OT: World Cup 2018

Now De Guea needs to come through. Two more chances....

Well I guess the good thing is, no Russian players will be murdered after this one.

Spain couldn't have had a better setup for a Finals run if they tried. !@#$ed that one up bad.

Croatia/England/Colombia will be in the final. Wow.

Of those three, I'd put the strongest money on Croatia. Colombia has been up and down....and James is definitely playing injured now.

I don't see England at all. They just aren't that good.

In the air, Russia's average team height being a few to several inches taller might have helped.

Yes. It was more a criticism of Spain for continually trying to do something wherevRussia had the advantage. Russia would have a harder time stopping that against many other clubs.

Good riddance Spain, boring outdated style of play, content to simply win the possession battle and pass it around the middle 1/3rd but did almost nothing with all that possession. Russia is just taller and stronger so of course they were content to sit back and defend knowing Spain was unlikely to use air attacks. Plus spanish national team supporters are like the Yankees of futbol (soccer), obnoxious, loud and so happy to not have to see them anymore. Russia earned and deserved that because they were just... Smarter...

Understood and readily acknowledged, a ping ponged bounce here, rebound there off a cross may have helped the Spaniards. Long gone now, but a possible lesson for the generally taller Danes and Croats who will likely face another russkie wall.

Denmark's not really doing much, but they've had possession what seems like the entire 2nd half.

Neither team looking dangerous at all.

What a blown chance for Denmark right there. First touch should've taken a shot.

Danmark's Thomas Joseph Delaney. In Euro 2016, Delaney's surname caught my attention, e.g., Why wasn't he playing for Ireland? Turns out, ole Tommy and his father were each born in Danmark. And, Delaney actually has closer family ties to the US than Ireland and could have elected to play for the US via a grandfather who emigrated to the States.

Denmark pretty much shuts down whatever Croatia wants to do. And then takes possession. Not dangerous, but they are playing well.
