Good game but stressful. Diarra had a nice game. His only turnover was a crosscourt pass that was easily stolen. He needs to clean that up. In addition, he never seems to handle the last minute of a half well. He had the ball at the end of the first half and missed a layup.

Solo looked good as well. He had that key steal in OT that could have been an intentional foul since he would have had an uncontested layup/dunk. He went to the rim more than usual with at least one dunk and other layups.

I loved the shot of Liam on TV during OT when he was on the bench after a great defensive play by UConn. It looked to me as if he was thinking how wild Big East games are. Exciting and stressful game. Many key contributions from the team.
You are not wrong on Liam. In the presser he said it was the most intense he ever felt in a game. I think he had some nerves but he said he is looking forward to 19 more conference games

Favorite Raff quote tonight, in reference to Karaban: “He’s gonna have a long life playing this game!”
There have been times I've imagined him as Havlicek (even if not really). Tonight he had his second garbage putback in the last week or so that brought to mind Bailey Howell.

They got away with a handful of moving screens during the game. On one their big took out two of our players, John Hannah would have been impressed. They also did a ton of grabbing under the basket that wasn't called.
Bonus points for the Hog Hannah reference….,74% of this board has no idea who you are talking about

Miller coached his ass off.
His timeouts were pretty much perfectly timed.

I listened to his post game and it's obvious they're still reeling from the freemantle loss. Was also pretty funny that he's claiming Zach freemantle is "4% body fat"

As if anyone could play basketball for more than 5 minutes at 4% body fat lol.

I actually don’t think the defense was that bad. Xavier was making some highly contested and nearly impossible shots.
The defense was really bad for a stretch in the middle of the game, but solid at the end of game and overtime. The problem was once the defense got solid, that guy went off making impossible 3s.

Solo Ball getting close to being a complete ball player. keep working on taking it to the rack and a little more consistency on D. Watched him closely, not getting turned as easy, just needs a bit more anticipation.

Not much else to say, Yarders covered it all intensely and comprehensively

Sorry.

There are plenty of Civic center games that warrant a lot of praise. The place was close to dead until the last 4 minutes and overtime.

I love the Civic Center. But Baylor blew that out of the water in terms of this year. I’ve been to at least 20 civic center games where the crowd has been much better.

We all know your opinion on this topic. When you make comments like this , you lose credibility.
Your're a liar. The place was had a buzz from the start. It spontaniously erupted several times. When they went down 5 the place went crazy until they clawed back. They loudly berated the officials. It was great. You know who doesn't have credibility? Someone who posts "They were not throwing in prayers all night."

Singare with 2/3 of bench points tonight. All 5 starters tonight were great, and in general those 5 have become consistently solid. It’s not going to happen, but now that we have Singare a solid option off bench I would like to see Samson Johnson and Reed get some minutes together with Samson Johnson at the 4.

Stewart has had his moments this season, but team needs him to bring it every night. The team has one too many forwards and one to few guards

Hurley won another close game! They kept fighting even though it was awful down the stretch... not to be that guy but whats the excuse for the crowd this time? Back to back champs, Big East Home opener, close game.... all i heard was lets go huskies at some points. Are the students too used to winning, or do they just not get "it", is it the the TV broadcast and it was wild in there, or is that a product of the XL center?

The students bring the juice.. in my opinion they didn't bring it today the way i'm sure a lot of people were expecting. Karaban, Hurley, the Social Media team, McNeeley, Diarra, pretty much everyone has said countlessly they need the fans. Hurley was outspoken when they went to Kansas last year and truly saw what court advantage looks like. Ready to be flamed but all you have to do is go back and watch replays of older teams to know what I'm talking about.
Crowd was great and engaged in the second half. Taunted the refs too. TeeVee never translates the experience well. Don’t trust how it sounds with muted / filtered mics over the air or down the stream.

It felt on tv like the crowd was ready to explode several times and carry us on a run … and we never got the stop we needed at those moments.

Agreed. Poor fella obviously wasn’t actually there yet makes baseless comments because… <shrug>. Crowd was sizzling 2nd half on and even in the 200’s were on their felet for most of it…

Gutsy win. Know the KenPom defense tanked 25 spots, but especially in the second half the three point defense was good. That dude just went unconscious from three and made a ton of shots he had no business making

Also, how freaking good is Liam McNeeley? Arguably our best player to this point as a true freshman, and the difference maker in that game with clutch play after clutch play down the stretch. If not for foul trouble he might’ve scored 25+ again

Reed is a stud. Didn't realize how big and physical he is, but tonight he was a man among Boyz.

The biggest weakness to me is perimeter defense. We were spoiled the last 2 years. We just don't have the foot speed to guard the outside. Danny will figure something out.

X kept throwing up what seemed to be daggers, but never went on a run that took the crowd out. There was mojo there even when we couldn’t believe our eyes. A few chuckles though, but belief in the team and staff o persevere. Ball brought down the house a few times when he was feeling it, and Karaban and Reed the same in OT. Certainly an odd and unique game to witness, but very interesting and engaging.

I was at the game and agree…it used to be better in the past. Not sure how fans can’t get up for this game, and it was $3 beer night! Several times we were the only ones in our section standing and cheering and seemed like people were annoyed. There’s also a ton of old people with no energy (not being ageist but its pretty clear a certain demo is less enthusiastic, its as if they are watching on TV.) Maybe the prices have pushed out “regular” fans? Something needs to be done.
