2019/20 UConn Recruiting

I see where you are going with that, and someone else expressed the same opinion that green was not big news. But when you bring up a player going from ND to Stanford that opinion kind of loses its credibility. Brown stock can't be falling too far last I check she was on USA basketball.

Yes, it is falling by every rating service. You do know USBB is not always the best 12 players, but who fits what roles they want.

When you say "Every Rating Service" you really don't mean Every Rating service do you?

5. How good will Aubrey Griffin be coming off an ACL tear? The Ossining standout was on the fast track to an offer from UConn before tearing her ACL weeks before the regular season last year. The injury was so detrimental to Ossining that the Pride, who were ranked seventh in the country before the season, eventually fell short of their bid for an New York State Public High School Athletic Association-record fifth consecutive state title.

Griffin was a dynamic talent as a freshman, garnering first team All-State honors and showing off the ability to dunk a volleyball. Her return is long-awaited for all in Ossining, and the Pride’s success this season will rely heavily on Griffin’s health in her junior year.

Aubrey Griffin took an unofficial to UConn end of October. Her brother visited the UConn men's team the same weekend.

If you mean October 2017 that would be Aubrey's second UCONN visit. She was also at First Night in 2016 along with Aliyah Boston & Anaya Peoples.

Let's hope she doesn't pay attention to the men's side - the fans over there are disgusted and many are calling for Ollie to be gone.

Hopkins and their star guard, Paige Bueckers, open their 2017/18 season tonight (11-28). Here's a link to a page that will have the box score www.mngirlsbasketballhub.com/page/show/3496571?subseason=417322&tab=content

I remember someone on some board posting that they would post a link to any streams of Paige's games. I'll keep an eye out. I find most every high school game unwatchable but I do enjoy watching Bueckers. If she ends up somewhere other than Storrs I will be highly disappointed.

Bueckers wasn't practicing as of last week due to an ankle injury. Not sure if she's healthy enough to play.

Paige Bueckers' entire stat line from last night:

23 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, 1 block

Doubt she played a whole lot either because Hopkins won by 40.

Nice line. Approaching triple double area. Doubt she played a whole lot either because Hopkins won by 40.
My link only lists pts but you are right, the halftime score was 56-27 so I doubt Bueckers played much in the second half.

Amari DeBerry, a starter since halfway through her seventh-grade year, averaged team highs in points (20), rebounds (8.7) and blocks (3.7) as an eighth-grader. The First Team All-Bee, All-ECIC and ECIC II, and Second Team All-Western York all-star is the top-ranked player at her position for the Class of 2021 through ESPNW.

DeBerry, who has already received a ton of interest from colleges, is an absolute matchup nightmare for opposing teams.

“She is an extremely gifted player who can run the floor, has great hands and is strong in the paint with her post moves,” coach Dolan said. “She can also step back and has the green light to shoot the three with confidence.”

Some players who performed well at the high school level when in 8th grade or lower include Andra Espinosa-Hunter, Saniya Chong, Victoria Vivians, and Elena Delle Donne.

You can watch Angel Jackson go up against Aquira DeCosta back in April here. Jackson is nearly a match for Kalani Brown size-wise.

Aquira DeCosta not playing in this game, it's a different St. Mary's school.

Not sure why Geno is scouting Angel Jackson. Ironically, I think the drawbacks with Jackson would be very similar to those with Natalie Butler. I'm happy she's getting recognized and I can see some promising glimpses that remind me of former Ohio State star Jessica Davenport, but wouldn't be athletic enough for UConn's bread and butter nor really a dominant finisher on the block yet in half-court settings.

A few of us @Charliebball & @Sluconn Husky were scratching our heads at this one also. In this same class you have Boston & Baldwin both of who visited UCONN. And this was at a time when C. Collier was still a UCONN verbal and a year earlier.

In talking about Dolson Geno said that when he saw her the first time she was very raw but the thing that attracted him to her was that she never let up. Whenever she fell she scrambled to her feet and ran down the court.

St. John’s only freshman, Azzi Fudd, plays at a different level than a typical ninth-grader. Named for former WNBA player Jennifer Azzi, the 5-11 guard led all scorers with 23 points. She was the youngest player on USA Basketball’s U16 squad this past summer.

“She’s beating herself up right now because she missed a couple of shots,” Scribner said. “That’s how she thinks. I’ve never seen a player at her age be as polished and as ready but what makes her different is she’s a great defender and she’s a wonderful teammate.”

Wood couldn’t come up with a comparable player to Fudd at her age.

“Nobody comes to mind,” Wood said. “She’s such a young player to have such a mature game and she also plays defense.”
