It's bizarre for many reasons, particularly because there are other good SC alums who are guards (Allisha Gray, Tiffany Mitchell) in the WNBA.

I guess they needed a PG more, and they probably didn’t want to take Harris away from school because, let’s face it, only a few from this 12-member AmeriCup team will be on the Olympic roster: Fowles, DeShields, and maybe Collier.

One thing I have never understood - how can Puerto Rico have a team when they are US citizens? I thought to play international sports you needed to be a citizen of the country you play for but to my knowledge Puerto Rico has no citizenship other than US.
There are numerous situations where non-nations have fielded international teams. Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland all compete independently in international sporting competitions for example. And non-standard geographies have also competed separately. At other times a geographic grouping of countries have also competed as a single entity - in Cricket for example there is a team called the West Indies that for years were the best in the world, that included Jamaica, Trindad and Tobago, Barbados, etc.

Ahem: Scotland, Wales, England, and Northern Ireland are nations. Indeed, those teams are often referred to as the Home Nations or Home Countries. British federalism is more nuanced and complex than American federalism, but telling a Scot that Scotland isn't a nation isn't likely to end well! And some have argued that a chief cause of Brexit was the English being the only national peoples in the world without their own legislative body.

Hopefully some of the greatness she’s standing between will rub off on her.

and maybe CW's youthful energy will flow into our seniors.;)

Checking in on Canada / Mexico. Unfortunately an almost completely empty stadium.

The Brexit movement encompasses a lot of things, most perfectly valid and very good .... but some would argue the chief reason it passed the referendum is xenophobia.

Liv going straight up.

We don’t know who the 5th starter will be yet. There are lots of reasons Liv will be the 4th starter this season. This is one of them. ;)

10 points on 5/6 shooting, 4 rebs, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block for Edwards in the Gm 1 blowout win.

She played 18-1/2 minutes, 6th most on the team.

I just started watching. USA up 11-6 with 6 minutes into the first quarter. I’m assuming the players currently on the floor started too: Coller, Canada, Diamond, Charles and Fowles

I thought the refs let a lot of contact go in the international game? Paraguay is going to have 25-30 ft attempts in the 1st half.

ONO scores her 1st pts for USA at 5:10 left in 2nd period. KLS having a typical cold shooting 1st half. 0-3 at least. 3 pt attempts weren't close.

Dolson doesn't look like Dolson. Has she been ill? Looks like she got bigger.

Even Collier looks huge next to Paraguay.

Who is better with the ball in her hands, DeShields or Ogunbowale?

Anyone got a live box score?

ONO with 5 points in the first half, but she’s still bringing the ball down low when she gets drop passes, or put backs.

Lou was 0-5 (0-4 on 3's) until she came back in with 1 minute left in 2nd half and drained a 3. Hope this gets her going.

Collier pretty understated but a little of everything.

ONO looks fabulous to me and and should get alot of time. She looks like she belongs.

DD is probably the most incredible player in terms of pure athleticism and wow factor and she is totally under control. Very impressive. Hate that the lady announcer keeps saying that we should be praising Univ TN for her play. Talk about bad info.

If ONO didn't look like she belonged against this Paraguay team -- we'd be in BIG trouble next year.

9 points (4/5 FG), 9 rebs, 3 assists in 12-1/2 minutes for ONO:

Big game for DeShields who has really improved since leaving Tennessee.

Nice game for Napheesa too.
