One name a source says to watch in Houston search for new head coach: West Virginia's Dana Holgorsen. Was OC/QB coach at UH 2008-09

Houston defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and offensive coordinator Major Applewhite will also be considered for job, sources say

Joseph Duarte ‏@Joseph_Duarte 4m4 minutes ago
There is also a small faction that will ask Houston president Renu Khator to consider bringing back Art Briles, sources say

Joseph Duarte ‏@Joseph_Duarte 3m3 minutes ago
Other early candidates I'm being told: Cal's Sonny Dykes, Syracuse's Dino Babers and Tulsa's Phillip Montgomery. Wild card: Mike Leach

Lots of chatter about Strong and Cincinnati from a few journalists. Would be a great hire for Cincinnati and horrendous for UConn. We simply can't afford to fall further back from the AAC pack.

All the "tweet rumors" are out of control this year... Dana Holgorsen/Narduzzi to Houston?? C'mon. This is like reading Facebook for news.

This "reporter" should be ashamed of himself for tweeting these obvious red herrings. No one is leaving a P5 school.

The Houston HC job is better than a lot of lower level P5 jobs. Cuse for example. I think it's better than the Purdue opening. They have the recruiting area to be a great stepping stone to a top P5 program for the HC.

But I don't think it's better than WVU.

Possibly, but any guy reporting someone leaving Cal for Houston shows that he's a hack.

I remember reading that Dykes had a contentious relationship with Cal administration. That could explain it.

UH is probably a better job than many mid-lower tier p5s in that it is a lot easier to make the leap to a top tier P5 from UH than it is from some mediocre P5 where its much more difficult to succeed.

This would not explain some of the bogus names on that list, though.

Holgersen is nonsense, ain't happening unless there's some kind of serious rift between him and WVU administration. I know nothing about Dykes so I won't comment but Babers might make the move if he feels UH is a better stepping stone to a top-tier P5 job. But is going 4-8/5-7 at Syracuse anything to get excited about? He had two good seasons at Bowling Green but nothing groundbreaking. Not sure what UH would be seeing there.

... Or playing surrogate for an coach's agent. Leverage (real or perceived) is why salaries have escalated and why you end up w/ $5m buyouts,

This guy is a beat writer from the Houston Chronicle. If he's a surrogate for a coach's agent then that confirms he's a hack.

Shocked you don't here more about Kiffin getting another shot somewhere.
I know he bailed on TN and didn't get it done at USC ( don't remember what exactly happened there aside from not winning with recruiting restrictions if memory serves).

Seems to me he must have done more that what we have heard about considering what he is doing at high profile Alabama.

I have this feeling Sarkisian will get another HC job before Kiffin

Sources have confirmed to @ESPNWestPalm that @CoachPartridge has been relieved of his duties as @FAU_Football coach effective immediately.

Charlie Partridge went 3-9, 3-9 and 3-9. Hired December 2013 - first head coaching job.

Bruce Feldman ‏@BruceFeldmanCFB
#FAU has fired head coach Charlie Partridge. Expect #OhioState co-DC Luke Fickell is get strong consideration for the vacancy.

Bruce Feldman ‏@BruceFeldmanCFB
Other possible options for #FAU: Former #Miami HC Randy Shannon, UF DC Geoff Collins, #UK OC Eddie Gran, #Michigan pass game CO Jedd Fisch.

Saw Mario Cristobol's name mentioned as well.

Houston offensive line coach Derek Warehime will join Tom Herman's staff at Texas

Additionally - Houston defensive line / assistant head coach Oscar Giles, tight ends / fullbacks coach Corby Meekins, cornerbacks coach / special teams coordinator Jason Washington and recruiting director Derek Chang will join Tom Herman at Texas, according to ESPN and 247Sports. The three coaches spent two years at UH, while Chang spent one year and previously worked at the Longhorn Network.

To be expected - the back fill @ Houston will be interesting to watch once they settle on coach.
