OK. Here we go again. Another year of hopefully exciting UConn Baseball to be tracked by chart below.

I am more of a lurker then a poster ( except for this chart). So I want to thank all of you that keep us updated on all things UConn baseball during the off season.

Based on research of teams that made tourney over last few years, I came up with my unscientific path for the baseball team to get an at large bid. I did tweak my chart a bit. I have separated the out of conference (non New England games), into 2 categories. They are broken into teams that were top 55 RPI last year, and teams with last years RPI of over 55.

I am assuming we play 59 games prior to NCAA. I included 4 games of AAC tourney play ( this can vary). Based on 59 games I came up with the 3 criteria we need to meet (or exceed) to get a bid. Obviously this does not guarantee a bid , but from past history it would place us in great position.

I hope some of you enjoy this. It keeps me interested in season . Also thanks again to all of you that post live updates of games. With work can't always follow team on radio or gametracker. Many of you know much more about the team then I do. I enjoy your micro posts, while my posts are more of a macro view.

Go HUSKIES

Wow. Great win to start season. Playing a top 5 team on nuetral site to start season is not an easy task. Even though never want to root for a losing weekend, I would have been satisfied getting 1 win this weekend. Clutch offense, great pitching and defense. Hope this continues over weekend and we pull out at least 1 more win.

Below is first update of chart. Included the RPI, but obviously this is irrelevant right now. Again thanks to all with updates on Boneyard. Keep up the good work.

I so wish the Huskies were staying in Florida an extra weeks (not disrepect to Charleston SC, which is a great place) as I will be in SW Florida next week with my boys to catch some Spring Training. Catching Sox (my older son's team) take on the other huskies (Norheastern), which is my wife's college, on Friday and then the Yanks (my younger son's and my team). Should be fun long weekend.

Usually don't update chart after a loss, but if we lost today I was going to. Figured a 1-2 start vs a top 5 team without our #1 (All American) pitcher would have deserved an update. But WOW, we win the series with a convincing victory today. Again with clutch hitting and superb ( especially relievers) pitching. Looking like we should be definitely ranked. Thinking should be top 20 at minimum.

Looking forward to next week. This teams looks like they are going to give us an exciting year.

PS. As mentioned before, RPI irrelevant until at least 20 games in. But I will continue to post it.

Mid to late March for the RPI to start meaning anything. Last year I believe D1baseball.com started listing RPI about the 5th weekend of the season. Just looked D1Baseball.com will start posting RPI March 18.

Great question, but not a new Quad-like thing. Just an arbitrary way to separate our non conference schedule. Just checked each teams RPI from last year, and approximately half the games were vs top 55 teams. Figured it would be more interesting if we had another category.

I am glad that people enjoy this chart. Really keeps me interested in season. As I have said many times, l really appreciate all the posters during games. Many times that is the only way I stay updated. Thanks for all your efforts.

Great win. Awesome pitching from Jeff, CJ, and Jake. Nice to see Wallace be so efficient with getting 4 outs with 13 pitches. Also Pratto and C. Winkel with 3 hits. RPI at 5 which is nice, but way to early to be very significant.

The RPI means nothing. But it is nice and people who check that type of thing will notice. It's good PR.

A 3 -3 start vs very good competition away from home without our #1 pitcher is not a bad start. But to be honest , I am disappointed we are not 4 -2 or better. Big weekend coming up. Would love to go 3-1, especially if Feole is available.

Much needed win to start weekend. Have won first game of weekend 3 straight times to start season. Winning 2 of next 3 would be huge. Again WAY to early, but our RPI is at 6.

Way too early for the RPI to matter is right. I've been quite amused watching UConn's RPI yo yo up and down all week, all the while when they didn't play any games. Right now the RPI gyrations can really make your head spin. Have to give it a few more weeks to settle down a bit.

Probably repeating what has been said in other threads, not happy but satisfied with a 5 -5 start. We have had Feole pitch 3 innings , the bottom of our order has been horrendous and we have not been able to depend on our pitching ( minus a few). So with the schedule we have played, 5 - 5 is not bad.

Hoping today's victory ( which was huge) , gives the team a boost into next weekend series vs a tough Texas State team. Need to start winning these weekends and take care of business during mid week games.

This start is not bad at all given that schedule, especially considering Feole is just coming back. Definitely reflected in the very early season RPI, even though that stat is still wildly in flux this early in the season. This team is split between a bunch of very experience upper class men with great ability, and a number of very inexperienced young players. Nothing can be taken as a given, but once some of the inexperienced players get their feet wet and hopefully start to be more productive and consistent, this team could be a very dangerous. A bunch of questions still need to be answered both with certain position players and on the pitching staff, but the flashes that have come from the young players are making me rather optimistic. Just have to have a little patience as things start to sort themselves out.

Nice win last night. Solid performance from bottom of order, relievers and defense. We have now won opening game of each series this year. Now need to finish off the weekend. Hoping for a good performance from Feole today. If he can get to what we know he can be, it would be huge.

Finally get a Saturday win. Nice to see Feole pitch as well as he did. Obviously having him pitch to his capabilities is a big boost to team. Already a successful weekend, but would love a sweep. A win today would get the Chart almost all in green.

Anytime you win a weekend series you should be satisfied, but was really hoping for a sweep. My goal this week is to beat UHart, and take 3 of 4 from Mich St. Never easy to win 3 of 4 away, but this would put us in good position ( in regard to chart below).
