UConn is not dropping football. But if you ask the basketball fans their scenario is UConn drops or downgrades to 1AA them basketball goes to the Big East. Huskyrob and his friends will be happy. Until the Big East slowly becomes the Horizon...

Small percentage has that perspective. Most understand the importance of football.

then the Rent will actually become a Rent.
Well, the Rent's always been a rent. The annual occupancy rate of about 10 or so days maximum is as good as the owner, the State of Connecticut, has ever proven an ability to achieve.

Was one of the rumored names batted around in 2013 UConn search.

Source: Tim DeRuyter will not return at Fresno State

>>After a 1-7 start to his fifth season leading the program, sources tell FootballScoop that Tim DeRuyter has been will not return at Fresno State. DeRuyter’s tenure on the west coast got off to a great start, going 9-4 in his first season in 2012, followed by an 11-2 finish in 2013, to compile a 20-6 record in his first two seasons as a head coach. The years that followed have not been kind to DeRuyter though and the program has seen a steady decline in wins, going 6-8 in 2014 (with a trip to the Hawaii Bowl), and a 3-9 ending to 2015 before the 1-7 start to this season.<<

Interesting angle to watch out for on Fresno State. AD Jim Bartko came from Oregon. Could be a soft landing spot for Mark Helfrich.

Kelly receives dreaded vote of confidence from Notre Dame AD.

#NotreDame AD Jack Swarbrick to @espn: "Brian (Kelly) will lead this team out of the tunnel opening day next year.”
Notre Dame AD: 'Complete confidence' in Kelly
Medic, IIRC when we brought Diaco here there was an assistant at ND Diaco wanted to bring along but Kelly wouldn't allow it. Do you remember who that was, is there a chance he could help us and would Kelly now allow him to leave?

I thought it was Mike Elston who was the D-Line coach there.

I believe Jeff Tedford is Jim Bartko's first choice as HC. But no deal has been made, and Tedford will not be on the sideline this season.

Florida OC Doug Nussmeier is another name floating around the industry today for Fresno State

AD Jim Bartko says there have been "no discussions" with Jeff Tedford, who's been rumored to replace DeRuyter.

7 candidates to be Fresno State's next head coach

Fresno is willing to pull the trigger, what are we waiting for? Come January 2nd, we better be looking for a new head coach. We should line one up now.

Twitter was saying Fleck would likely get $2M plus, wherever he goes. Lots of openings, not many guys with HC experience and Purdue needs to be aggressive. A MAC guy should be able to do well in Indiana.

Didn't Hazell come from a similar background as Fleck - hotshot MAC coach?
Yeah he was HC at Kent St. MAC coach of the year when Perdue hired him.

.-.
He had one good year (out of two) @ Kent State.
Big problem for the MAC guys is now your recruiting and game planning against the likes of Harbaugh, Meyer, Dantonio, plus Penn State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa etc.

Just saying GREAT Mac coaches could struggle at Purdue, just a whole different level from the MAC.
