, overlooked stars, players who come into their own unexpectedly, and others who fizzle out despite all the early evidence? To fail to see this would be sort of like not realizing that these are kids we're talking about -- people who are growing and evolving under our very eyes. I never claimed Justine was simply better than Betts. I only wondered out loud if she might not be a better fit at UConn. Or perhaps you are under the impression that speculation is not permitted on the BY. From now on, read more generously, and stop trying to refute everyone.

Below is a breakdown of those in the portal, as listed by Raoul, who played last year. This is supposed to be indicative to show trends.

Biggest surprise for me was that 22.9% (8 of 35) of Freshmen (FR) who played 30 or more MPG are in the portal, this is compared to only 9.1% (99 of 1090) overall. My expectation would be that FR transfer due to lack of opportunity.

Important Note: ESPN article says more than a thousand where as Raoul only had just over 500.

The top are based on Minutes Per Game (MPG) and the bottom by Win Shares (WS).

Regarding the portal number disparity, here is a link to another site that has done an excellent job compiling the players. It list a lot more players than what Raoul has. Also can be viewed by conference.

Thanks for posting. This was really insightful. Initially I made the mistake thinking I was easily just going to scroll through the list but the scrolling was neverending.lol. It is still a bit jarring to see a list of 5-6 kids from one school transferring but I guess these are the times. As a big east follower I didn't realize Providence had so many kids enter the portal. Every time they play UConn I'm always impressed by Olivia Olsen. She's 6'3, and a really great athlete. I think she averages like a block a game. Kylee Sheppard is also a pretty good player.

Don't forget Providence has gone through a coaching change. Some of the players listed may change their mind and stay, if the option has been given to them.

I feel like any time a top recruit uses their skill set to get a sibling a scholarship (or a parent a job) at a top school it doesn't go well. No idea if that's what Cambridge is doing, but I can't imagine Dawn goes for it if that's the case. Dawn's done a great job of bringing in hard working, good natured kids and runs a clean program without drama.

Kennedy Cambridge was a former top 50 recruit, so she's a skilled player in her own right but I just don't see Dawn going that route if she doesn't have a need for Kennedy (and based on roster makeup, I don't think she does).
Surprised there's been no info regarding Kennedy Cambridge's destination. Obviously, her timetable is her own, but she was one of the first to announce she would be entering the transfer portal. Makes me wonder if there will be some desire to attend the same school as sister 2024 Jaloni.

Who will the 3 finalists be? I think Ole Miss will be one.
