Serena is going to sleepwalk to the semifinals. After that, she'll still be he heavy favorite, but her quarter doesn't have anyone with enough game to make her sweat. It would take an epic brain freeze or an injury.

Serena wants 19 slams. She would love 23 or 25 as well, I imagine, but 19 is very attainable. I think she gets it, and I think that starts this fortnight with #17.

Errani went out yesterday too. the #5 seed. I would think the clay court specialists on the ladies side would suffer more on the grass and hard courts. Like or hate her, Serena is fantastic to watch when she's playing with fire and passion, which is most of the time these days.

that's too deep, give the women some credit for her talents between the lines. still gotta serve the ball after threatening the ref with a racquet.

I always liked McEnroe, too. Doesn't mean I endorsed his rants and fits at officials or wanted to see more of that stuff from anyone else for that matter.

Bottom line, pulling for this athlete or that athlete, this team or that team, is a subjective thing. There are plenty of ladies and gentlemen in sport that I root for and a few scoundrels, too. Steve Stricker is a wonderful guy by all accounts, and I am certainly happy to see him win. But I don't turn on the TV to see him close the deal on Sunday. By most accounts--the substantial charitable work done by his foundation notwithstanding--Tiger Woods is a self-centered cheapskate (among other things), but I still like watching him win. This does not mean that I root for him *because* he is a self-centered cheapskate (among other things). A strict reading of some recent "Serena-gate" posts strongly suggests that this point of logic is past the point of comprehension for some.

Next time the networks revisit Serena's various Stuebenville comments, and Sharipova's response, my response will be the same: Yawn.

Is there some mechanism that would prevent Meyers from posting on a tennis thread?
I mean the guy is like Cato in the Roman Senate who, no matter what the topic, keeps yelling, "Carthage must be destroyed". Enough already.

Kind of like posting every time Williams plays in a tournament??? hmmmm???? Yea, it gets old. Real old. And it's not even related (even remotely to UCONN or even WBB).

Is there some mechanism that could prevent you guys from posting every time one of them plays???? (See? it goes both ways. You bring it up, I'll respond. Stop bringing it up I'll stop responding. Ok?)

You can certainly keep bringing it up, but I can certainly keep responding. It's only fair. ;)

See my response. You guys start this stuff. Gotta be able to man up and take a little ribbing for supporting such a bad person.

Hated Mac and Jimmy for their behavior, too. Of course, Mac says he doesn't like his behavior in that era, too.

ribbing? Im not worried about it, just think its silly to join in a thread that you have no interest in (not you personally but anyone).

its crazy to come to a celebration and being the party popper over and over again. why show up. after a while the door is left wide open for you to walk in cause people know you'll eventually show up AGAIN.

prove them wrong once in a while

Oh I know I can skip it, but what else is there to do on here??? Maybe in season, it'll get lost in the volume. But here in the off-season when there isn't much to talk about??? Eh why not?

Besides, it is so much more fun railing against you guys and your fawning over the Williams.

Some would say it's crazy having a party and celebration for such a bad person. hmmm? I mean if someone where in here praising the TN Vols, wouldn't you expect someone to respond???

prove them wrong once in a while
