Les Miles eyeing Purdue job, wants 2 Alabama staffers as assistants, report says

Former LSU head coach Les Miles is angling for the Purdue job and would want to bring a pair of Alabama football staffers with him, according to a report Friday by 247 Sports.

Travis Haney of 247 writes that Miles has told potential employers that he'd try to hire Steve Sarkisian and Mike Locksley for his offensive staff, and turn play-calling over to Sarkisian. Sarkisian and Locksley, both former FBS head coaches who are regarded as bright offensive minds, currently serve as offensive analysts for the Crimson Tide.

Purdue? Is this a head fake?

Purdue? Is this a head fake?

He was one of the "names" tossed out a month ago.
The fact that he's laying out exactly who he wants as his offensive coordinators (if true) to show all comers that he's willing to evolve from the LSU style offense he ran is the key (that and the fact that there will be additional costs than just his salary). Purdue has indicated that are willing to open the bank more than in the past. There are other options in play as well.

Pencil me in the "I'll believe it when I see it camp." I would think he could land at a place with higher odds of big time success.

I believe BD will be back for the final year of his contract. That said, UConn either needs to step up and get a proven HC or close it up and play lacrosse.

He's young but I wouldn't mind us giving Lincoln Riley a shot

If I was Brian Kelly the day after USC I'd fly to Austin, TX and do what I could to convince Charlie Strong to come in as my D-Coordinator

Two thoughts come to mind.

1) Will Kelly even have a job after the USC game.?

2) With Texas having a pretty damn good offense this year, wasn't it their Strong run defense what caused Texas to faulter?

LMFAO...the "Silly Season" has just risen to another level with LSU and Texas still open.

I'm betting the local TV guy may have jumped the gun based on other tweets. I was coming back to delete it.

Just told by source the report abt #SMU's Chad Morris having accepted #Baylor job is NOT TRUE and that BU has not offered the job to anyone

Could you imagine UConn having three future NFL head coaches on the staff at the same time? Well it happened in 1964 and 1965. Head coach Rick Forzano coached the Detroit Lions from 1974 to 1976. DB coach Sam Rutigliano coached the Cleveland Browns from 1978 to 1984. Assistant Lou Holtz coached the NY Jets in 1976. UConn went 4-4-1 in 1964 and 3-6 in 1965.

P.S. I realize a lot of people here were aware of this. I just posted it because I thought the younger crowd would find it interesting.
