...points very often, only against a truly execrable team such as Massachusetts. I would expect we will beat one more opponent this year (and have an outside shot at a 4th win), but no more. The OP is guilty of irrational exuberance. But that's not a hanging offense so enjoy it while you can...

    Good Feelings Again

Amen. I’m attributing some of the irrational exuberance to the fact that folks have lost their ability for rational thinking after losing so many straight.

    Optimistic? or Cautiously Optomistic?

Exuberant? or irrationally exuberant? Pessimistic? or depressively pessimistic? (added on edit: This is better suited for our football. I am cautiously optimistic that this will apply to the Ladyvols basketball.)

...truly deserves the so often misused label "fake news." Or something else. As someone who got swept up in the properly-termed "irrational exuberance," I loved the Oak Hill video, was very xcited by the speed of the ride, never contributed any more than Likes, and now see the cautionary tale...

...of some pretenders, sparked some internal skirmishes, and made think, "Business as usual on other Forums in these parts" ...for a recruit of legitimate interest who still intends an OV and generated a lot of healthy regard while the (correctly termed) "irrational exuberance" was in full...

    2020 Recruiting: Dylan Cardwell OV

...to why the “insiders” never corrected the mistake but all the winks and beautiful day stuff was probably a carry over of Andre Jackson’s recruitment. That was a real punk to the Cuse and a huge victory for us. This is our version of irrational exuberance. I’m still basking in that victory.

    OT- NBA Trade Deadline 2019

Zion is the surefire #1 pick but I understand Nelson's hesitancy in declaring him a generational talent. Way different playing style but he probably projects to being in the Ben Simmons tier. If he can't shoot, he will never be the #1 scoring option on a championship caliber team. The guy does...

    OT- NBA Trade Deadline 2019

Stop it or give us a name of someone else you'd take #1? What's the point of continually throwing cold water on the kid & everyone who is excited about him? Stop being enthusiastic about basketball players! Don't be optimistic! You cannot make yourself into the Alan Greenspan of irrational...

    Josh Carlton 20 and 10

...Emeka putting up huge numbers like that as a Soph, he was even better than I remembered. Plus, 20 and 10 from Josh is incredible given our frontcourt woes since Shonn Miller left, and the fact that he will be here two more years. So a little irrational exuberance, and a lot of thrilled for...

State of the Huskies Poll 1-17-19

There was a lot irrational exuberance at the start of the season, especially after the 'Cuse win. Now we've had time to see enough of this team to know who are. At this point, how do you think they are going to do? Poll closes in a week.

Jacobs: Samuelson ready to assert herself

I love her confidence. However, almost EVERY top freshman has stated that, even though they had plenty of AAU and FIBA experience, Uconn's practices were harder than they had ever experienced. I think too many people are expecting too much from her as a freshman. She and Ododa needs to have...

Jacobs: Samuelson ready to assert herself

...may have. As mature adults, and longtime fans and supporters of this program, we can understand the sometimes misguided or irrational exuberance of youth. In this case, I would never do or say anything to stifle or suffocate it. She's the one (not us) that's going to be in the gym learning...

CW: I Feel It I Sense It

Hardly irrational. That is how the #1 HS player should feel. We may not be the favorites but if the freshman jell (it is possible), and our key players demonstrate realistic improvement and we have no injuries, I think we are definitely in the FF and from there, anything can happen.

Jalen Adams on Hurley's coaching style

Nor do I want to. I now share that same exuberance from here on in that you do I am sure. Maybe even a little too high as we speak but only because I believe this is a great hire and we did have players who can be better than they showed last year. Add the experienced players, a year in for the...

    OT: 2017-2018 NBA Season Thread

A 16-game winning streak will lead to some irrational exuberance. I for one am trying to temper my expectations and simply enjoy this season for what it is, a step. I think once Hayward is back we may likely be better than the Cavs (who knows how good Tatum and Brown will be next season). But...

Looking at the season so far

I think it's "irrational exuberance," FF. Having read all the posts so far, I don't believe anyone has raised the real specter of the danger to UConn this year: no depth. If any starter (except perhaps Saniya) is out for any length of time, there's no one to replace her. According to Massey...

Since I don't believe in jinxes...........

Nothing "irrational" about it, Sonny. With the talent here and the talent coming in, we may not live to see another UConn loss. Doesn't mean we won't lose this year of course, but there's nothing wrong with "exuberance" over what's to come.
  29. Sonny44

Since I don't believe in jinxes...........

....if we get by MD, if my math is correct we'll be playing SCU for #100 and entering the tournament with 108 and closing out the season with 114 consecutive wins. Then there's next year, yikes. Irrational exuberance? Maybe, but what other fans in any sport could even imagine such a thing?

So much pure gold here right now

I didn't predict 8 wins. What I did expect is that, three years into the current regime, we would be better than a three point home win against one of the worst teams in the country, and needing a blown 20 yard field goal and a gift from the opposing coach to get that 3 point win.
  31. junglehusky

So much pure gold here right now

Folks who were expecting 8-9 wins this year were probably engaging in wishful thinking (and/or over-rating the significance of some of last year's wins). I believe Alan Greenspan would call this irrational exuberance.
