2019-20 NON-Uconn WCBB News

Oregon State remains without their two 6’9” players. I guess the possibility of Aquino playing is not being ruled out.

Must've done something bad. Just six weeks ago he had his Aggies on the verge of a historic upset over Miami. Surely would've been the program's (and the MEAC's?) first-ever win over a ranked team.

I'm monitoring the situation... Those Aggies

Mitrovic is generally regarded as the more likely of OSU's two 6'9" players to see action as soon as January. Both Aquino and Mitrovic have participated in practice drills. Mitrovic continues to recover and rehab from knee surgery that took place this summer in Serbia.

I'm a stupid idiot..... just watching the news tonight... and it was the MEN's coach... not the WCBB coach. I deleted the post. The WCBB coach is named Tarrell Robinson.

My apologies to any aggie fans out there Head bang

"Fernandez, whose team (9-6, 1-0) won its American Athletic Conference opener Sunday against Cincinnati, confirmed Monday that 5-foot-11 sophomore Luize Septe recently left the program and has returned to her native Latvia. Additionally, he’s bracing for the possibility of freshman long-range specialist Maria Alvarez being lost for the year."

Mitrovic continues to go through pre-game warmups with the team. Aquino is usually on the court hanging out and cheering for her teammates with Taya Corosdale, who is out for the year following hamstring-related surgery. Mitrovic looks to be more skilled (shooting, dribbling, and passing) than Jo Grymek, the 6'8" Polish center who played the previous two seasons for Oregon State and is now playing professionally in Poland. At 6'9", Mitrovic moves slowly and is not as fluid as Aquino has shown in warmups and practices. Aquino's length and skill set would allow her to help the team now if she were cleared to play. Coach Rueck has predicted that Mitrovic will be cleared for competition at some point this season.

Morgan Valley and her Hartford Hawks' Woes

“I think we’re doing the right things,” Valley said. “We’re trying to instill how to play basketball, the right things to do on the court and off, how to treat people and treat your teammates. We’re doing all those things. [Losing] is hard. But it’s part of the process. We’re going to get this going.”

No surprise here. I was watching this game when the injury occurred, and it looked gruesome.

Purdue's Tamara Farquhar is confirmed as out for the season with a knee injury. They didn't confirm the nature of the injury, but based on how the knee buckled, it had to at least be an ACL tear.

This was a name I regularly saw when looking through FIBA Stats. Seemed to always be among the Division B scoring and leading rebounders. I thought maybe even Muffet would take a look since she is from Irish!

Thanks for noting this story: I missed it when you initiallly posted. Her bio has, indeed, been removed from St. Joes, but they have not taken off her contributions from the stats page. At the time she left, she was the second leading scorer on St. Joes (10+ ppg) and was averageing 25 minutes per game.

A number of folks on The Bench were wondering if she might have caught Muffet's eye, but that was not the case, leaving Abby Prohaska as ND's only redhead (albeit one who has no Irish background! ;)

Some news for @triaddukefan

Good pickup for My Aggies....

This was noted on the SEC discussion thread as well.

From Spokane: Still no official word on the nature or severity of Katie Campbell's knee injury, but she has been confirmed as unavailable for Gonzaga's games this weekend.

My exact reaction when i came across this..... Im in a state of shock. Absolute shock.

WHOA. Holy cow! First Hampton and now your Aggies!

Guess I'll have to retract all my trash talk about Hampton bailing out on the MEAC now. Still trying to process all of this... will have to checkout the Aggie Message Board to see what they have to say about this.

I just feel terrible about Katie Campbell. For those who have followed her and rooted for her as a young mother who is balancing basketball and motherhood, you have to feel sick that the injury may rob her of an opportunity to help her team go far in the NCAA tournament.

I didn't know that she was a mother. I really didn't know much about her other than the fact that she was a starter on this year's team.

She played 1 season at a JC in California before transferring to Gonzaga. I'm fairly sure she'd had her baby before arriving in Spokane.

"A touted recruit at Oaks Christian High School in Westlake, California, she took an official visit to the Inland Northwest – at Washington State, not Gonzaga.

Then life changed. Midway through her senior year, Campbell learned she was pregnant with her daughter Ava.

She responded by winning league MVP and first-team all-state honors. While four months pregnant, she scored 23 points in a state tournament game.

By the time Ava was born in the fall of 2016, Campbell had backed away from her commitment to WSU but had enrolled and was playing at two-year Ventura (California) College."

Welp... its official. After 50 years..... Founding Member NCA&T leaves the MEAC. Alot of mixed feelings from the Aggie Faithful about this. Gonna be interesting to see the reception from other MEAC schools next season.... gonna be very interesting
