If the Mystics don't win the title this year........
I hope EDD can stay healthy. Last seasons Finals were not fun to watch because she was injured. She's gotten a few of her teams to the Finals, only to be hampered by injuries and cause them to not be very competitive.

When healthy, the Mystics look unstoppable on offense. Coach T also drafts very athletic guards and versatile bigs, so their defense is good too.

when does Messeman return?

Well, one thing you can do is realize after going 0-10 that tonight's not your night, and maybe you should pass the ball to someone else. Or, at a minimum, get back on D. Speaking of which, I love this truth talk from Agler:

Oh Agler, you clearly haven't been watching ND over the past few seasons, have you? Standing around whining at officials while failing to get back in transition was ND Guard Play 101 if your last name started with an O or an M...
I actully believe that most WNBA coaches watch very little college basketball. Perhaps they watch the NCAA's or a few high profile games. Anyone who has followed Arika realizes that she is an unconscionable streak shooter who will continue to throw them even when stone cold. She also seldom plays effective defense. Why anyone would draft her so high was beyond me. I often wonder about Agler as well. How can you allow a player who is shooting as badly as Erika and who doesn't play defense still remain on the court? I honestly didn't believe any WNBA coach would allow that to happen.

WNBA coaches are routinely spotted at games involving players who figure to be potential draftees.

At the Pac-12 tournament in Las Vegas in March, there were up to 4 or 5 of them watching any given game.

I remember seeing (on TV) Laimbeer and Alger at an NCAA tournament game. I'm sure he has watched this 500 times too...

This WNBA season so far, there isn't the slightest bit of consistency from game to game for almost any team. Indiana is red hot and looks amazing so far, leading the Aces 33-25 after Q1. Kelsey Plum might not ever hit another shot again. I've watched 2 of their games recently (I think I missed one), and one quarter today, I think she's about 0-20 since I've been watching. Almost every shot has rimmed out. I don't know who it's possible to be that unlucky, but she has been. I missed 2 games prior to this ice cold streak where she hit 16-28 from the floor.

Okay, I looked at her game logs, she is 2-28 in the last 4+ games (Ogunbowale says "hold my beer, I can do that in 1 game").

It looks like Laimbeer is going with a big lineup of Cambage-Wilson-Hamby all on the floor at the same time.

Wilson is having a great game, already 20 points including 8 free throws.
McCowan has proven she belongs in the starting lineup for Indiana. She has 8/5 midway thru 2Q.

McCowan will be good, but she has a long way to go to be "really good." She got abused by Griner last night.

Yeah but she's getting the better of Cambage so far tonight.

Hamby and Swords combined for 12 points on 5-5 shooting and 4 rebounds, nice contributions off the bench from them.

I guess with so many injured players this year, it makes sense some other players would have to step up. A couple journeyman types that are suddenly taking on much bigger roles I've noticed are Erica Wheeler for Indiana and Leilani Mitchell for Phoenix.

Wow, that ball came to a dead stop on the front of the rim. I didn't think that was even possible.

I finally saw Plum hit a shot! I don't think she'd attempted anything since early in Q2. Hit a big 3 midway thru Q4. She's stayed in engaged, hustling on both ends of the floor, playing some decent defense.

This one is going down to the wire. Aces had pushed their lead to 6 but now they're only up by 1, under 3 minutes left. Wilson leading everybody w/ 30 points. Balanced scoring for Indiana.

Wilson is just having a monster game, 34 points on 13-19 shooting.

Cambage has been sitting for a long time. It's not foul trouble at this point, Laimbeer just opting to go w/ Hamby instead. McCowan has been missing for quite a while too, both teams going smaller.

Jackie Young limped off the floor with about 2 minutes left, not sure what happened.

Wheeler has had a good game, but Plum is really getting after her on defense in Q4.

Aces up 3 w/ 34 seconds left. Probably LV ball pending an official review after a ball got tipped out of bounds.

edit--call got reversed, on a wild scramble play Wheeler ended up alone in the corner and drilled a 3 (wasn't Plum's fault, she was guarding somebody else on that sequence); all tied up w/ 17 seconds left

3 point shooting:

Indiana 11-21
LV 2-11

FT shooting:

Indiana 3-6
LV 20-24

Very different ways they've gone about scoring.

Plum's shot off the back iron, we're going to OT.

.-.
I don't know what it is about Jackie Young, she racks up assists almost invisibly. 8 assists/0 TOs tonight.

edit--good news, she's back in to start OT

So are Cambage and McCowan, they're going at it right away.

Cambage is on fire in OT after having almost no impact the rest of the game. Indiana is hot from outside.

Back and forth we go, maybe Aces finally have enough breathing room to finish this off. Up 5 w/ 39 seconds left. Wilson has 39, Cambage scored 10 quick points in the extra session. Kelsey Mitchell is 5-7 behind the arc and has 21 points.

I don't understand what happened. There was a collision before the inbound, Wheeler got 1 dead ball FT. What rule is that? Then Dupree got fouled and hit both FTs. 99-97. This OT has been very entertaining.

I was watching the Mexico-Costa Rica soccer game (bananas, headed to penalty shootout) but looks like Wilson really had herself a game. 39 points, 14-20 FG and 11-14 FT. Career game for her I guess?

Yes, and I think that is the highest scoring output by a player this year if I’m not mistaken. Zahui B. scored 37 against the Sparks.

NY over Atlanta 39-28 at half. Tina rebounding with an exceptional game so far with 17 pts 5 rebounds 3 steals and 2 BS. On the negative side, Kia Nurse forcing too many shots (0-6) Many way to early in the shot clock. May have caught a bit of Arike fever.

Not watching the game.... looking at the stats... but man.... Atlanta has a lot of chuckers. EW with just 5 shot attempts today... while the starting backcourt is 6-29

Pretty nice ending to the 1st half of the Lynx-Dallas game. Coates clocks Arike with a legal hard screen and Talbot drains the 3 to give the Lynx a 12-point halftime lead.

Sims is having an outstanding game, 14 points and 7 assists at the half. Pheesa isn't doing much scoring (3 pts) but she has 3 assists and 3 steals to go with 3 rebounds. She and Sims are both at +17 on the +/–.
