I don’t take things too seriously on here. I could care less wether ppl believe me honestly. I’ve never said I was an insider. The vast majority of the time I don’t have inside info. The last info I offered as anything to be considered “inside” info was in the Hami Diallo situation. I have a very close friend who is friends with a current player on the team. So, close that me and said player have hung out on multiple occasions. Whenever I can get information(not often) I share it. Otherwise I’m just another dude on this board
Oh great: the ever-delightful "could care less," that means the exact opposite.

That said, I appreciate your acknowledging that your inside information is limited, that you don't take things too seriously, and that you don't really care if people believe you. I think that it puts your comments in proper perspective, and I think that will be helpful to people who read your comments, especially those in this thread, that display a particular bravado.

It’s great that you volunteered this information. Unfortunately some of the critics will not see it.

After all the years in which “scat happens”, after continuously declaring recruiting is fluid and accepting information with a grain of salt, you went above and beyond the need to explain yourself.

Your contacts were duped. You were relaying duped information. The result was we were punked. Hopefully we get Cardwell and don’t get Kasagoed, and people can laugh at all this.

Agreed with this sentiment. If you are living and dying on second hand information provided by a stranger on a message board, and getting worked up when it's not 100% accurate or play out to be 100% accurate. Then the issue is with you, not the source of the information.

He cancelled his visit he's not coming here, it's over for those that are hoping the staff stays on him.

Need to find another answer as Kadary is not going the right way. Cardwell this weekend says yes and we're good. Plenty can happen between transfers, great transfers etc etc, no rush after Jackson Cardwell.

Going into this recruiting season we had two needs. A SF and a C. One down, we are trending positively for Cardwell and Javonte Brown Ferguson. The other spot can wait until Spring. Maybe Cliff, maybe a decommit, maybe LSU is on probation, maybe we look at grad transfers. Those results are all fine.

I don't see a scoring guard as a strong "need" in this class. Cam was simply so good you'd want him no matter what. We will have two scoring PGs. Bouk will see heavy minutes at SG with Vital gone and Jackson in. Gaffney will play SG next to Cole at times. The potential for Bouk to be Jeremy Lamb like and leave early exists, so a SG/CG is a must for 2021-22. Likewise I would like to see a PF and PG in that class.

.-.
My assessment is we will need more scoring in 2020/2021 than the current projected roster.

anyone started on a list of potential grad transfers available in the spring?

Really? Are you talking next season (2020-2021 season)?

Cole was a big time scorer at Howard. I don't see him scoring 20+ in the Big East but he'll score.

Carlton will be a senior and should be a 14+ ppg scorer.

I expect Bouknight will be a scorer.

Andre Jackson should be able to score.

Assuming Akok is still here (don't see him leaving after 1 season) I think he'll be a scorer from the 4.

I don't think scoring will be a problem in 2020-2021.

depth at the 5 will be our biggest concern as of today for the 20-21.
We currently have good guards, wings and should have decent options at PF as well. If we can defend the lane consistently and not get bullied on the boards I think we will be fine.
Gotta Get A Big

Add Gaffney who can shoot and Polley who will be a senior.

A year from now sounds like restless nights for opposing coaches.

Lol. Cam is not coming to UConn. Players that are considering bag men schools aren’t ending up at schools that aren’t paying. Let this pipe dream go.
Agreed, I would assume there are some guys/families that do not want any part of bag men. Those are our guys.

seems like ur hammering a guy for just putting his thoughts and what he’s heard out there. Why the hostility?

Polley too. We already know he can shoot it but if he’s “improved” like Danny said even better.

My 'contribution' to the "hardo" thread referenced getting testy when people add too much attitude to something where their reach exceeds their grasp. Being aspirational is one thing; projecting seemingly unwarranted confidence, offering no backup, and appearing to want to be influential is another.

That said, thanks for reminding me that I may go too far as well.

We have two freshman who haven't proven themselves and a HS senior on this list but it's supposed to scare other BE schools? God I hope you end up right but Jackson isn't even a shooter in HS right now never mind against college competition as a Freshman.

We win games 20-21 with our transition and defense not with our half court shooting. If we get in half court shooting match ups consistently we won't be dancing. That team in transition is SCARY with the length and athletic ability of Jackson, Akok, and Sid. let cole get to the corner and get the ball to carlton in the halfcourt early in the shot clock.

What happens when a team that matches our athleticism and intensity slows the game down and makes us play in the half court

Soooooo safe to assume you didn't read this whole thread and are assuming I'm knocking our talent not the fact that we are making gigantic leaps that in 20-21 we will be feared for our SHOOTING? More specifically that of the 5 players listed in the post I quoted? Of whom only 2 are known as shooters and only 1 has ever made a jump shot in a college basketball game. We will be talented and like any team when forced to play half court will do exactly that. I would even argue that we will be fair at that but our shooting is not likely to keep the opposition up at night. Our athleticism will be tough to match FYI

What if he’s doing the Reverse Cardwell and, instead of not being on campus when everyone thinks he is, he publicly cancels and then is secretly on campus when everyone thinks he isn’t????? ;)

I think the 5* one-and-dones don't see much downside to taking cash. The NBA doesn't care and the government doesn't prosecute. The NCAA takes years to act. So even if you are discovered, if you go pro before the NCAA can take away your eligibility, you are off scot-free. Only the bag man is taking a risk.

The lower-ranked players have a different calculus, the bag men have less money for them, meanwhile they might need 4 years in college so the NCAA might have time to catch up with them.

It's hard to compete with Duke and Kentucky for 5* players unless you match their cash. But you can build a great program with #40 to #150 recruits. It seems like that's where we are at, at present.

Someone close to the program told me that UConn initiated the cancelation of Cam’s visit. This person has provided good info before on our players and coaches but not recruits so this could be wrong. Seems unlikely but has anyone heard the same?

I'm not at all saying you have bad info, but that would really surprise me. If it is true, then I'd love to know the details behind that decision.

why would that surprise you? He is looking at schools that give the bag we don’t do that so we cancelled. Coaches aren’t going to ever admit to that but it makes sense that’s what happened. Moving on.

Then why are we talking to Jonathan Kuminga? Why did we waste our time with Cliff and Kofi? And he suddenly is interested only in going to a school that pays him? How did we get this far in the recruitment without being made aware?

Okay. I don’t know what I’m talking about.

You don’t think we take liberties with recruiting rules, too?

I don’t have any knowledge about what we do today, but if you don’t think we’ve been shady before...

I know, we don’t have the infrastructure to pay players in any capacity.

Cause that's not the whole decision making. Sometimes you can sway them from going that route if they/ their families have deep rooted core values. It's a risk/reward thing the coaching staff weighs and if they believe they have a legitimate chance despite what they are up against they go for it
