I wonder how much Edwards--17--will get to play on a Canadian team that has an average age of 26.
To some extent, the same is probably true for Liv on the US team. Whatever PT they both get, this is a great opportunity for Edwards & Liv to practice with and learn from the pros.I wonder how much Edwards--17--will get to play on a Canadian team that has an average age of 26.
She wasn’t even playing professionally. I guess she runs basketball camps? As long as she gets the job done....
Khadijah Sessions has got to be exhibit A in making the case that playing for the national team coach in college gives you an advantage with USAB.
Obviously we don't know who may have turned down an invite but are we that short that we can't get someone who at least was on a WNBA roster?
It's bizarre for many reasons, particularly because there are other good SC alums who are guards (Allisha Gray, Tiffany Mitchell) in the WNBA.
OK I just going to go ahead and say this: Khadijah Sessions? She is probably familiar with Dawn's style/offense but is she the type of player that going to give the other players in the gym a real run?
Off the top of my dome Tiffany Mitchell, Allisha Gray, Tyasha Harris, or Kaela Davis would provide better competition.
What is Canada's situation? Do they need to top 3 finish in PR to qualify for Olympics or World cup?I wonder how much Edwards--17--will get to play on a Canadian team that has an average age of 26.

Interesting, the Most of the Player's numbers have changed since the first post of the roster. More in line with the normal number systems used in NCAA and WNBA (no individual number bigger than a 5), and in line with the numbers we have come to know them by...notable Lou now is #33I think the numbers somewhat reflect their temporary status on the national team in lieu of the talent that's not available right now.

It is my understanding that Puerto Rican have dual citizenship for the US and Puerto Rico. One thing I have never understood - how can Puerto Rico have a team when they are US citizens? I thought to play international sports you needed to be a citizen of the country you play for but to my knowledge Puerto Rico has no citizenship other than US.

Carol Callan explains the new (FIBA) format for qualifying for the Olympics.

There are numerous situations where non-nations have fielded international teams. Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland all compete independently in international sporting competitions for example. And non-standard geographies have also competed separately. At other times a geographic grouping of countries have also competed as a single entity - in Cricket for example there is a team called the West Indies that for years were the best in the world, that included Jamaica, Trindad and Tobago, Barbados, etc.One thing I have never understood - how can Puerto Rico have a team when they are US citizens? Ahem: Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland are nations. Indeed, those teams are often referred to as the Home Nations or Home Countries. British federalism is more nuanced and complex than American federalism, but telling a Scot that Scotland isn't a nation isn't likely to end well! And some have argued that a chief cause of Brexit was the English being the only national peoples in the world without their own legislative body. There are numerous situations where non-nations have fielded international teams. Hopefully some of the greatness she’s standing between will rub off on her.

The Brexit movement encompasses a lot of things, most perfectly valid and very good .... but some would argue the chief reason it passed the referendum is xenophobia.Ahem: Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland are nations. 10 points on 5/6 shooting, 4 rebs, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block for Edwards in the Gm 1 blowout win.
She played 18-1/2 minutes, 6th most on the team.
