Sonogo was MOP in the 2023 Final 4: Newton the same in 2024.

Newton was certainly an important piece to the puzzle, but, that being said, Cam was truly indespensible and we do not get here w/o him.

The only pass he could ever handle was, and is, a lob for a dunk. He knows not how to block out and/or rebound, and only knows how to foul. Only a big space filler when DC is out. His similar stats from game to game tell the story.

Would that every game were a BIG game for him.

Perhaps he will want to xfer back home after the season? We might need his skills with the departure of Cam and Newton.

Newton played like he was not interested. He traveled, missed shots and made unnecessary/silly fouls. Hope it is a "one off" game for him.

That's if Diarra improves his fimshing at the rim. If you note, Diarra he played 1 min against Miami and 3 mins against SDSU. Not much confidence exhibited by Coach Dan. He had solid time during the season, but had a habit of being out of control as he drove to the hoop.

There is no "single" item that needs to be done, but rather, multiple items occurring near to simultaneously: AJ playing under control Newton playing like a point guard Sonogo passing out when he has nowhere to go Hawk, AK, DC and Joey C hitting their shots and FTs Good solid passes that...

Well said! Two areas of concern were evident: FTs @ 59% and 17 TOs... Improve on both and it is a 30 point win...even with those it was a great win

It is well known here that I have not been a fan of Newton's game, but I must pause my criticisms and offer kudos for his performance in the last 2 games. Going forward, hopefully he continues to perform at this level. The team needs his best play to succeed.

Yes, that is all true... However, Butler did not play the very aggressive defense that Providence, X, Marquette, the Johnnies and SH played in each of our losses. Hence, we were given many passing and driving lanes by Butler that allowed us to score easilly as compared to the other games.

He is not right between his ears.... HE cannot figure out why he averaged over 16 pts/game at ECU and why he cannot do the same here...and IMO it is affecting his overall play... So much so that he is not playing a lick of defense...

I like most of it except moving Diarra the the 1. IMO from what we have seen he has zero skills at completing a drive for a score. I like the other parts of your proposal.

Add to that the fact that Newton did it successfully against most of the Out-of-Conference opponents, but has been reluctant to go to the hoop with the purpose of scoring, or getting fouled while scoring or while trying to get there.
