Deshawn Holt is a 6'5'' 230lb DE from Waldorf MD. Originally committed to Maryland back in June, he did not sign in December. Last weekend he visited Toledo and he is slated to visit UMass 2/1. From what I can tell this weekend is open on his calendar, maybe we get a visit.

Holt is quick off the snap, a speedy pass rusher.

Has offers from Maryland, UMass, Toledo as well as Bowling Green, Kent State, Old Dominion, Temple and Rutty per 247.

DDC and Spanos did an in home visit with Holt last night.

He reads and reacts well. Brings alot of authority at impact. Great closing speed. Good looking tape and a nice looking athlete for sure.
Lynch never seems to be in a hurry yet always gets where he needs to be. He takes an extra half second at the beginning of the play to understand exactly what is going on, and uses that information to make sure he is directly in the path of the play.

Here's another FL HS visit by Randy. I like Randy on the road, makes me feel like something is happening. Wonder if he ever managed to get to that special car wash way up in North Carolina.

I'm putting this one out here because A. Smith, Zyskowski, Wholley and Jake Bahr started following Prestige Edwards, 6'5'' WR from East Mecklenburg HS in Charlotte NC within the past 10 days. Edwards committed to Temple in early January only to decommit this week. Claims 4.5 speed and a 10.85 100 meter time.

I guarantee surprises

The Usual Suspect - Terry Richardson. Past history is a good predictor of future results. The rest - to my view - are unknowns. Who knows - but we can bring in about 10+
So much for this hopeful TR theory. The surprise was TR took another job.

I see this advertisement here on the Boneyard that I can get a Masters in Divinity online. That’s more interesting than anything I’d ever read from Chief.

We have 10 spots left after the early signing. I don’t thing social media tells all - I do think Richardson leaving is a bummer

That’s like arguing the sky is blue. No one disagrees with this obvious statement, yet you throw it out there every few months as if it’s insightful.

Richardson leaving is not helpful per se, but it might not be the end of the world either.

Fingers crossed we seal the deal on some of these known recruits. There are some difference makers in play.

Dunn needs to sell his O, Spanos to sell his D.

Look, Terry Richardson leaving hurts, but he is not irreplaceable.

The past 3 recruiting classes, 2017, 2018, 2019, we have 8 players total from Florida. By my estimation, only 3 or 4 were actively recruited by Richardson: Robert Holmes, Keyshawn Paul, Myles Bell, and possibly Jalon Ferrell. The others: Washington - Lashlee, Messiah Turner - Dottin-Carter, Malik Dixon - Aaron Smith and Curome Cox.

During RE 1.0, UConn did pull in about 5 FL players per year from 2003 to 2007 with some very good players. But, from 2008 to 2010, UConn averaged 2 Florida players per year and none of them were key players at UConn.

Relationships. That’s how coaches bonded with HS coaches ... then gave parents (and kids) the comfort to sign. The notion that it’s all on social media is correct; but not without the traditional conversation. Richardson had a broad network he harvested. Far wider and they endured

For February signing period, Pudge you “guaranteed surprises” by the “Usual Suspect - Terry Richardson”. Why am I wrong to think this won’t happen as he left for a job elsewhere?
Chief loves optimism and faith - so I get it. I am not talking about tweets and social media, but I don’t totally discredit the importance of those with 18 year olds. Chief’s assessment derives from the recruiting services low ratings, Terry’s departure and a very recent firing/hiring of a DC. I can’t see how the relationship thing is working optimally short term under those circumstances.
Chief would love to be wrong about all this and I hope you are right.

traditional conversation

I can't imagine we have ever landed one recruit without "traditional conversation." That would be gross negligence by the staff.

And I wish relationships mattered as much as you think. Over and over again kids spurn the lesser program that spent the time to build a relationship for the more prestigious program that walks in 10 days before NLI day. Heck, UConn is trying to do that now to other recruits after our best laid relationship building plans failed elsewhere.

While we can wax poetically about Terry, there is now a new assistant head coach and its time to see him get stuff done - Dunn!

Is his issue the fact there will be chaos on the matter of the appeals process to skip the standard sit out year for undergrad transfers?

Another update on Mazotti. Glad he is visiting. See quote below regarding position.

Three-star ATH Dominick Mazotti using visits to narrow it down

Pleasanton (Calif.) Amador Valley athlete Dominick Mazotti is still in the process of whittling his schools down.

"I don’t know as of right now which schools are standing out," said Mazotti. "I think that each school has its positives and negatives."

Mazotti has visited three schols while planning to hit the East Coast for his last two.

"I’ve taken visits to San Jose State, Cal, and Montana so far but I have planned UMass and UConn," said Mazotti.

UConn is set to host him this weekend with UMass the final weekend before National Signing Day.

A Bay Area school and one of the schools he's visiting have been on him the most.

"As of right now, San Jose State and UConn have been texting and calling and stopping by the most, but it’s pretty close with the other schools too," said Mazotti.

Mazotti said that UNLV, San Jose State, UConn and UMass have been talking to him at length and quarterback is on the table with two of them.

"UMass is recruiting me as a quarterback but I've never seen the campus yet and UNLV said they'd give me a shot at quarterback," said Mazotti. "The others are all as a tight end."

Mazotti said he's targeting the week of Signing Day for a decision.

"I will be announcing my decision on February 5 or 6 barring a drastic change of heart," said Mazotti.

A three-star by 247Sports, Mazotti ranks as the No. 86 athlete nationally in the 2019 class.

John Dunn down in FL checking out DII star QB Mike Beaudry who hails from Canada and looking to transfer for his grad year. Beaudry lead West Florida to a DII championship in 2017, but was sidelined in 2018 by an injury.

Pretty clear they are determined to find a veteran QB for the season.
