As of midnight today. Not sure if there will be a last minute deal but certainly something to monitor.

 
Call me a dinosaur but this is exactly why I have Verizon FIOS. I pay more but they have everything my wife and I want and they don't usually have these disputes that interrupt services (knocking on wood I didn't just jinx it!). They just charge all us customers more! Lol. But I don't care. How much could I possibly save trying to get everything I want through different streaming services? Not worth it.

I’m sure this thread or the other streaming service thread will turn into a “what should I do next?” thread. If anyone finds a good alternative to YTTV I’m sure many of us are interested in hearing.

Can only speak for myself but I only REALLY care about UConn basketball and football so YTTV is still mostly fine. Maybe 1-2 ESPN games that I can figure out down the line. Worst case the 20 dollar price decrease can be used for the new standalone ESPN/FOX hybrid app for a month or two. We all know it’s the mouse doing this hoping to monopolize the industry.

I get it...but if you have multiple Tv's the box charges were getting crazy...plus we spend time between FL & NJ..so i would need that 2x. Streaming is getting less advantageous IMO if you only have 1-2 Tv's

Honestly you’re right. The savings are becoming minimal at this point. And once Disney monopolizes the market they’ll be charging almost the same as cable anyway. Part of me wouldn’t mind jumping back just to avoid the headaches.

Just a quick clarification. YTTV doesn't charge you by screen that accesses YTTV (device on the tv), but you are capped at number of devices running YTTV at any time actively. I have 4 people in my household (2 of whom are in college out of the house most of the year). We have YTTV on at least 10 devices, but we never have more than 2 devices using YTTV at any time. I believe YTTV allows 3 devices at a time.

Also, I believe with YTTV, you just have to bring your device back to the "home" network every 3 months. The kids are always home before that time period expires. But only my son uses YTTV (for sports).

Dino 2 weighing in. I've had DirecTV for decades. Yeah, it definitely costs more than streaming, but the convenience completely makes up for that for me and my wife.

I tried going to streaming about a year ago - got some trials and started to use it (while keeping DTV in place) and it just doesn't work for me. Everything takes so much longer to do, particularly if you have to change from one service to another.

Pausing live sports is a nightmare while streaming. Sometimes I want to take a break for 15 minutes or so to make some food. Come back and now I have to figure out where I was. Fast forward and rewind nowhere near as seamless as DTV.

And then there's double play when I want to switch back and forth between two games. One stays paused and I'm instantly on the other and back and forth. No figuring out where I was or struggling to get back.

Add in that with the movie channels, I still get Max, etc. apps if I want to use them. The new Genie boxes with access to the main receiver and recordings and apps built in is fantastic.

I often wonder how streaming became so popular when it's such a worse experience (for us at least).

My brothers in CT and California have no issues using my YTTV account where they live as Im in Atlanta. They never have to worry about any 3 month thing. They have been using it for going on 3 years or so.

Exactly why I’ve been loyal to YTTV. Anyone else that shares with other households may want to keep YTTV and use the discount towards the new ESPN/FOX app. Although I believe the discount will be 20/month and the ESPN/FOX app is 40. So not ideal long term.

Not sure if any other service looks the other way with sharing log ins with other households like YTTV. Would be glad to learn otherwise.

Or just get the ESPN streaming services alone for $30 as Fox channels are still on YTTV. No reason to pay $10 extra for that bundle. Thus it will cost you $10 more doing it this way if YTTV gives $20 credit to their service if they lose ESPN and Disney channels.

Sling and Fubo don't have TNT or TruTV which is 7 of our games. No go.

Youtube tv missing ESPN games (Kansas and Illinois I believe)

Hulu has it all. Offering 65$ a month for the first 3 months. I only keep tv through basketball season--get Hulu from my SIL typically--so I'll go with this probably.

You just need to log in at least every 3 months from the home location...not every device. We live in Fla but come north for the summer...had to have a neighbor do into house and turn on YTTV and all was fine

Didn’t realize that. I thought espn and Fox were exclusive. Good to know.

Seems like that’s the winner. I just hate caving to Disney though. We all know their endgame is to monopolize the live streaming market and then raise the prices to the triple digits.

I don't think that's Hulu with Live Tv...that's the Hulu netflix type streaming service. Disney thinks ESPN is worth 30/month...they are NUTS

Correct! At least that’s how it appears. It’s a good option if you want to keep YTTV and supplement the espn channels with (essentially free) Disney plus and the Hulu library.

Yeah, thinking of going this route. I know with ESPN+ you can share accross mulitple users in different states so Im sure ESPN Unlimited is the same but only can have 3 streams which is the same at YTTV at the same time.

Don't get too comfortable with it as Hulu is going away soon and will be fully integrated into Disney+
 
Has the UI/UX for Hulu Live improved? The last time I tried it a few years ago it felt like something my grandmother would have designed, who was blind and is dead.

We live in turbulent times.

The worst job I have ever had in my life, and I folded shirts at JC Penney when I was 16, is trying to be a Premier League fan who streams legally in the United States in the year of our lord 2025.

Right. I can often have 3-4 going at a time. YT wasn't friendly for that.
