WNBA Playoffs Thread

I was chatting with Mike T. at the World Cup in Tenerife, and he was talking up the new Mystics arena. It's nice, but seats only 4,200 and is out of the way. The Seattle arena seats 18,000 and was full for Sue's last game. I think they had nearly 10,000 last night.
It was an awesome environment last night for the game. Is this the new venue? If so, it's set up really well in how its designed.

That Seattle/Washington series is going to be really fun to watch, if they keep playing like they did yesterday. Holy smokes! Great game by both teams. EDD looked good. I was very impressed with the rookie, Shakira Austin. She is going to be a force in the league if she stays hungry. Stewie, just efficient as usual. Jewell Loyd, just quietly goes about her business. Gabby Williams, much like Loyd, just goes about her business. This is going to be a fun series to watch.

I can't wait until tomorrow and watch Chicago/New York. Must win for Chicago. New York, see if they can continue that hot shooting at home. Wonder if Chicago is going to up their intensity. Las Vegas/Phoenix series. I hate to count out the Mercury, but they just do not have enough offensive and defensive punch to deal with the Aces. But I will be watching both games.

Game 2 is in Chicago as part of the "minimize travel" format

Thanks for correcting me. Definitely gotta get use to this new format and this noon game time. Not sure if I can have an adult beverage this early in the day. My body isn't use to the noon beverage drinking. :D

As a doomsday Liberty fan, I will drink after the game.

Pretty weird the Liberty Game is 12PM but the Aces game is 9PM.

I'm guessing it's a time zone thing. Seems like a good tactic as it gives Las Vegas a prime time game at home on a Saturday night, from an attendance perspective.

On a selfish note, works great for me. I get to watch a game at noon, have time to do whatever I want (nap, yard work, etc.,) and watch a game in the evening before bed. The weather is great my way today. Gotta take advantage of it as fall is not that far away.

I might have to do the same. Get ready for the 9pm game.

This just in. Liberty turned down trying to join the Big East.

Sky may have 7 players in double figures and 0 for NY

I was really impressed with Chicago's defensive intensity. I didn't know they had that in them, haven't really seen that this season.

Just a miserable game for New York, nothing really worked for them all game long.

It's been confirmed Peddy has a ruptured Achilles, so she's out for the rest of the playoffs for the Merc.

It is unfortunate, but Stewie and Plum have shown you can fully recover from this injury. Going to miss a year though.

Chicago just dominated from the start! Holy smokes!! Their intensity was incredible.

This is one of those games where you just move on. There wasn't any one thing: the Sky fell on them.
And everyone knows it's winner-take-all on Tuesday. Stay tuned.

With their depleted roster, Phoenix doesn't even look like a good college team on paper. Jennie Simms and Yvonne Turner are both starters. And yet here they are, going toe to toe w/ the Aces, having no trouble scoring. Vegas needs to buckle down and blow this wide open early.

34-30 thru Q1. There hasn't been one iota of defense played by either team so far. Vegas can't hardly miss and they set a record for 3's in a quarter in a playoff game, yet they can't get any separation.

Safe to say Vegas now has that separation.

Both teams have "cooled off" to 67 and 61 percent shooting. Unbelievable. The scoring pace has dropped way off from Q1. Vegas is 10-16 from 3. Phoenix is 0-4 from the charity stripe.
