WNBA June 2019 Musings, scores, pictures, etc

Speaking of laying bricks.... When is the next Las Vegas-LA matchup? I might have to tune in to that one

A combination of double teams that she would not quick pass out of enough, refs who would not call a sledge hammer and Tina loving the 3 pt shot too much biut she is always valuable on the boards and defense in general.

Arike was +3. Charles was -3. Conclusion? Arike is better than Tina Charles. ;)

Could this be shaping up as Lisa Leslie vs. Lauren Jackson Part II? I remember an intense rivalry between those 2 and one of them literally got some of her hair ripped out during a game.

No Stewie, no Bird, no Jewell...no problem. Seattle looking good, up 33-21 over Chicago after 1 quarter. Russell is looking really good. Had a drive from the 3 point arc into the lane, hit a contested layup. I don't remember seeing her do anything like that before. Clark got them started w/ 8 points in the first 3 minutes of the game. I believe Russell has 8 as well. KML has a couple of 3's. Canada is a pesky and disruptive defender.

More importantly, Arike 2-23 (2-13 from 3). :D:D:D:D:D:D

The rest of the team was 20-44 from the floor. How in the world does Agler let Arike shoot that much when she can't hit anything?

Jeez, Chicago is shooting 60% from the floor but still trailing by 12. Weird.

He’s decided to just let her keep shooting because she’ll win them 1 out of every 10 games. Advanced analytics, I guess

Katie Lou is rockin' some pinstripes on the bench. Is she secretly a Yankees fan?

Or advanced tanking.

Serious question: Is Arike on pace to set the record for most shots *taken* by a rookie?

2-23 is 8.7%. I think this is a record for a rookie.

Q3 off to a bad start for Seattle. Taking tough shots, not much ball movement.

I've been tooting Natasha Howard's horn this year, but she's having a bad game. She's taken 3 absolutely terrible shots this quarter. 3-12 from the floor. Chicago within 1 now.

Chicago grabbed a lead briefly. Seattle barely clinging to a 66-65 advantage thru Q3. Only scoring from the FT line for a while now.

Meanwhile Phoenix is killing Indiana 84-61 midway thru Q4.

Tale of two halves. First half was well played by both teams. Second half is butt ugly, too physical, now refs calling everything, no flow to the game. Tied at 70 w/ about 6 1/2 minutes left. Seattle just brought 4 starters back in for the stretch run.
