Worst telecast ever?

This is ESPN???

Those list subscriber fees must be hitting hard.

What a mess.

You have to think the producer tells the play by play announcer that on screen graphics are out. Need to call it like a radio broadcast.

What's that thing a certain subset like to say on here?

"Our exposure in the AAC has not changed at all, we have the same number of network games!"

Except the quality of coverage and scheduling of those games is atrocious compared to the past.

Thought it was horrible. First I turned the mute on for the first time this year. Then the onscreen clock disappeared and they showed the floor clock for a minute. Then the onscren scoreboard and clock disappeared for two or three possessions and scores with no game commentary. That was unbelievable!

It's not the conference. The game was slow and these teams are not getting much attention. That will change and so will the coverage.;)

It won't though. That's not how this business works.

The problem is the losing. The games get switched from ESPN to ESPN2. They aren't assigned prior to the season. These are in-season decisions.

The female announcer (Is it Burke?) needs to realize she doesn't have to talk non-stop.
I find her voice annoying. When they show her face it looks like her lips are not moving when she talks. Talk from your diaphragm Doris, not your through your teeth.

I tend to agree that there's some preference to reduce exposure to improve leverage over next AAC contract. But that is counterweighted by the importance of getting profits now from a conference they have a contract with.

Two teams just above .500 and a slow start won't bring out the best in the announcers.

Nonetheless that was bush league in the way they covered the first half.

I'm saying no matter what the scheduling, our games will always be during off days and the coverage of our games on ESPN will still largely be for pimping out ESPN's bigger properties, namely the ACC. This isn't changing.

???

Have you looked at the schedule?

Here are the big games and when they were played:

Wed. ESPN2, 7PM
Mon. ESPN, 7PM
Fri., ESPN2, 2:30pm (off-schedule, but it was XMas Holidays)
Wed., ESPN2, 3PM (ditto)
Thurs., ESPN2, 7PM
Sat., FOX, Noon
Thurs., ESPN2, 7PM
Sat., ESPN2, 4PM
Thurs., ESPN2, 9PM
Sun, ESPN, 4PM (call this off-schedule if you like but I don't see the big deal)
Sat, CBS, Noon
Sun, CBS, Noon

12 games on the big network channels. How does this constitute "always on the off days"? The only games that were off scheduling wise were the two Xmas games against Auburn and Houston. Otherwise, weekday night games and Saturday games, along with 2 Sunday games.

Compare this to schools in the P5. Compare to say, NC State.

Here's what they have:

Sun, ESPN, 1PM
Mon, ESPN, 7PM
Wed, ESPN2, 7PM
Wed, ESPN2, 7PM
Sat, ESPN, Noon

5 games all year. As opposed to UConn's 12. And UConn is down this year from 15 and 16 the previous year.
