Scott to Rutgers

Its amazing how many kids want to sign up for a hopeless 3 win season.

Anyways - that is twice I have brought up a name (Bothryod the other) where the kid commits within 24 hrs of my mention.

remember that 15 minutes when we would never be able to recruit NJ ever again because we yanked the scholly from Ryan Dickens? Don't think thats an issue anymore.
Totally....but I will say we should have three kids in the Top 50 NJ list every year - minimum if we have 25 slots.

Seems not to phase the kids. What's important to them is not always what's important to fans.

We're coming off a year where we scored 9 1st quarter points all year, and had some of the worst offensive football ever witnessed on TV. The last time we had a winning record these kids we are recruiting were 10, 11, 12, years old. Not exactly in a place to talk about 2 and 3 win seasons at the moment.

wasn't trying to be a rooster.

For the time being, I could care less about them. Some day maybe, we will back to facing each other on the field, till then, em.

You missed the sarcasm in his post. But you are absolutely correct. Personally I would prefer to go to a winning program regardless, but a lot of kids clearly think differently. A lot of falls back to prestige and conference affiliation. Kids want to be a part of a BIG TIME college program and conference. I'm sure winning is a big factor, but some kids just want to play no matter what. Take the best offer you get and run with it, even if it may not be the best opportunity to see the field.

I have revised my "Nine seats left hypothetical" in an impossible attempt to read the tea leaves and also will the future.

1) Josh Jefferson OG/C or long shot - Landon Beebe OC - We need a center.
2) Xavier Smith ILB - staff appears to continue to pursue given his tweet this week. He has been on campus. A dream alternative would be Dequan Jackson who is different type of LB.
3) Lancine Turay DE - we have visited him in school, has tweeted our offer. This is a long shot as Rutty appears to be favored.
4) Krajewski QB - has us a high choice. We should take 1 Qb every year...but if we ever skip a year, this would be the one given Pindell/Washington/McAfee/Bisack.
5) Kylen McCracken DT - retweeted our offer, mostly G5 for other offers. We need more new DLine blood.
6) Brayden Willis TE - feels like a long shot at this point, but its the best looking TE prospect I have seen that isn't flooded with P5 offers.
7) Noel Ofori-Nyadu OL - mostly G5 for other offers. Great balance- already playing against big boys in TX football.
8) Christian Izien RB - camped with us in July, terrific speed and excellent receiver.
9) Dylan McDuffie RB - visited in April - brings more beef. Or one of Chris Chukwuneke RB or Chris Wells - both are more compact -make you miss RBs.

Its likely we look to JUCO/transfers in the spring of 2018 to fill the void at TE.

Speculative placement of players by position - yes I have moved some players around:

QB - 1 - Krajewski
RB - 3 - Gillespie, Izien and one of McDuffie/Wells/Chuckwuneke
OL - 4 - Rooney, Maloney, Jefferson/Beebe, Nyadu
WR - 3 - Jeffreys, Robinson, Maurisseasu-ONeil,
TE - 1 - Willis
DL - 4 - T. Jones, Bemiy, Turay, McCracken,
LB - 5 - K. Jones, Harris, Webb, Thomas (Juco), Smith,
DB - 4 - Banks, Morrison, Carroll, Lazarus

Could see us skipping a QB this cycle in favor of two TEs.

And its moments like this that make it clear every scholarship is precious. I like the tape for Rosario/WR out of New Hampshire - but I think we have other priorities with our slots at this point.

Really enjoyed reading the breakdown, but I think with DW moving to receiver, we may need a QB in this class in case one of the other guys bolts.

Really enjoyed reading the breakdown, but I think with DW moving to receiver, we may need a QB in this class in case one of the other guys bolts.
you need a QB in every class now. Not signing one every year is setting yourself up for potential problems down the line.

Yeah I agree with you, but it would've been a tough sell with 3 guys ahead of you as Juniors/Sophomores. Now I think there's no reason they can't pull one in.

Agreed 1000000% .. they lost games to legit P5 opponents... we were getting smashed by G5 teams that, in the past, we'd figure we'd have beaten by this stage in our D1 era... We regressed.. BIG TIME.... time to get back on track....

One HUGE difference

Rutgers modern day history is extended periods of seasons that are 0-3 wins. They had 2 wins with Ash. We were inept and unwatchable ... and brought in Edsall. The people in New Brunswick are preconditioned to accept longer strings. There's zero faith in making a bowl any time soon in SUNJ.

First, its encouraging that Landon Bebee (OC) tweeted our official 8/1 offer letter this week. We need a center and Bebee or Jefferson appear to be well above what we have been recruiting at that position for a long time.

Second, when I plug in Krajewski, Jefferson, Ofori, Willis, Smith, Izien, McDuffie, McCracken and Turay, I get to a score of 131.38 on 247 which as of today would rank us 65th. Thats without a rating on Smith, Ofori, Eli Thomas or Maloney. Realistically we would probably fall another 10 slots to 75 once all the other schools round out their classes. Getting us back to the top 75 is where we need to be if we are serious about moving out of the cellar in the AAC. And no need to tell me about diamonds, gems and recruiting service bias - that is all well known. Like it or not the rankings do influence parents, hs coaches and prospects.

Third, I keep forgetting about Julius Welshcof as another serious DE candidate which I have not accounted for above.

wasn't trying to be a rooster.

For the time being, I could care less about them. Some day maybe, we will back to facing each other on the field, till then, *** em.

Hopefully someday. We are looking forward to it. By that time both programs should be greatly improved. Until then, good luck the rest of the way.

Guess I read that tweet wrong... not committed to Georgia Southern, just confirmation of official offer? Per RichieS - we are still chasing Will Cholol.

>>“Right now I’ve got some power 5 schools talking to me. However out of all the schools that offered me I like Troy, Kansas State and UConn. I’m planning on going over to Kansas State to check out one of their games during the season,” said Choloh.

The Huskies are showing a lot of interest in the defensive tackle prospect out of Georgia, who is hearing a lot from a couple of coaches on the staff. “I’ve been talking with coaches Lashlee and Edsall the most out of everyone on the staff. They wan me to visit soon and they think I could be a big part of their future,” Choloh said.<<
