Here's a small sample of the chatter about A&T bouncing from the MEAC.

Confirming the worst case scenario for Gonzaga's Katie Campbell, she's done for the year (and her college career).

Ooph. Terrible. And really hurts the Zag's previously reasonable chances for an Elite Eight tournament run.

Yeah, they've been bitten hard by injuries 2 years in a row now.

Terrible news. The Gonzaga WBB message board community was bracing for that grim announcement after having seen replays of what took place against BYU. Apparently, Campbell was on a breakaway and was chased by a BYU defender. Campbell jumpstopped and the injury appears to have occurred when she did so. To compound the unfortunate injury, the BYU player landed on Campbell after Campbell's knee buckled during the attempted jumpstop.

If any of you have seen Campbell holding her young daughter after a Gonzaga game, your heart would ache for her and all that she did to get back to a high athletic level after having her child in 2016. She is arguably Gonzaga's best shooter and a fan favorite.

Drat.... Brown was improving and had become a very good rebounder and shot blocker.

It was a noncontact injury in which she was closing out against a defender on the perimeter.

This is really bad news for Oregon State. It is just awful for Ms. Brown. Some say ACL recovery and rehab can take as much as 12 months for athletes, so she may redshirt next year and not see game action again until the start of the 2021-2022 season. Yikes. Big loss for OSU. Taya Corosdale will be back for the 2020-2021 season, so she will more than likely fill the position that Brown played (stretch 4).

Some of you who follow player awards in WBB may be aware of one of the more prestigious ones, the "Senior CLASS Award". It recognizes the most well rounded individual in each major sport, men's and women's. The player must excel is the 4 "Cs" , Community, Competition, Character, and Classroom. Here is their website:

seniorclassaward.com

There was discussion on the Arizona State vs. Oregon State thread about how Oregon State's Mikayla Pivec got completely overlooked for this important award. If was unbelievable. If you wonder why, just listen to coach Scott Rueck reading her resume' at the end of his Arizona State vs. Oregon State post-game presser. Go to the 13:50 point in the video if you want to hear it.

As some others have said I concur, she IS this award, but never even made the semi-finalist or finalist list of candidates for WBB. Well, a lot OSU fans (and maybe some fans of other schools too) wrote to the Award Mangers/committee to complain. Now, low and behold, the folks there have added Ms. Pivec as the 11th finalist! They openly admit they blew it (my words)! Read this! It is unprecedented (their word) for them to make this late change..

Just Do The Right Thing | Columns | Senior CLASS Award

"While everyone associated with the Senior CLASS Award prides ourselves in thorough evaluation, we have come to the conclusion that we had a miss."

"While the committee feels strongly about the attributes of the 10 finalists who have been chosen, it has been decided that leaving Mikayla Pivec of Oregon State off the list doesn’t feel right. "

"At the end of the day, although this move is unprecedented in the 18-year history of the award, she is being added to the list of finalists. Our decision is based on just getting it right.

So, it looks like some of those pesky OSU Beaver fans wearing orange tinted glasses had a good reason to make a "beef" this time.

There are quite a few outstanding candidates among that final group of 11 seniors. Some of their charitable contributions and service are very inspiring.

Awesome. Nice to see them reconsider and great how Scott stood up fo her. I love voting for her. As much as Ruthie and Sabrina, are wonderful, this is Mikayla's award. She is truly selfless as well as extraordinary.

Wow - looks like the OSU fans are voting early and often, after getting her on the ballot. 37% now = almost triple the 2nd place candidate! (BY is a good place to advertise this - we've been stuffing the ballot box for UConn players for years).

(I did vote for Pivec just now, BTW)

Don't know how much the fan vote counts as last 2 years the winners were All Americans (Gabby Williams-2018, Megan Gustafson-2019). But from a fan vote, the 3 athletes from the 2 Oregon PAC12 schools are accounting for 57.8% of the total votes with Mik leading the way, then Sabrina at #3 and Ruthie #5. What is even more interesting is the men's vote is dominated by 2 Utah Athletes from mid-majors (BYU & Utah State) who are accounting for 83.7% of the total vote. My vote, Myles Powell, one of 2 Big East players, has got only .3%.

As I feared Ali Bamberger from Washington is out for the rest of the season. Reportedly injured ACL, MCL, meniscus and hamstring tendon. I've never heard of injuries to all 4 before. UW is now missing 2 of their 3 post players for the last few games of the year.

I saw Promise play AAU basketball and volleyball. It always looked like she struggled with running as though there was something structurally not quite right at the age of 15 or so. Sorry to read that the impact of her injuries will take her away from the game of basketball.
