Bottom 6th, with 1 out, Gallagher gives up back to back walks. Gallagher coming out, Brady Afthim coming in to pitch. Afthim gives up a 2 out walk, then gives up a grand slam, 8-5 Georgetown.

Coach Mac’s head has to be ready to explode

Yup, with all the walks leading up to the homer.

Bottom 6th, O'Donnell in to pitch. O'Donnell having problems throwing strikes, walks the first batter he faces, then gets a strikeout to end the inning.

Top 7th, Smith singles, steals 2B, and eventually scores on a 2 out Dana rbi single. 8-6 Georgetown.

Bottom 7th, Devin Kirby takes the mound for UConn.

Bottom 7th, a 2 out rbi single brings in 2 runs for Georgetown. 10-6 Hoyas.

It's more than just the walks, UConn pitching has not been sharp at all so far this series with all the hits given up as well. Playing in this bandbox sure doesn't help as well, as Peterson can attest to last night. But it is something both sides have to face.

Top 8th, with 1 out and the bases loaded, Kevin Ferrer pinch hits for Bushling. Wild pitch brings in a run, 10-7. Ferrer with a sac fly to make the score 10-8.

As expected. Brown takes over at 3B. Garrett Coe warming in the bullpen.

Bottom 8th, Kirby gives up a leadoff homer. 11-8 Georgetown. Another solo homer with 2 outs, 12-8.

One thing for sure, Georgetown certainly takes advantage of playing in this bandbox of a ballpark. I don't think UConn has played in such a small ballpark all season, it certainly seems to have affected their pitching crew so far this series.

Top 9th, with 1 out, UConn loads the bases. Morton walks to make the score 12-9. Pitching change. Simmons walks, 12-10 Georgetown. With 2 outs Garbowski pinch hits for Brown, and clears the bases with a double, 13-12 UConn.

Chris Jones has been talking most of the game about the ever changing strike zone for both teams. No consistency at all.

Garbo adapting!!!

Now the pitching needs to adapt a bit, it's just a tough place to pitch.

As proof, Georgetown with a leadoff solo homer to tie the game at 13.

We’ve definitely been spoiled with our recent string of closers.

Georgetown's offense is pretty good, but not normally close to this good...even at home. That's twice now they have scored 13+ runs on us. Something's going on besides the small park that is causing this. I wonder if the tipped pitch theory might be valid after all.

Tend to doubt it. Maybe for a pitcher or two, but not a whole staff.

Bottom 9th, after the homer ties the game, Willis gets through the rest of the inning to send the game to extra innings. Willis picks off a runner at 1B to end the inning.
